It works.

Needed a bag that could accommodate photojournalism by carrying two cameras, one with a 24 x 70, and another with a 700-200, with hoods on. I have two Fuji XT bodies, with grips, and point the tops to the left, and it works. But, what's most impressive to me is all the thought that's been put into every feature of the bag. Every piece of velcro, has a way of securing it or deploying it. Every flap has a means of stowing it. Somebody was really thinking. Features I miss? An easy way to carry a tripod or monopod.

Nice all around photo bag

The bag and its various pockets/compartments fits my needs. Wish it was a tad bit more soft/flexible but hoping it will break in over time. Comfortable strap. I like the expandable water bottle space which many don't offer, but the strap holder ring right above it is very stiff and makes a normal water bottle difficult to push in.

Perfect for and SLR and long lens

The build quality is excellent and it does not look like a camera bag. It houses a Nikon D3s with a 300mm lens attached, and a 24-70/2.8 and a 180/2.8 which is exactly what I want for this setup. I only wish it has a strap for a small tripod or a monopod.

Two Shooters, 80 Pounds of Gear, and We're Simply Amazed by These Bags

This is an unsolicited, non-compensated review. It is just an honest look at our recent experience in traveling to shoot the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, and all the practices and support races. Four full days of shooting, longest stretch was 32 hours without sleep, and about 40K frames, but that a different story. We had two shooters with 80 pounds of gear, in four bags, all carry-on, and it would not have been possible without our Airport Security V3.0 and Retrospective 20 V2.0 Shoulder Bags. These bags are amazing, and the amount of gear they hold is incredible. They made it actually easy to safely transport all the gear we needed, and they did it comfortably and efficiently. We simply cannot say enough about how impressed we were with this bag combo, and highly recommend it if you have to transport a lot of gear, and you don't want to chance - like we didn't - the baggage handlers with our valuable gear. Packing for an event like this is a balancing act between what you could need and what stays at the studio, always hoping you made the right decisions so as not to go "damn, we should of brought" at 3AM in the morning and you're doing long-exposure light trail shots or other widely varying composures, but this gear list had us covered for what we needed, and we did use all of it at point. Think tank shoulder bag

Love the new Retrospective 20 V2 bag - holds my Olympus EM1 Mk III with attacked 100-400mm, plus 40-150 f2.8 and 12-40 f 2.8, with room for flash, teleconverters! Much easier to carry and access than my prior backpack style bag! And very easy to travel with it! Quality is unmatched.

Around Laguna Seca and Sears Point

Overall excellent. I shoot a z7ll Nikon with a 100/400 or a 70/200 lens around these two tracks. I also carry a 1.4 and a 2.0 TC for more adaptive lens use. For inside the paddock I carry a 1.8 50 and a 1.8 85 all Nikon Mirrorless lenses. This bag allows me to easily access the lenses or carry the body attached to the 70/200 or 100/400 in the bag. Simplifies the climbing or descending the hills. I also often have an ice tea container in the outside pocket. I attach an aluminum hook so i can hang the bag off the fence at waist level. Better then on the dirt/mud/dust ground.

Awesome bag!

I absolutely love this bag. My only suggestion is that the flap flips away from the body, and that is no big deal. Going to buy a smaller one for when I just want the camera and a lens.

Retrospective 20 V2.0 Camera Bag

Excellent bag. I use it to carry my gripped D800 with a Sigma 100-400 attached with the hood in shooting position. 2 more lenses will fit either side. My 13? MacBook Air fits in the laptop pocket. I like that it is nondescript as a camera bag. I generally use it with only one attached lens to keep the overall weight down while walking about. I also like that I can squash it in my travel suitcase when its empty if the dividers are detached.

Love the Retrospective 20

Bag is great! Well thought out to fit a camera body with a 70-200 f2.8 lens attached, as well as the extra lenses and laptop. I love the traditional canvas cloth exterior.

LOVE this bag!

Yet another Think Tank solution that I couldn't find elsewhere. I wanted a basic bag that didn't scream "camera bag", yet still carry a full size DSLR with grip (D850), along with 2 or 3 lenses. This bag fits perfectly. I can carry my D850 with 70-200 f/2.8, my superwide (even my 14-28 f/2.8 fits!) and a couple of primes, as well as any necessary accessories. The bag comes loaded with useful features and is well organized. I love the feel of the canvas and expect it will get even more character as it ages. You can see and feel the quality both in build/premium materials. It's become my everyday go-to bag. Thank you, Think Tank!

Close to perfection

I needed a bag that could fit my FF DSLR with 80-200 2.8 attached, as well as serve as a daily bag for non photographic use. Retrospective 20 v2 seemed to be a perfect solution. I like it style, though it's a matter of personal preferences. I only found two downsides to be honest. Dividers. I wish these were little thicker, bigger, better. It's definitely the weakest part of this overall great bag. Fortunately these can be easily scrapped from some other bags, or even 'DIYed'. I also wish there was some padding in the flap, in the part that covers the opening. I store my camera in the vertical position, and I could even press buttons through quite thin flap fabric. I addressed that easily by putting a piece of clothing in the area that would normally hold piece of fabric used to close the bag. Don't get me wrong - I really like this bag. I although believe that a constructive suggestions are a good thing generally. Looking forward to version 3.0 :)

Perfect bag for every day use!

I was looking for a bag that would carry just the gear I use most. The large photo backpack I use to carry a lot of gear when needed is great, but impractical for day to day use. I needed a bag that would accommodate a large, gripped D850, a 70-200 f/2.8, superwide zoom and a couple of primes, yet small enough that it wouldn't be a chore to lug around. The Think Tank Retrospective 20 V2.0 fits that need perfectly! My camera and the 4 lenses mentioned fit perfectly. In fact, I can keep my 70-200mm on the body (albeit with hood reversed or off) and store the superwide on one side and the 2 primes stacked on the other (with the extra, included padded dividers). There's plenty of room for spare batteries, media card holder, filters, etc. The padded interior pocket for an iPad or smaller Macbook is a welcome feature (I keep my 10" iPad in there and there's room to spare). The front pocket is very roomy and well organized. My only minor "gripe" is that the opening to zippered pocket is covered by the velcro flap that holds the large front pocket closed. However, I only keep things that I don't need access to often in the zippered pocket, so it hasn't really been a problem. The zippered dust/security cover is a nice feature, especially with the option to stow it in the top flap or just stick it to the velcro. The rain cover is also welcome, given I'm in the wet PNW. The water bottle pocket is a must-have and it will accommodate a wide variety of bottle shapes/sizes. There's another zippered pocket on the back, as well as a pass-through to slide the bag over your rolling suitcase handle. The build quality of this bag is exceptional, inside and out. The materials used and construction are head and shoulders above other bags/packs I've used (from a company that begins with "L"). The canvas has a soft, pleasing feel to it that I love. I can tell that this bag will last many many years and develop more character as it ages. I think the thing that strikes me most about this bag is that it doesn't scream camera bag and how amazingly feature laden it is, yet retains such a simple, clean aesthetic. This is my first Think Tank bag, but it most certainly won't be my last.

Excellent Bag

I needed a bag for my Fuji X kit, including a Fuji 100-400 lens and came across this bag. I ordered it in Pinestone and it looks and feels great, plus it conforms to your body which makes it feel smaller than it actually is. I have used it in a variety of outdoor conditions and I never worry about it, but I know that I have the rain cover to fall back on if needed. It has loads of accessory pockets and neat touches (like the variable velcro tabs, the expanding side pocket and the zipped lid) in addition to the spacious main compartment. I have used it with one camera body plus 2-3 lenses (typically a 16/1.4, 80/2.8 and 100-400) and I can have any one of those lenses mounted on the body without any difficulty. I have also used the bag with two bodies and two lenses (I could fit a third lens in that situation but choose not to).

Best camera bag in the world!

This bag is everything you need and none of what you don’t need. Most bags are overcompartmentalized. These bags are just the ideal solution. I can get at my monster Nikon D4 with my 70-200 f2.8 attached and in the other pocket sits my Sigma 60-600. I’m a landscape photographer so these two lenses are about the most I ever need. Plenty of easy accessible room for filters, my iPad and whatever else you might need for the day. I don’t care for the large backpacks cause it’s too cumbersome to deploy the camera quickly. With this baby, I can whip the camera out in a flash if it’s on my shoulder or sitting on the passenger seat of my truck. I also enjoy the fact that it doesn’t look at all like a camera bag. Built to last a lifetime, plenty of protection and a wide array of sizes to meet anyone’s needs. Very reasonably priced too. I’ve tried every camera bag concept I could find and after using this for a month, well, let’s just say the search is over. Someone finally built a camera bag the way I would design one!

Classy and Practical

When I needed a new camera bag, I did not want the everyday style. Yet, needed something suitable for the gear I carry. Yet, not cumbersome. I was delighted to find this classy retro-style bag! Impressed with the canvas material. And the pass-through is a good add on. The bottle pocket holds my Hydro Flask securely. The bag is comfortable to carry even on extended hikes. Plenty of room for my mighty Nikon D800 along with a couple of lenses. And then some!!! (The weight of the workhorse 200-500mm lenses may be fine, only if I do not carry any other lenses.) This girl is very pleased and highly recommends this stylish bag!! Not to forget to mention Think Tank service is top of the line!!!! Superior company to deal with.

Retrospective® 20 V2.0

Excellent Product. This is great fit when you have a 70-200 or smaller lens. Bag is very expandable and can handle just about everything you need for a shooting event. Front pockets are expandable enough that can fit you flash and other lenses if needed. Think Tank again produced another great shoulder bag for photographers.

Retrospective 20 v2.0

it’s a great bag. because I am an enthusiast, the need to carry my stuff isn’t really there. I have a Tamson 18-400 which serves as my only lens for my newly purchased Canon 80D. the bag is great to securely carry my needs on the airplane. Then I take a sling and have the camera out. I purchased your small one battery and SD card holder. works well. If you could please consider an elastic strap as part of the bottle holder. my bottle is dwarfed by the size of the holder. Briggs and Riley computer backpack that i carry has an elastic strap for the bottle pocket to secure the bottle and compensate for sizes. you guys make a great product and I love the video analysis I can do before buying. Thank you for the quality of your product and service. V/R T. Dronkers, photography enthusiast

Excellent Improvement over the first version

I have a half dozen of Think Tank’s Roller Bags. They are excellent. I purchased the first version of the Retrospective 20 bag to be able to take a minimum amount of equipment for a quick shoot. The first version didn’t have the zipper lid to seal the bags contents in securely. My D5 is D850 with a 70 -200 mm 2.8 lens would tip the old bag over and slip out. This doesn’t happen with the version 2 bag. A lot of other small changes were made that really improved the bag.

Great bag!

My favorite bags are Think Tank Retrospectives — I own several. I like the “retro” looks, the strength of materials and construction, and the way I can fit my equipment (sometimes too much!) in their ample room. I have “replaced” my Retrospective 7 with a Retrospective 7V.2 and I really like the new features, particularly the inner zippered cover that adds a needed security measure for travel. etc. The 20V.2 is my first “tall” bag, which lets me carry my Fujinon 100-400mm. lens attached to my X-T3, along with other items. Great as a carry-on for air travel.

D850 with mounted 70-200mm, extra lenses and accessories is no problem for this bag. It is a nice alternative to my Mindshift backpack at times and surprisingly comfortable given its bigger size.

Fit the Need

Bought the Retrospective 20 V2.0 at the last minute for an African safari trip because it seemed to have the specs to fit my Nikon D7500 w/ Nikon 70-300 attached plus a Nikon 200-500 on end. It did and it worked like a charm the entire trip. It fit my camera, lenses (I also added a 35mm) and other camera supplies plus more. It was heavy fully loaded and the handle seam tore out half way through the trip otherwise I would of given it 5 stars.
