What a great eyepiece! Got this for my birthday with a 102mm refractor. Of course the first object in the sky was the moon and it took my breath away! The clarity is unbelievable. I am new to using a telescope, but I've been a long time binocular astronomer and this eyepiece did not disappoint. Splitting double stars is a breeze and so far I've been able to find a couple of globular clusters as well. Granted there are chromatic aberrations but that is more the fault of the telescope than the eyepiece. I can't wait to put it to the test in a dark sky environment.

31mm Nagler I use this on both of my Telescopes. A 10 inch f5 Dobsonian reflector and a 12 inch Dobsonian reflector f5. I used it with my TeleVue 2" Paracorr Type-2 on both scopes. This eyepiece gave amazing rich deep views and tack sharp pin point stars out to the edge. When I used it without the Paracorr it gave the same type of view but with a little bit of coma. But that is to be expected with any fast telescope. With any type of eyepiece. I would highly recommend this eyepiece and give it five stars.

A very nice high power zoom. I chose the Nagler Zoom (as opposed to fixed fl) because I can regularly use the 6mm, and during the winter use all the way to 3mm in my SCT. It is significantly narrower in fov than all Naglers, but costs much less than Ethos fixed fl eps. Satisfied? Certainly! The optical quality is on par with any Tele Vue product.

I bought the 3-6mm Nagler Zoom for my quarter-century-old Tele Vue Pronto and couldn't be happier. The zoom range on the 480mm-Pronto is 80X to 160x, and the eyepiece is par focal through the range. Jupiter at 160x was super.

Stunning! I replaced an E-Lux 32mm with this Nagler and a Dioptrx. The views were shockingly better! I was laughing at the EP!

Even it is an older design it provides a very wonderful space walk feel with a lot of eye relief. 82 degree Apparent field of view is just about perfect.

This lens performs as advertised. It is sharp and suitable to use for planetary viewing. The different focal lengths are par focal. It lets you pick the magnification the sky allows, most often 180X or less in my New England skies. Some observers may have a set of dedicated planetary eyepieces of different focal lengths, but I think this eyepiece will satisfy most observers and is cost effective compared buying to multiple eyepieces.

Purchased from Adorama earlier this year, the TeleVue 3-6mm eyepiece is a great optic with excellent imaging that can be used in a variety of telescopes. Along with others, I was skeptical about its quality given the very small size and and the performance of a zoom vs. fixed eyepiece. Many zooms typically give up some image quality and a substantial amount of apparent field of view in exchange for convenience. Not the 3-6mm. Consistently high resolution from edge-to-edge, comparable to single-focal length eyepieces, in any of my optical instruments including a short focal length fluorite refractor, a 14.5-inch Dobsonian, and my Pentax 80mm ED spotting scope that I use for distant shorebirds (from about 85 to as much as 169X when viewing conditions are ideal!) provides great flexibility and value. The capability to dial in just the right amount of magnification for the state of the atmosphere is a big plus in addition to the high powers that can be used to enhance the viewing of detail. The ability to zoom the eyepiece from low to high powers makes it relatively easy (such as possible at very high magnifications) to find objects and more than offsets its somewhat limited 50 degree field of view. In summary, the TeleVue 3-6mm provides superb visual experiences and great fun!

I couldn't decide whether or not to buy the 3.5 Nagler, because I own a 7 Nagler, and a barlow, so I could get the same magnification without buying another eyepiece. Decided I would like the convenience of just changing eyepieces, instead of taking the 7 out, finding the barlow, putting the barlow in and then putting the 7 back in. I made the right decision - it is SO much more convenient to just change the eyepiece. I am using this with a 106mm refractor, so it is worth owning this, because it takes the telescope to the maximum magnification limit. That, of course, is only useful if there is very good "seeing" in the atmosphere.

This eyepiece was purchased to replace some entry level plossls in the medium power range for my 8" SCT. This was my first Nagler. The views are crisp and amazing. Beware, once you take the Nagler spacewalk, your other eyepieces may never come out of their case. This is now my most used eyepiece. Planetary contrast is good, deep space is excellent and the eyepiece barlows very well.

High contrast. Minimal chromatical abberation. To see all the 82 degree field of view you you must put your eyes very close to eyepiece. If you want to use all the field of view you may use paracorr optical element. Very good product.

I Love it! The construction of this eyepiece is what one would expect from TeleVue, it’s heavy in-hand and simply feels like quality. It has excellent machining, with fully multi-coated optics. the 82* apparent field gives that Nagler “space-walk” feeling, coupled with a well-corrected field all the way to the edge, in my Obsession dob.

I have the Nagler 31mm Type 5 and love it so much that I also bought the Nagler 26mm Type 5. It turns out the 26T5 is actually better in my scope than the wonderful 31T5. The slight increase in magnification of the 26T5 gives a slightly darker background than that of the 31T5. The true field is very slightly less than that of the 31T5. In my 5.5" F7 APO refractor star field is sharp pin-point all the way to the edge of the field. The eye relief is just right not too long and not short at all. The 26T5 is a large and heavy eyepiece and for some dob balancing may be a problem. If super wide and well corrected field is what you after the 26T5 definitely will satisfy you.

I purchased the 26 Nagler as a wide field eyepiece for my 15” Obsession f/4.5. Because of the fast focal ratio my telescope is very unforgiving on eyepieces. Without going into incredible detail, the Nagler was very well corrected which made for less comma off axis, it yielded a 5.78mm exit pupil, was para focal to the 17mm Nagler T5, has a TFOV of 1.17 degrees, and had good eye relief. The Televue 26mm Nagler T5 eyepiece is by far the best possible choice for any telescope in the f/4.5 range for wide field viewing. It allowed me to see dust lanes in the Andromeda (M31) galaxy, spiral structure in M51, and great detail in both M81 and M82 at the same time. I would highly recommend it to anyone serious about amature astronomy.

Amazing First Nagler

The Tele Vue 3-6mm Nagler Zoom 1.25" Eyepiece represents a significant advancement in the realm of high-magnification astronomical optics, challenging the status quo of short-focal-length eyepieces. This innovative eyepiece is a testament to Tele Vue's commitment to quality and performance, offering a seamless zoom capability with click-stop settings at 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm focal lengths. This feature allows astronomers to fine-tune magnification in response to varying atmospheric conditions, a critical aspect of high-power celestial observation.
Crafted with precision, the Nagler Zoom maintains a constant 50-degree apparent field of view across its zoom range, rivaling the performance of fixed-focal-length eyepieces. Its optical design, consisting of just 5 elements in 3 groups, minimizes the number of air-glass surfaces, thereby enhancing contrast and resolution. This design choice echoes the simplicity and effectiveness of classic Plossl or Orthoscopic eyepieces, yet incorporates the versatility of a zoom.
Despite its compact size and light weight of only 0.3 lbs, the Nagler Zoom does not compromise on user comfort. It boasts a consistent 10mm eye relief, which, while not ideal for eyeglass wearers, provides a comfortable viewing experience for most users. The eyepiece is parfocal throughout its zoom range and with other Tele Vue 1.25" eyepieces, ensuring that focus adjustments are minimal when changing magnifications or switching eyepieces.
The Tele Vue 3-6mm Nagler Zoom is engineered with full multi-coatings and blackened lens edges to reduce internal reflections and maximize light transmission, resulting in high-contrast images that bring out the finest details in planetary and lunar surfaces. The fold-down eyeguard, rubber grip-ring, and safety undercut are thoughtful additions that enhance the overall user experience. Additionally, the eyepiece is equipped with anti-reflection threads and filter threads, allowing for the use of standard 1.25" filters to further improve observation quality.
This eyepiece is a perfect match for discerning astronomers who seek the best possible visual experience, without the limitations often associated with zoom eyepieces. The Tele Vue 3-6mm Nagler Zoom 1.25" Eyepiece dispels the myth of the "compromised zoom" and stands as a pinnacle of optical innovation, delivering superb, tack-sharp views across its entire magnification range, even when paired with fast apochromatic refractors.
