I use this 3.5-inch extension tube (it's not 3" as suggested by the Adorama description) for allowing me to eliminate the diagonal mirror between my telescope and an eyepiece, so that the eyepiece is in-line with the telescope (not perpendicular). I have a refractor telescope and as a result a tall tripod, which can make the eyepiece too high when using the diagonal if the scope is pointed near the horizon. Eliminating the diagonal allows for easy viewing of objects near the horizon and also allows me to use the telescope for terrestrial purposes (which is helpful for sighting in the finder scope if my sighting target is land based). The quality of the extension tube is as you would expect from TeleVue (i.e., excellent).
