Ok, I would have given this a higher star review, but the zipper on the laptop compartment has stopped working - or broke I guess you would say. The zipper no longer closes the compartment. In other words, when you zip the zipper up, the tracks don't stay closed. I would have expected MUCH better from Tamrac. I have only had this bag for 2 years, and only use it to store my equipment, so it's not like I've beat it up over the last 2 years. So I'm not sure if I just got a lemon, or if this shows a reduction in quality for Tamrac bags.

I travel a lot with both my laptop and camera - this backpack allows me to do it safely using only one hand bag. I also shoot wildlife and using the optional straps, I can attach my tripod to the bottom of the backpack while hiking. The backpack has both sternum and waist straps making it comfortable to carry (good weight distribution). There is ample space for my 7D, multiple lenses, accessories and food/drink for hikes. Overall, a versatile backpack that protects my equipment and provides convenient access to my camera equipment anywhere I go.

Great backpack. Fits everything except my 17" laptop. Advertised to fit but my Alienware M9750 won't fit through the zipper. Must be for a macbook. Otherwise very nice and comfortable backpack

I wanted a bag that would allow me to replace my laptop bag and allow me to bring my photo gear with me when I travel for my job (non-photography related btw)... No problem holding a 40D, 17-50, 70-200L, Speedlite, and a 15" Macbook. Along with all the chargers, batteries, memory cards, etc... The only problem is... when this thing is filled up IT IS HEAVY! but I don't think Tamrac can do much to help out there... should have bought cheaper gear ;-) The one thing I would suggest to Tamrac to improve this product is to put some strap(s) or external pocket, etc... to allow you to carry a small tripod or monopod.

• The Adventure 9 is a modern backpack designed for the SLR photographer with a pro digital or film SLR (such as Canon's EOS 1D Series or Nikon's D2 Series) with a grip and 5" lens attached, several additional lenses, a flash, accessories and a laptop. The completely foam-padded lower compartment protects photo equipment, while the large top compartment holds a light jacket, lunch or other necessary items. Inside the top, a Pop-Off Pocket keeps AC adaptors and laptop cords organized. A separate, completely foam-padded compartment provides quick access to a laptop (such as Apple's PowerBook G4 or others up to 15½" x 11" x 2" in size) without disturbing photo gear.
• Double zipper pulls provide quick access to photo gear while a weather flap and quick-release buckle provide security and weather protection. Inside the main compartment, foam pillars support the camera with lens attached, ready for action, while adjustable, foam-padded dividers protect other equipment. Tamrac's patented Memory & Battery Management System uses red flags to identify available memory cards and batteries from ones that are used up. A Windowpane-Mesh pocket organizes filters, cables and other accessories.
• Two mesh side pockets provide quick access to accessories and water bottles. The comfortable, foam-padded backpack harness with sternum strap is contoured todistribute the weight of the camera gear across the shoulders. The harness alsofeatures Tamrac's Strap Accessory System attachment points for customizing thispack with optional Tamrac S.A.S. products. Two lash tabs on the bottom allow atripod to be carried (requires accessory straps).
