The VSR-264 is a stand-alone encoder and decoder that caters to the increasing need for an external, independent YouTube encoder in live streaming scenarios. It offers Full HD streaming to renowned Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) such as Wowza, Ustream, AWS Elemental MediaLive, and CloudFront, among others. Its compact half-rack size allows it to function independently, eliminating the need for an external computer for recording or streaming.

This device is equipped to provide professional audio and video streaming in various AV over IP applications. It is suitable for a range of commercial environments, including corporate, educational, religious, governmental, industrial, and security settings. It features balanced analog Euroblock/Phoenix low voltage wire connectors and unbalanced analog 1/8" (3.5mm) mini-stereo jacks for versatile audio I/O connections.

The VSR-264 integrates seamlessly with TASCAM Professional Audio, allowing audio to be embedded from analog sources and de-embedded to drive networked audio playback for ceiling speakers. You can also use digital audio within the HDMI I/O. It comes with an integrated installed output level configuration function and reference level switching function (up to +20dBu), ensuring reliable and flexible system structuring when streaming video.

This live streaming encoder is compliant with popular standard streaming protocols, including HLS, RTMP, RTP/RTSP, Multicast, Unicast, all with a RESTful API for easy integration into control systems in commercial AV installations.

The VSR-264 offers simultaneous recording and archiving via SD and USB. It can record directly to USB connected media or SD cards through a front panel loading slot. It also features an automatic FTP upload function for recorded files, enabling easy creation of backup copies, editing, or web repurposing.

Managing multiple VSR units connected to the network is made easy with the Mac/Windows "TASCAM DISCOVERY" app. This app provides a simple web-browser based GUI for remote management. All configuration settings are saved within the VSR devices, so no computer is needed for streaming or recording in normal operation.

The device also supports PoE+ functionality, eliminating the need for AC adapters in AV installations. An optional TASCAM AC power supply is available separately for scenarios where external AC power is required.
