Much more protection for my $1600 lens than the cloth factory pouch. Zips up tight and keeps dust and any elements out. An additional level of compartmentalization in my bag if the trail mix opens up!!! Padding is a plus. Better long-term and short-term storage, too. The only upgrade would be a floating pelican case, but that would cost much more.

Purchased this case to hold either a Canon EF24-105L F4.0 lens or a Canon EF 16-35L F2.8 lens (whichever isn't on the camera). The 24-105 uses 77mm filters and fit nicely in the case with lens hood attached (reversed). The 16-35 uses 82mm filters and was a very snug fit in the case with lens hood reversed. Regardless, the case seems nicely padded and is solid protection for these fairly expensive lenses. That said, I tried attaching the case to my Tamrac bag and found it just too lopsided, so the case stays loose. Still, I'd rate this a good purchase, and I'll likely buy another Tamrac lens case to go with a long lens (when I can afford one).

[$]. to protect a $500. lens? I'd spend that anyday. Very well-padded, liteweight, nice-looking - a great bargain.

Quality built construction. Adequately protects the lens from possibly becoming damaged during transport and/or during storage. Have them for all my lenses that didn't come with a hard case from the factory.

I was looking for a case that would fit my Pentax DA12-24 lens and this is a perfect fit. It attaches easily to the MAS connectors on my Tamrac Expedition 4 backpack. I had also gotten it to fit on the MAS connectors of my Velocity 7x bag, but I had a hard time attaching it to the Velocity's MAS connectors, as the connectors were almost too small. Beyond that, it works great for me.

Tamrac's new Pro Lens Cases are zipper-closing, foam-padded cases with weather flaps to protect larger, professional lenses. They feature carrying handles and quickly attach to the M.A.S. compatible products and Belts, or to a regular belt.
Zipper-closing, foam-padded lens case with weather flap designed to fit most wide angle zoom lenses (such as a 16-35mm f/2.8) with shades (reversed) and other lenses up to 5½" (14cm) long with a filter size of 82mm.
