I like the ruggedly classy look of this backpack. Used this as my carry-on during travels. Perfect for my camera gear, laptop, accessories, snacks & any other travel essentials. Great quality & durable. I'm petite & this was comfortable for me, especially with the walking I have to do while lugging my gear. I especially like the security features of this bag with the inner zip to secure my camera gear. Highly recommend this backpack.

I will be using it in Iceland and Norway fjords. Beautiful pack. Well constructed and inconspicuous. It has plenty of room for 3 lenses and very well designed. Very comfortable on my back. I am very excited to use it.

What I like about the Retrospective Backpack 15 is that it isn't too big to use all day when I want to keep my kit to a minimum. I was surprised that I could fit my Nikon Zf with a Nikon 100-400mm lens attached and have a Nikon Z7 with a 24-120mm lens attached. I could also open the top flap and take out the camera with the 100-400mm. The backpack is comfortable and made well.

Just received in the mail. Have only taken on one trip. Impressions so far; Easy to carry, weight distribution is good. The top load for a pro body with 70-200 works but is snug. Using the front pouch is tight when main compartment is loaded. Main compartment needs to be 1 inch wider and left to right and front to back. Depth is good. This pack will carry your pro setup but seems better at an enthusiast kit. Time will tell how well it wears.

The laptop compartment is very flimsy and not sufficiently protected. There is little to no padding between the front of the laptop compartment and the front pocket of the bag. The separator between the laptop compartment and the main gear compartment is thicker, but still relatively thin. The location of the laptop compartment means that when you set the bag down to use the rear access to the main gear compartment you are putting all of the weight of your gear onto your laptop. The laptop compartment is not sufficiently thick to use a sleeve or additional padding to alleviate this issue. Finally, I was not able to pack any gear in the main compartment without significantly deforming the laptop compartment -- which makes it either unusable or, if you put the laptop in first, means the bag itself is putting pressure on the laptop. The bag seems like it would function to carry a small amount of camera gear, but I would not trust it to hold or protect a laptop.

Large enough to carry my equipment without being so large as to be cumbersome when I'm out taking pictures.

The build quality and multifunctionality is next to none. Even when not carrying a camera around this is an almost flawless backpack, I hope there are plans to make a 20litre version.

That's right, I now own three Retrospective Backpacks. Why? Because they fit my 4x5, Medium Format and APS-C systems perfectly. Another reason is I travel with two systems in my camper van, and two backpacks fit perfect in my van's gear cubby. They are a perfect fit on my back, and I am an older petite female that enjoys shooting in the landscape. I have had many backpacks made for photography gear over the years, but these packs fit my current needs best.

Great Backpack. Love it with my mirrorless system. Also feel more secure when walking around the cities as 1). it does not look like a bag full of expensive gear. 2). It's a bit more difficult for someone to access and tamper with your gear. Think Tank straps are also the best.

The back is not to big and not to small, just right for my GFX 50R. The parts into the pack are: camera body, 50mm lens, 23mm lens and Telephoto Zoom lens 100-400. Along with a mixed bag of camera support stuff that I need only when I don't have it in the backpack. Manufacturing is Top Shelf. The backpack takes the load off my neck & one shoulders.

The Retrospective® Backpack 15 I recently purchased is one of the most comfortable camera backpacks I?ve every owned. All the gear is easily accessible and well protected. Thank you ThinkTank, you really outdid yourself this time.

Excellent quality like my other ThinkTank bags. Perfect fit. I love that I can easily convert this backpack for day trips or for travel when I don't need my camera. When going on assignments or photoshoots i use this backpack in conjunction with my Airport Advantage Rolling Bag. Like the security features as well. Overall you can't go wrong with this bag period!

A sturdy and quality made bag that fits my mirrorless setup that includes a 100-400 lens. My only wish as a petite female, was that it was a bit lighter in weight.

Strong and practical backpack. Looks like and old school backpack and doesn't stand out as a camera bag. Easy access to cameras from top and back as well as multple attachemnet points for tripod. Easliy fits several lens, clothing or even a drone.

Honesty yes it?s just another camera bag, but it?s really the perfect size for me. I can pack two a7riii with a 200 and a 70mm and have enough room for a couple other lenses and the rest of the kit. I finally feel like I?m using a bag that is fit for my gear and not just wearing a diaper on my back. It?s very cool looking too. If that matters to you, I would say it?s well worth the price and extremely well built.

I have been looking for the perfect bag (for me) for many years and I finally found it. This bag is so versatile and well designed. The folks at Think Tank look like they really put a lot of effort into quality, design and functionality. The bag is solid, can be configured in a ton of ways, protects my equipment and is compact. This is my first experience with Think Tank products and I couldn't be happier. I can see myself with this bag for many, many years. I bought this bag because I needed one that doesn't scream camera bag, is secure, small enough, big enough and comfortable for travel and walking all day. I travel light. I configured my bag so I could carry two bodies (Nikon Z7 and D7500) with 55-300mm f/4-5.6 (attached), 14-30mm f/4 (attached), 35mm f/1.4 and mirrorless adaptor. It fits all of that and I can use the top compartment for carrying plenty of knick-knacks or souvenirs. Water bottle fits on either side. Plus, you can add modular pouches if you need a little extra room. Also, the bag stays upright when you put it on the floor. I don't have to worry about it toppling over. I recommend this bag if you like to travel light/medium like me. If you are the photographer type that needs, or has to carry tons of gear, this bag is not for you. The only thing I wish the bag had is the special trap/webbing for attaching the bag securely to the extended handle of luggage. Other than that, this bag is perfect for me.

I bought this because most backpacks are just too big and bulky. Years ago I had the first version of the Shapeshifter 15 and I stupidly sold it on eBay. I tried to find it again, but all I could get was the v.1 17 inch. I have a 15 inch laptop and that is big enough. I will not use this everyday... a better everyday for me is the Domke F4AF Pro... all those exterior pockets work for my daily life. But there will be times when I want to carry everything and I figured this Retrospective Backpack would fit the bill.

It's stylish, high-quality & very well thought out. It fits an m43 camera with 12-60, 45-150, 100-300, a couple of primes, a small second body – and I still have ~50% of space for personal items. Also, it is not overly deep for the tiny m43 lenses to dangle. Turning the pack around on the waistbelt to access my gear (like with the Backlight series) works great. The side pockets are ingenious. And it is quiet – I have tried another backpack before which made some noise when walking. Given it's style and the relatively simple waistbelt, I was unsure about comfort. Longer hikes are still to be tested, but so far it is surprisingly comfortable to carry – if (!!!) I am wearing it really, really low. I am 1,77 m tall (a bit less than 6 nonmetric whatevers ;-) ), and the pack seems most comfortable when I am using the sternum strap at its lowest possible position. This way the extra padding at the lower back of the pack actually puts the pack at a little distance from most of my back, which is comfortable and good for airflow. Looking at youtube reviews (+your videos!), I'm not the only one wearing it like that. The only problem is: The metal rings and added attachment loops on the shoulder straps end up on top of my shoulder, pointing upwards, and are very hard to reach…and that's the only criticism I have. If the metal rings and attachment loops were further to the front / lower on the shoulder straps (or just a second pair of rings was added), it would be absolutely perfect.

Had to graduate from the Retrospective 7 bag-which I adore- to the Retrospective 15L Backpack to accommodate my new 70-200mm lens for the Sony kit and an additional sealer lens.. I am very impressed with the detailed thought that went into the design of this pack as well as the workmanship. It is gorgeous, practical and perfectly suited to my needs.

I had the horizontal version and it is still going strong after 6 years. I liked the vertical version and bought it in an impulse and tried to cancel it as it is Rs17000 in India and a bit dear. I was surprised at how well built but small it was - so before returning it I tried to fit the Sony 200-600 GOSS (inverted hood)with A6400 attached- it wouldn't go - but wait - it went in and fitted perfectly from the top opening. I could also comfortable put in the 17-60Zeiss and the rest of the battery and cleaning kit including flash. I may not use it this way and more likely to use it with the Nikon Z50 setup but I will keep it. It gives a good feeling of sturdiness and not being a big camera bag but still has generous space.

It’s been a month since I purchased this bag. And I truly appreciate how well crafted it is. This bag is perfect for urban photographers and photojournalists working mainly in urban spaces. It’s secure, durable and comes with a good amount of room. I do hope that they come out with a slightly larger version of this. But overall, you’ll get your money’s worth!

A friend of mine let me used it during my hollidays and I let him take care about my backlight 18L. It is wonderful daily bag and for this purpose it is the best I used last 2 years (backlight 18L was the previous one). It is so stylish. I am expecting a 20/25L version for weddings able to manage 1 large DSLR (1dx series) and 1 DSLR (5d series) + 11-24 4 + 24-70 2.8 + 70-200 2.8 + 50 or 85 1.4 + 2 flashs + 13 to 15 laptop + few additionnal stuff like batteries, cleaning stuff...

This is a great bag, that can hold a surprising amount of heavy gear, with relative comfort. It’s small enough that it can fit well through doors, crowds and on buses/trains. It looks great, and is not easily recognizable as a camera backpack. The shoulder straps are comfortable, but I wish it had the shoulder adjustment like my shapeshifter backpack, which is slightly more comfortable on a long day. The front pocket is a great size, but it does need bigger Velcro for the closing flap. If the pocket is not at least half full, the flap doesn’t engage. My only other wish item for this to be the perfect day bag, would be the ability to use my camera belt as the waist belt on the bag( again like the shapeshifter). This is a huge feature that I use constantly, and while the bag does come with a waist strap, it’s not beefy enough for me to comfortably wear my pouches.
