Big enough to hold two large camera bodies wit lenses attached with room for batteries and snack bars, but still small enough to fit under the seat in front of you as a carry-on bag (purse?)

Well made. Excellent quality. Well designed. Functional. A whole lot cheaper than Oberwerth.

I found it difficult to get the gear shown in the photos into this bag. A gripped D850 with Sigma 40mm, a Nikon 85 1.4D, a SB 800 in leather case, and I struggle to squeeze another 77mm filter size lens in this space. If you carry a flash, there's no room for the case. It seems like it should have been an extension of the 10 V2 but the dividers are slightly different. I don't like the front dump pockets when full because the Velcro straps allow small things to fall out. I don't like the zipper at all because it's very hard to zip around corners. If you carry a gripped DSLR and three lenses then keep looking. Most people have round head flashes these days and that will take away a lens position.

I bought this bag to take on safari for 3 weeks in Kenya and Tanzania; it workeded perfectly. It easily held my 2 x Canon EOS camera bodies one with a Sigma 12-24mm lens attached and the other with a Sigma 50-500mm lens attached. In addition I had a Canon 75-300mm lens, pair of Binoculars, extra batteries, SD card, and game viewing guide, and a water bottle in the bag. All were easily accessible. After 15 game drives and nearly 3,500 photos, I can attest that this bag is absolutely great. And the "quiet" feature to eliminate the velcro sound is outstanding--It made a difference when switching cameras while being up close to animals and birds. You won't regret having thus bag once you've used it in the field.

Heavy duty construction, well designed, fits my z9 and a few pro lenses plus laptop quite easily. An overall great bag.

This bag is perfect for my needs! Having to lug around multiple cameras and a laptop, this fits everything quite perfectly. It's also great that it has a built-in water proof cover.

Typically when I make a major purchase, I research and I pray. The research often involves checking with people with more experience than I have. Given that I'd used four Domke F-2 camera bags in succession, I had many thoughts before deciding to buy the Retrospective 30 v2.0 bag directly from Think Tank Photo. One downside to buying a camera bag online is not being able to see whether the amount of camera gear you intend to put in it will fit well. I got glowing recommendations from a B+H Photo rep online as well as a good friend (who says this is the best camera bag he's ever used). Still, when I (quickly) received my bag, I wondered if the bag was *too* large for me. Within a few days of use, I realized that I'd actually outgrown my earlier bag and the capacity would be fine when I needed that much space. The workmanship was fine on the bag. Among the features I like are the collapsible end pocket (for my rectangular water bottle or folding umbrella). For shoots when I needed to carry lots less camera gear, I researched (and prayed) again. I ended up also buying the Retrospective 7 v2.0, also in Pinestone, not black, directly from Think Tank.

The first Retrospective 30 (v1) I bought in 2011. It lasted me until now, of course during all the years the bag got vanished, (now more like white-gray than pinestone), also got few holes that I was fixing here and there, (not real holes but the fabric got weak over the years and started to rub here and there). I was really thingking of getting the new bag but couldnt make up my choice. The new retrospective 30 v2 was way too expensive to me so I was looking for something cheaper. But then I found the store with a big discount (I paid 130$ for mine) so I couldnt make any other decision than to trust ThinkTank bags again.. The new version (v2) has some nice things that the old one was missing. Finally I can close the bag from the top with the zipper and nothing comes out if i drop the bag. Also the extra space here and there is very welcome, the possibility to attach it to the roller bag, another pocket for the small ipad or laptop is also very handy. I hope this one will last me another 10-12 years and if it will get ready to replaced, i am sure I will buy Retrospective 30 again. Highly recommended. One thing I would love to see in another version - rainproof bag integrated with the bag like many backpacks do. I wouldnt have to remember about carying this little bag in one of the pockets.. I am sure it is possible to do with the new design.

I just got mine a few days ago, and I had just put my camera in for some repair work, so I have not actually used it yet. The bag is beautifully designed, with a LOT of storage areas and ideas I am sure to use. The material is soft and comfortable to shoulder, making it a daily-use bag when my camera is back home. The 'Pinestone' color of the cotton canvas is very easy on the eyes, and I think the overall appearance will essentially hide the fact that it is carrying my camera stuff. I look forward to shopping more with Think Tank. I have seen several of their products reviewed and used on YouTube, and this was the one I had a need for now.

Rough, rugged, and really awesome. This bag continues to amaze me each time I've used it. In the few weeks I've had it I've already hiked the Appalacian Trail, and traveled to serval states. It continues to serve me well.

I've been using a Retrospective 7 for years, have carried it through many countries and locales, and it has been great. The form factor works great for a standard DSLR and 3 lenses that don't exceed a certain length. Having just changed all of my gear, I needed a larger bag to accommodate a larger body and longer lenses, so I thought why mess with what's working, just get a larger Retrospective. That thought was wrong, as is the Retrospective 30. The volume works, but the configuration does not. The cover is like wrestling a blanket to get to your gear. It's so long you can't see over it until you crumple it down awkwardly and then it continues to billow in the way. The double outside pockets are awkward and a poor variant of what is a usable space on the smaller models. It also arrived with a flaw in the dye where something was stuck on the fabric so there is a light colored spot. But it's on thee bottom so I didn't care too much.

As a woman, I find it challenging to find a camera bag that doesn't break the back and one that fits our smaller torsos correctly. This back checks the boxes for me. I'm able to choose my most needed lenses and fit my D850 in this one nicely. It also has space for other accessories.

I have owned many camera bags over the years, but the ThinkTank Retrospective 30 V2.0 is the best one of them all. I love the messenger bag style, and the fact that it will hold my Nikon Z9, 2-3 lenses, and a variety of accessories. Also, the material is high quality and the overall construction of the bag is outstanding. I am really pleased with my purchase and will continue to be a loyal ThinkTank customer for future accessories.

I have had many camera bags over the years, and this is by far the nicest, best made, and practical bag I have ever owned. All of the gear I need for most photo shoots fits snugly, and are well protected. I especially like the zippered inner flap, the ease of configuration with the Velcro partitions, and all of the compartments for accessories. The only design recommendations I have are to modify the Velcro flaps for the two front pockets, so they don't cover the zipper for the inner front storage pocket. Secondly, zipping the inner flap is sometimes tedious and gets stuck in the corners due to the configuration of the carrying strap. Other that, this is one great camera bag from ThinkTank!

Bag is compact, but roomy. Holds digital SLR, two lenses and a flash, plus all the accessories, pens, pads, keys, etc. Great design, well balanced. Easy to carry.

I have the 30 V 2.0, that I bought for a vacation trip so I would not have to haul around my large bag. Great size! Held my camera body, nifty fifty, 24-105 L F4, 70-200 L F4, flash, I-Pad and accessories with plenty of room to spare. Be careful or you could overload it easy. Wearing it cross your should/body helps distribute the weight of everything in the bag. Carried it for several hours with no issues. The movable inserts make it where you can modify the interior ever how you need. Overall it was a very good investment. Build quality was very good. Expect it to last a long time.

I am able to pack all the camera gear I need for the day in this bag. Maybe an upgrade would be loops to hold a mono pod.

This bag is full of the features we come to expect and love from think tank. I have the black version. I like it because it?s the ideal size to throw over the shoulder for an assignment. I can carry a full-size gripped body with a 24-70 plus two lenses (the Canon EF 70-200 fits vertically) a flash and my 13? laptop (I?m sure a larger laptop was also fit) and various accessories. If I walk in with the camera on my other shoulder, I?ve got more than enough room for a wide selection of lenses or a second body etc. The ability to cover the velcro for easy and much quieter access is nice to have and I?ve used that feature on more than one occasion. In the next version I?d like an easier/quicker way to hide the velcro tabs, fitting them into the sleeves seems a little fiddly but not a deal breaker.

Nice material, but things can get loose .. I do like the bag and I have no complaints over the material or the craftsmanship of the bag however the design of the front pockets is such that if you're not careful things can easily fall out unlike my previous bags there's not a whole lot of structure to this bag it's very soft and the pockets easily flap open and the Velcro that secures it does not cover the entire opening so if you want a bag that's very casual and easy to reach into you're gonna love it. If want a bag that will hold your stuff if you accidentally knock it over my not so much. The stuff in the main compartment has a lid that you can zip shut which is great But the front pockets are not going to hold small things if you accidentally knock this bag over unless you Velcro the top flat down tight but even then I have lost a few small items. To be fair to the bag I can't really complain because I should have loaded it up before I took the tags off. I'm a big fan of Think Tank this my eighth bag, but i wish it was just a little bit more rigid

I had been looking for a new shoulder bag for myself for several years and finally locked into the ThinkTank Retrospective 30 v2.0. I am so happy to have pulled the trigger to get this bag. The superior quality and craftsmanship are second to none. I know that this bag will be a part of my life for a long journey. Being a traveling wedding, wildlife, music, and lifestyle photography can really abuse the equipment I travel with, and I am confident that the ThinkTank Retro 30 will provide the security needed to protect my gear while also looking extremely stylish. I purchased a second one for my wife and also have several other ThinkTank products. I have been beyond pleased with the quality of product they deliver. Will be supporting ThinkTank for many years to come. I highly suggest that you invest in their products as well.

I like how the bag holds my 3 lens, dslr, and charger. It will hold one more macro lens when needed. When I used the bag for the first time I especially liked that it could carry a 32 oz water bottle.

I recently purchased both the 30 v2.0 and the 20v2.0 - needing both for different scenarios. I really like the bags. They are spacious enough for the gear I need to take with me on different shoots and very comfortable to carry. Two suggestions however… I wish there were exterior mounting options for a tripod and I really wish the top covers opened to the outside making it easier to access my camera and lenses. Neither of these features are major… only suggestions. All in all I am very happy with both.
