Recommended, but with Frustration

I searched high and low for a tether platform that would 1) reasonably fit the footprint of my Macbook Pro 13", 2) be mountable on a lightstand, and 3) be lightweight. This product is the only one that met those criteria. The obvious first problem is the price. This is a sheet of aluminium, with a lip on one side, and edges that aren't even very smooth. It does come with a mounting disk that you screw into the underside via 4 Allen key screws (included). The disk is a hefty block of aluminium with three openings to fit tripods and light stands. The stability is so-so on my light stand, partly because the mounting hole is offset (the three holes are in a row), and partly because it's on a lightstand. There are no breather holes for laptop ventilation either. I'd give craftsmanship a "B" at best, and (even though made in the U.S.A.), pricing is nuts. I saw no choice.
