Fantastic rain cover

The Emergency Rain Cover is an excellent product. Easy to put on keeps the camera dry and you can still operate the camera. Can also be used to keep dust and dirt and bird droppings off the camera when installed for remote use.

Fantastic Rain Cover

I shoot soccer with canon mirrorless and needed some protection for my sigma 150-600 sport lens. This worked perfectly. Used in a full game of rain and no issues at all.

Medium Rain Cover-Hydrophobia D 70-200 Medium

I will be visiting the Niagara Falls in couple of days, so thought I will get this Think Tank emergency rain cover to protect my gear from water. I ordered the size small, but unfortunately it is too big for small lenses / lens hoods. I had planned to carry my mirrorless Canon EOS APSC camera however the lens end is too big to fit over the kit lens lens hood or over my RF 16mm lens hood. So, now I have to think of carrying another camera. I tried it over my Nikon AF-P 10-18mm lens hood which is much wider than the Canon. It is a petal hood and is not deep on the left / right side of the lens. I struggled to fit the velcro belt over the hood. When I finally did, the velcro showed in the view when shooting wide open. If I pull it back, it exposed the lens barrel. This is very disappointing. Couple other zooms I own also have petal hoods. I will have to somehow manage to fit it but it will be a struggle. This cover is best suited for long lenses with wide filter size and non-petal wide & deep hoods. 
If I had an opportunity to try this cover before buying, there is no way I would had bought it even for half the price it sells. Looks & feels cheap. Most of my cameras are medium to small size (Z5, Z7 and three other APSC cameras) and the only long length lens I own is the AF-P 70-300mm. So, out of the dozens of lenses I own, this cover will probably fit only a couple of lenses. This is total waste of my money, definitely not worth $42+.
The other end of the cover is good enough to fully cover and operate the camera. The cold shoe attachment helps keep the cover in place. With one hand holding the camera, a bit tight with space to operate the zoom. 
I will carry my weather sealed body and lens on my trip however the my wide angle lens is not sealed. So, I am concerned this cover may not protect my wide angle lens. I was planning on traveling light but now since this cover does not work with my small lightweight lenses, I have no option but carry the heavy gear. I will try this cover on the trip but will carry couple rubber bands to hold the lens end of the cover firmly in place.

I definitely do not recommend this cover for small / medium size camera & lens combo.


Way overpriced, not fit for lenses with small / petal hoods

Pulled the rain cover out when it was raining on my trip to Iceland - amazing!!! Best part is how it stays in place! Thanks for creating this awesome product!

Rain cover - awesome!

I primarily purchased this product for use with my Nikon Z 100-400. When it arrived, I tested and it worked perfectly. Then I tested with some of my smaller Z lenses like the Z 24-70 and the Z 14-30. It worked very well with those lenses as well. I am very pleased. Thank You for providing such high quality camera gear!

Great Product

I am impressed with the overall quality of this ThinkTank rain cover, size medium. It fits my Canon R3 with the RF 100-500 lens at its extended position. It worked to keep my gear dry while photographing humpback whales on a boat in the snow and rain. Even though my equipment is, for the most part, water proof, my mind was put at ease knowing I had the extra protection. Thank you ThinkTank!


I am impressed and wish I had purchased sooner.

Love the cover BUT , why is the bottom zipper not a double type ? if i want to use my tripod or monopod i have to have most of the bottom of the cover open, if it had a dual zipper the zip could be done up both ways so only the foot stuck out , i dont get what design engineer would miss something so simple like that ? it could do with a few extra straps along the length just to stop the material flapping as i have tons of excess ( im using it with a 300 F2.8 which is too big for the medium


Totally awesome but falls short of just one thing 

At the last minute, before my birding trip to Ecuador, I purchased the Emergency Rain Cover. It was a smart move, as my camera wore its rain coat all week, just as I wore mine. In fact, I never took it off, once putting it on. It worked like a charm; 1,600 photos later, the camera and large lens kept dry, and it was easy to use. I would not have been able to use my camera to the extent I did, if not for the Emergency Rain Cover.

Stroke of Luck 

We've had quite the rain fall here in Southern California. I like to go out when the clouds are full in the sky and the sun is setting. I do this with protection from the elements in mind, especially by salt mist from our oceans. Think Tank rain covers are the best. The choices and quality are awesome. Thank you Think Tank for the variety and quality you provide the consumer. I've been a part of the TT family since 2013.

Shooting in the California Storms

The medium size cover was surprisingly bigger than I thought it was going to be but fortunately I have a pretty good size lens that I use with my cameras and it will work just fine for it. It's a little too much for just a smaller lens and camera so I ordered the small.

It's a little on the sloppy side as far as size, but it would take care of all of the cameras that you may have. The only thing I could see where it would be an improvement if it had some kind of a shield to cover the lens when you don't have a lens hood

Bought the medium based on recommendation for use with 70-200mm. My longest lens is the Sony 70-200 f4 Macro G on which I often have the TC14 teleconverter. The small would have fit (up to 12 ½"). The medium is fine but clumsy and in the way with all shorter lenses such as my 24-70 f2.8 Gii and 16-35 PZ G.

The transparent rear window which allows use of the LCD will not work unless you remember to disable automatic LCD-EVF switching because the material hanging over the photosensor along the EVF tricks the camera into believing you have your eye to the EVF, thus shutting off the LCD.

I am in the outback of Maui and heading tomorrow to Kuaui. If I get caught in real rain I may use the cover, however for what I've encountered thus far the sealing on my lenses and camera suffice, plus I put a bit of gaffer tape over the plastic plug in the hot shoe.

So the sizing recommendation is a bit off for current Sony mirrorless gear, it is well made, confers excellent rail protection, has very effective attachment to the lens hood and hot shoe, but interferes with use of the LCD unless you enter the menu system to have the LCD always on.

Trade off of troubles

Over the past few decades I have used many different rain covers. They ranged fro plastic grocery bags to heavy duty rain covers. The problem with most of the so-called better ones was they were hard to put on and they were cumbersome to use. The cheaper one such as shower caps were easier to put on but provided limited protection. Think Tanks Emergency Rain Cover is the best I have used. It is easy to install and use with a Z9 and a 24-120 or a 70-200 lens mounted on a tripod.

Thankfully I haven't needed it yet. I do have a large one and I have used it. I love it.

Emergency rain cover

I bought the rain cover after being in the rain for an assignment. I first used the cover while it was snowing pretty hard. It worked great. But when I put my warm hand inside the cover it fogged up. I put on my thin glove and problem solved. This this save your gear.

Great cover. 

For bird photography in low light during snow or rain storms I am often using a pair of Godox AD300pro monolights. One right at my subject and the other either for backlighting or on the background. In the past I've kept them dry with ziplock bags but I was looking for a less wasteful option. I have some Godox silicone light modifiers that keep the flash head dry and these rain covers protect the rest. Bad weather makes for great photography, these covers allow me to make use of precipitation with less to worry about.

great value rain cover

Haven't had the need to use yet but covers are nice and a good value for the price. I also own the large cover for my 200-400 2.8 lens that I purchased a few years ago and that cover works very well.

Very nice rain covers

This cover easily covers my OM M4/3 camera with 300mm lens. It was actually larger than I expected, but that's fine as I can use it with larger lenses and bodies if I ever need to. Light weight and easy to pack. Good to have as extra protection in a down pour, even though camera and lenses are weather sealed.

Easy rain cover

I used this when I went to photograph the King tides and it was a biblical rain storm and up to 45 mph wind gusts the only thing that got wet was the front of lens. 
I have used cheaper product and they would slip off the lens, this held even in the wind. 
I would recommend this to anyone that is shooting in the rain and wind!

Essential Gear

Received today my medium emergency rain cover. First thing I noticed was there is no zippered bottom. It's only available on the large one. Something I overlooked as some dealers state they all have zippered bottoms. The medium and small have cinched pull elastic strings only at bottom. This won't affect my use of it with my set up.The hot shoe attachment could be moved over more in the centre of the clear plastic as the left side is slightly obscured, when hands are inside, with my small mft camera OM1, but definitely usable. Perhaps it is better without the zippered bottom as it does cover my smaller Jobu designs gimbal nicely too. All in all seems well built and should do the job nicely.

No zipped bottom on medium size

Very suspect 5 star average for 40 reviews. In any case who's bright idea was it to put THINK TANK in huge letters on this, and even worse "Emergency Rain Cover - Large?" Just a really poor look as I'm not into advertising brand names nor do I need the purpose of a tool written on it - it does not say "digital camera" on my camera. BH sells many rain covers, this one does nothing special and looks foolish.

Bad design

Haven't had a proper opportunity to test this out but it is very well made and a much improvement on the rain cover I was using previously! Can't wait for a proper storm to put it through its paces.


Easy to use and maneuver. Doesn't take up much space in my camera bag. Used with D5 and 400mm lens with monopod.

Rain Cover is perfect

Needed a rain cover for an upcoming Antarctic expedition. Something better than a trash bag, but not so extravagant that it can't be carried and deployed quickly and easily under adverse conditions. This seems to fit the bill! Very easy to deploy, generously sized so I can still get to all the controls. Can still see rear screen and viewfinder (with a bit of difficulty, but the rear of the cover can easily be turned up). Could work on a tripod, (tele lens with a foot mount) though it's not optimized for it - BUT it can work! For reference, this is for a caged Canon 5D IV and it will work with my longer lenses like a 70-200, 100-400, or my 38-300 with a bit of room to spare even when extended out all the way. Was really concerned if I should get the large or if this would work. Glad to report it will work great with the lenses I've listed above as a size reference. I'd think the medium would cover 90%+ of hand held shooting lenses, the large would work for some monster tele lenses and would work on shorter ones but you'd have a bunch of fabric wadded up to contend with. The medium seems the ideal size. I'm confident this will do the job if needed! Been using Think Tank stuff from day 1 and have never been disappointed!
