Before I bought this extension, my imaging setup was too long and bumped into the legs of the tripod. This tripod extension gave me the height required for proper clearance.

It does what it says it increases the height of the pier by 8 inches.

The extra hieght is just what I needed for my 5" refractor. Viewing is much more comfortable. Highly recommended.

I added this mini pier to my mount to effectively lower the tripod leg extension and hopefully gain a steadier and smaller tripod footprint. I can say it accomplished those goals, and I recommend this item to those with longer telescopes such as longer focal length refractors.

First, it solves a clearance problem with my 127mm F/7.5. Second, all my telescopes are more stable with the tripod legs retracted. Third, after a QHYCCD Polemaster alignment and a night under the stars, I can remove the pier and mount head together from the tripod, yet restore the alignment the next night. At least if the grandchildren haven't used the tripod as a race pylon!
