Excellent product for its price point. I may upgrade to a better mic later, but the recorder itself is fantastic as a primary or a back-up lavalier recorder with dual track recording for safety (main reason i got this) and an excellent system to save long recordings into multiple files.

I use the mics for everything. They have a good range of settings that perfect tailor to your needs. Great for weddings, interviews, and other vocal demanding projects. They are pretty hot, so I would suggest getting a muffle for them if you are to do anything outdoor.

If you film video, this is on of the best recorders out there. I use it for Youtube videos as well as weddings. I used to hook myself up to my DSLR or camcorder with a lav mic when I filmed videos on the water. This is way easier. You can stick it in a pocket, run the mic up your shirt, and turn it on. The sound quality is excellent and I should have bought one of these long ago. It's well worth the money.

This little recorder was fantastic for my doc shoot! It auto-adjusts levels, and I was impressed with how good the sound was even when the subject was walking around, or there were other ambient sounds. Good value.

I think the audio quality on this recorder isn't any better than what you will get from the Zoom H1. The build quality is very similar as well. But I suspect this recorder can survive a drop or two while the Zoom H1 will not considering the H1's size and those on-board microphones. I also prefer the arrangement and feedback of the buttons on this recorder over the H1. There's just the right amount of stiffness and click. With the H1, operating the buttons felt like a task in itself. On the DR-10L, it's unobtrusive except for the record button or switch or slider and that is for a good reason. On the inside this thing definitely scores a couple points more over the H1 with features like dual recording, limiter and some more. Ultimately, the only distinctive feature of the Zoom H1 is that pair of X/Y stereo mics. Maybe it's useful for you and in that case definitely go for it. But I think with a little more nominal expenses on accessories, you can plug in any mic into the DR-10L and be good to go.

I anxiously waited for the release of the DR-10L and bought it right away when it became available. As I'd hoped, this is an almost perfect solution for capturing clean sound for videos where one cannot go directly into the camera with a microphone. However, I was a bit surprised by the not-so-crisp lav microphone. I've not worked with it enough to be able to set up the perfect equalization. But, natively, it does not measure up to my other lav microphones. It's adequate; but, could be brighter. I intend to test other microphones with the recorder, which seems to perform completely as expected,
