The oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) is the heart of the Tascam CG-1000. It provides high precision timing and is not influenced by environmental temperature changes, ensuring consistent, high-quality sound.
The jitter management circuit in the Tascam CG-1000 reduces external clock jitter. This is achieved through a unique TASCAM design that incorporates an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and a PLL (phase-locked loop) circuit with a discrete filter, ensuring a stable clock signal to the word outputs.
The glitch-free relocking circuit in the CG-1000 constantly measures the external reference clock. If the clock signal drops out, a substitute reference clock signal is maintained with a high-performance holdover, allowing for glitch-free recovery and preventing audio noise and skipping sounds.
The Tascam CG-1000 features an analyzer function that measures input frequencies. This can be extremely helpful in troubleshooting problems in large-scale post-production studios or broadcasting setups with numerous connected devices and complex wiring.
The Tascam CG-1000 uses durable nut-coupling Amphenol BNC connectors. These connectors are extremely resistant to pulling, twisting, and multiple connect-disconnect cycles. Each connector also has an independent circuit board to prevent contact failures due to twisting and repeated use.
