Questions & Answers

Shopper : Are these necessary to attach a camera to the Pixel Racing Harness?JIM B : Not sure about the racing harness. I have a TTP backpack and the straps attach to the backpack straps. Takes the weight of the camera off your neck and disperses it to the shoulders. Works real well. Send an email to TTP support. They provided excellent support and answer gear questions quickly.TOM P : They work very well with the Pixel Racing Harness, in particular with the Thinktank camera strap which has rings in just the right place for these support straps. I have used them also with other backpacks equipped with suitable webbing on the shoulder straps such as the ShapeShifter.ELWOOD S : You need some type of clip. These are high quality and work well.LEONARD G : There is a need for connecting straps between the harness and camera. JACQUES L : My set-up is, Nikon D300, OP-tech camera strap w/quick disconnects, 1 pair of carabiners. I unhook the camera strap at the quick connects, than put carabiner thru loops, (Pixel Harness and camera strap). Lots of different configurations but roughly the same.BRAD V : Short answer - Yes. Love mine. I made short rings from a plastic covered steel cable crimping them with brass Ferrels and shrink wrapped to protect the camera body. My rings are 1 3/8" diameter and I can easily fit my fingers into them making for a good stabilizer as well. The rings I made make it easy to use a variety of clips for the cameras.GEOFFREY S : I think so - I've attached my camera support straps to a Thinktank Shoulder Harness (which converts my Urban Disguise into a backpack) and attach my camera to the Camera Support Straps via a Thinktank Camera Strap. The Thinktank site states that the camera support straps will attach to any Thinktank harness. I've used this setup when walking around a lot with my heaviest lens/camera combo (a Canon 100-400mm zoom on a 50D) and love it since the load is supported by my shoulders instead of the back of my neck.
Shopper : is the camera fixed or can you bring it up to take pictures?TOM P : You can adjust the straps so you can easily shoot without detaching the camera from the system. Works great!FRANK K : yes, you can bring it up. YOu can also change the length of the straps.ROGER S : No, the camera is not fixed and the straps are completely adjustable. You can adjust how far up or down you'd like the camera to hang.ROBERT A : You can bring the camera up to eye level, and have used as such many times. The only disadvantage is the camera can swing side to side if straps are too long. If rough hiking, I put the camera into the backpack. Nice to have options...depending on conditions.EDWARD B : The strap lengths are adjustable and having attached the camera to the Support Strap I can bring the camera to my eye for shooting. I used the OpTech Adapt-Its to attach a Canon body. Note I also have the TTP camera strap which has metal rings mid-strap that can be attached to the Support Strap for even more reach or to attach to cameras to the Strap. The most common use is with the , as most cameras do not have a ring to directly attach the Suppurt strap to the camera body. Think Tank camera strap <a href="http://www.adorama.com/TTCSBKBL.html" target="_blank">http://www.adorama.com/TTCSBKBL.html</a> OpTech Adapt-Its <a href="http://www.adorama.com/OTSC11.html" target="_blank">http://www.adorama.com/OTSC11.html</a>BARRY G : Camera is not fixed. There are two adjustable straps that can give you a maximum drop of over 12 inches. The pitcure shows the camera straps in the minimum position. The other thing to note is the camera strap hooks (with metal latches) can be positioned up/down on the harness for more flexibility. For me, worked better than expected.EDWARD M : I haven't used it with the backpack - only with the speed belt and harness. In those instances, the straps are very long and you can take shots. I am not sure if the straps that are just for the back pack are long enough or not. If it attaches to the think tank camera strap, then it will be long enough. That camera strap, though is not very wide... I don't know why they didn't make it a little wider.RYAN G : You can bring it up to take pictures by adjusting the strap. I actually use two bodies, one on each side, when I shoot weddings.GREG D : The strap length is adjustable so you could have it any where between 6 and 19 inches long, which is plenty to be able to shoot.BARRY G : the think tank straps are wonderful and this is my second set. i have a think tank belt and shoulder harness and another hydration pack for long distance day hikes by another manufacture. i got tired of having to switch the straps. the straps are fully adjustuble from up tight to hanging at waste level. i pack two nikons, a d40x and a d5000 and when i am on the move one is with a normal lens and the other with a 300mm, both hung only from one of these straps. the only thing you have to add to the camera is a ring on both sides of the camera where the strap will hook. i bought mine at big 5. this makes switching straps very easy. the straps are very easy to attach to almost any daypack with a shoulder strap with a d ring as pictured and i have hiked way to many miles with mine and they are perfect.BRYAN S : The camera can be moved around. How much you can move it around depends on how long you adjust the straps. If you don't want the camera to bounce while it hangs then you can fashion an elastic strap that goes around your belly.CLAUDIA V : Just went and tried it out. I have only used the straps as an additional attachment for the Think Tank Holster 20 V2.0 (takes some of the weight off the harness and the holster sits higher this way. I am short (5'4) and the holster with the harness hangs to deep when hiking steep mountains). The support straps consist off two straps that are length adjustable. Yes, you can bring the camera up and take pictures and have it rest comfortably on your chest when not in use. Straps work well with the camera and the holster. Very good quality.MARJ K : The strap length is adjustable. By extending the straps, you can let the camera swing loosely enough to bring it up to your eye level.MIKE L : The strap attaches the camera securely to the harness, but it is designed so it's easy to bring it up to take photos. Ideally the camera rests at chest level so it doesn't sway annoying when you're walking around with it on. I carry my D700 with 70-200 f/2:8 this way and have no issues. Very comfortable, wise investment.

Short credential holder

Think Tank's credential holders are the best out there. I use both the short and the tall and love that they also have pockets for other smaller items.

High quality and frees up your hands.

Very versatile and sturdy. Securely holds a variety of different sized credentials and it can also be a handy spot to stash a phone when you don't want to have to wrestle it out of a pocket.

Works well in calm wind

Works as intended. I bought this for the 2024 total solar eclipse, which I am using a laptop tethered to a camera. Obviously, the bright sun will be a factor for the majority of the time. This shade facilitates use of a laptop in bright conditions. However, with gusts of wind at 9+ mph, there is a risk of wind catching it. I am using a nylon strap to affix it to a Roland SS-PC1 tripod laptop stand because I misplaced the clamps that came with the stand. It would be beneficial if future versions of this shade came with a way to anchor it. I'm using a MacBook Air, which is very lightweight.

Perfect for backlit studio work

I just purchased the Pixel Sunscreen for my studio so that clients (commercial and portrait) could review the work we create onsite better. I was having trouble with clients being able to see their proofs if there was a lot of ambient light or backlight in the studio or on location and wanted a way for them to see the correct exposure without having to turn all the lights off or change the position of the laptop. There are lots of pockets to store items as well as get the cords through. It's been great so far and I am excited to work with it.

Perfect for racing events

I bought the long credential holder for the long passes they give you at racing events such as Motorcross events. I keep my pass in the clear pocket, my phone in the other pocket and my license and debit card in the zippered pocket on the back. Perfect when wearing sweats or shorts and you want to travel light. I also own the short edition and highly recommend both.

Ok holster but not compatible with all Think Tank Digital Holsters

Works ok, but I bought this along with a Digital Holster 5, which does not have the loops on the bottom for the grey straps. I can use it anyway but these will be swinging free and might be a nuisance. The instructions say "attach to any Digital Holster V2.0" so be careful that it is fully compatible. Perhaps the thinking is that no one would use a harness for such a small bag but that is exactly what I wanted to do.

Carried for 10 years

I've dragged mine to **** and back for a decade now, and other than the belt loop stitching starting to go, it's still fine. Nothing I can't fix with 10 seconds and a sewing machine. Another advantage is that the Tall holder fits a standard 4"x8" reporter's notebook.

Perfect size

I often cover events at Kennedy Space Center. The window provided holds both my ID and the NASA ID issued for launches with ease. But KSC is not the only place I use it - it goes everywhere. I have two pens on the back side and my cell phone in the pocket. Quality is excellent - as I would expect from Thinktank.

Almost Perfect

Firstly, I love this credential holder. It has plenty of room and space for all the things you would keep close to your person. Pens, mini notebook and an extra pocket for gum, mints etc. What is missing is in the area of the credential pocket. I wish there was some sort of stitching or small divider to keep your credentials from sliding around. It would be cool to have two individual pockets inside of the big pocket as an option to use. Small gripe, definitely.

Sleek & Practical

I originally purchased this to securely display my credentials, but after receiving the product I learned there were other pockets. The design is really smart. You can tell it was designed by real photographers.

The Pixel Sunscreen makes laptop viewing possible out doors in bright sun. The only downside is wind. They act like a sail.

I decided to buy a credential holder for when I go to conventions and trade shows. I just received it and so far so good. Same quality as all the other products that Thinktank offers. I'll try it out and give an update.

Waiting for Version 3!

I found this harness to be supremely uncomfortable. There's no effective padding around the neck and shoulders and it hurt in trial outings! The shoulder strap for my digital holster v2, also has little in the way of all day comfort padding. My Op/Tech camera strap uses thick neoprene padding that works well along with lightweight, high quality nylon fasteners that weigh less than the antique looking, pot metal like hardware used as quick disconnect fasteners on ThinkTank gear. Weight savings has to be the criteria for every aspect of a thoughtful carrying solution. Finally, I replaced the shoulder strap on my digital holster with a thick neoprene strap and added a comfortable fabric belt to make use of the digital holsters excellent side belt attachment. Now, I have an excellent solution that makes the fantastic digital holster V2.0 work well for carrying my Canon 6D and a heavy Canon telephoto zoom lens all day at the upcoming Reno Air Races. My other heavy lens will go in my old small camera bag on my other side along with any other needed stuff.

Very satisfied ... untill it broke

Since end 2020 I have been using the V2.0 version, not against the sun, but at night to protect the laptop from humidity and to protect my telescope from the light of the computer screen. It was working perfectly until I unfolded it yesterday and found the frame broken in the middle of the straight front part, parallel to the keyboard. I do not have the feeling to have done something wrong when I folded it last time. However it is now almost impossible to use. I may try to open the seam at the location of the broken part to understand if a can fix it.

Great option instead of cheap ones events give you

I often work events that give you cheap holders for your credentials that are flimsy, hang too low, blow up in your face when there's any wind, etc. This holder fixes all of those issues. I now own both the large and small version of this holder and will only use the ones given to me by the event when they require it.

When you need it, you need it

Great tool. Before I bought my Pixel Sunscreen I spent the day in an outdoor media area with no shade. That's when I learned it's value. A full featured, well designed tool to shade the screen for editing when the location is out of your control.

Best Bag to shoot from

By AZ T.

The Speed Racer V2.0 was worth the wait. My only complaint is I didn't have this years ago when I really needed it. I started shooting in the late 60's and I can't tell you how many bags I have owned. This is the best EVER. After 40+ years of dragging photo equipment around my back is done. This ergonomic belt is fantastic it actually supports my back. The interior is very adaptable. I can carry a D3s w/28-70mm hood on. I can also carry a 70-200mm, 105mm, 50mm, 24mm and a SB-600, cables and r...

Love It!

By Monica R.

I was using a Lowepro Inverse 200 AW. I found it did not have enough pockets for my needs, the lenses did not fit properly in the bag because it was not deep enough nor did the bag hang right when I used it as a waist pack. And I found it to be heavy when everything was in that bag because I could not distribute the weight properly. So I bought this speed belt along with the Think Tank Modular Set. I am so happy and don't know why I did not do this a long time ago. When I went to Yellows...
