I've used this on SCT, numerous refractor telescopes and I use double sided sticky tape. I put down painter's tape first then the DST. Cleans up nicely after a session!

I ordered the Sol-Searcher for myself and a fellow night sky watcher due to the transit of Mercury that occurred this year. The unit was easy to install (it is made for TeleVue scopes but simple to modify the mounting for my Celestron CPC800) and very easy to align. It was tested the day before the transit and worked perfectly on the day of the transit. I would recommend the Sol-Searcher for anyone wanting the get a quick alignment on the sun.

I attached the Sol-Searcher to my Celestron C-8 with Velcro so I could easily remove and use it on my other scopes. At star parties people wondered why I couldn't find the sun. They said "it's that bright thing right there"; but having a solar filter makes it difficult to locate because it blocks 99% of the light. With the Sol-Searcher I can find the sun and align my scope in a minute or less compared to several minutes before I attached it.

I needed a solar aimer for my SolarMax 40. The TeleVue Sol-Searcher filled that need with ease and simplicity. Simply install on the scope with the supplied double sided tape and it is ready to go. Works simply, no adjusment needed and when used as instructed placed the alignment of the scope with the sun within 1 to 2 degrees. Simple, easy and works and at a reasonable price.

The Sol Seracher works great. It is easy to use and will put the sun in the general vicinity of your eyepiece. Since this is a 0 magnification device, the sun might be a bit off and you might have to hunt a little bit - it nt perfect and is not going to put the sun bang in the center of your eyepeice - but gets it pretty close. I am using it with a Lunt 60 solar scope. Where earlier i had to hunt for a long time to get the sun in the eyepiece, now it is much quicker with less hunting. Also, it is very safe - you don't look towards the sun, but away from it. Mount it with the hole toward the sun and the white screen away from it. and look towards it from the front of your scope.

The sun's image is projected onto the back circular part. Just move your scope until you see the Sun's image inside the white spot area.

There's only one job for the Televue Sol-Searcher and that's to locate the sun quickly for solar telescope observing. It's easy to use, and fits perfectly on my Televue Pronto set up with Coronado filters for solar viewing.

Always had trouble locating the sun thru my finder scope (Baader filter used of course!!!). NOT any longer. Easy mounting & alignment. Outstanding piece of equipment at a very reasonable price. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Just imagine safely and effortlessly locating the Sun with the Sol-Searcher Finderscope. This innovative device is designed with your safety in mind, allowing you to locate the Sun without directly looking through it, but rather at it. The Sol-Searcher's unique aperture functions as a "pinhole," projecting a clear image of the Sun onto a 1/4" translucent screen. This screen, viewable from either side, provides a safe and convenient way to align your telescope with the Sun.
The Sol-Searcher Finderscope is versatile and user-friendly, attaching seamlessly to the mount ring slot of every Tele Vue telescope, or to the rear cell slot in the Tele Vue Ranger. For those using non-Tele Vue telescopes, the Sol-Searcher can be mounted using #10-32 screws, or if necessary, attached with Velcro (not supplied).
Moreover, the Sol-Searcher Finderscope can be transformed into a quick-release accessory when mounted on QRD-1006 (Dovetail) used with QRB-1002 (Quick-release bracket). This feature adds to the convenience and ease of use, making the Sol-Searcher Finderscope a must-have for every astronomy enthusiast.
In summary, the Sol-Searcher Finderscope is not just a tool, but a gateway to exploring the celestial wonders with safety, ease, and precision.
