i9/1080 GTX AW 17 R5 - A great laptop for gaming!
I have been in possession of my 17 R5 w/i9 8950HK and NVidia GTX 1080 since Apr 28th, 2018, and have been gaming on it daily. It has performed flawlessly and while it does get warm (as all gaming laptops), it is nowhere near as hot running as the Gigabyte 15 w/980 GTX I replaced with it. In real world use (never been a big believer in synthetic tests built to stress GPU/GPU to maximums they will never reach in real world use) it has worked exactly as expected. The M17 laptop has come MILES from what it once was
I had the original alienware M17x (NOT the R1, the FIRST one) and it was NOTHING but problems for me right from the start. I was a little reluctant to make this purchase but I'm glad I did. I've had no problems with this machine at all. it's fast and it does everything I need it to do. It does tend to get a little warm at times but that's to be expected with a gaming laptop. Not bad at all!
