Best camera i have ever had. I got one used from Adorama (average rating) and it was perfect. such a great lens and makes everything look beautiful. Happy to be back into photography after being annoyed with cannon mirrorless cameras with big heavy lenses for the last several years....

Very good camera. The camera is compact, light, but powerful. Very easy to use for non-professional people like me. Good choice for travel and everyday use.

i was hesitant about spending this much on a fixed lens full sensor camera but the quality is outstanding. The camera is so much lighter than my Nikon and autofocus works very well. Leica keeps it simple. Beautiful

In my opinion, I’m not a professional photographer, I do not make a living being a photographer, I am just a photo enthusiast, and this Leica Q is an excellent camera. I like the feel, look, placement of the function wheels, and the lens. I find the low light capability amazing, and the shutter sound is very quiet. If you want to interact and take control of your camera as well as being more creative you will like the Q. I would recommend purchasing this Leica Q.

I found the Leica Q to be all the company says it is and more. I bought mine about a year ago with the handgrip accessory, a wrist strap, and two extra batteries. I use the manual settings and the camera has preformed very well in all kinds of shooting situations. While I would have preferred a shorter, 35mm rather than the 28mm Summilux lens, it delivers sharp clean images with extreme depth of field and for that reason I could not be happier. The camera can also be set up to shoot macro, a real advantage over their competition, namely Sony. It boasts a full-frame sensor that has a ISO range up to 12800. Battery life is good and can be easily extended by turning off live view while using the amazing electronic viewfinder. Don't let the price prevent you from experiencing this quality instrument. A solid investment for serious amateur or pro

There's an indescribable, almost painterly quality to the photos that Leica Q takes. It must be that Leica magic everyone talks about. I love both my Fuji Film cameras but the Leica Q just has that extra something that makes me excited to take photographs again. Could be that images always come out sharp, even under low-light, the color is amazing, it's very responsive, and the camera body itself is beautifully weighted with simple controls and a thoughtful interface. It just works. Straight out of the box. The 28mm lens is much more versatile than I expected, although you can digitally crop it to 35 and 50mm. I absolutely love that the macro mode can be accessed by twisting the lens. If you're like me and on the fence about buying this, just get it and don't look back.

I’m probably not typical. I do most of my photography with an iPhone and a Sony RX100m3. I have a bunch of old Nikon DSLR gear but I want my photography to revolve around my life not the other way around. As a result, I rarely use the DSLR gear and I also rarely shoot in RAW and rarely do PP. I was intrigued by the Leica Q and in researching, also became interested in the Sony RX1Rm2. The RX100 is my comparison baseline. I know – this is a bit strange of a trio for comparison, but for me they fill the same use scenarios. I prefer wider angles, so the RX1 is at a disadvantage there. As others have pointed out, Leica gets a lot right with the Q. The ergonomics are outstanding from the thumb impression on the back to the brilliant focus ring with the lock into AF or the little click out to MF. I also love the ring to move from normal focus ranges to macro and the manual focus magnification and focus peaking work well. The AF is very fast and the additional option to adjust focus point with the touchscreen is great. Everything is not perfect, however. It's really annoying that the lens and camera body aren't aligned on a plane so that if you set the Q on a flat, hard surface, it wants to tilt forward (due to the weight of the glass at the end of the lens, I assume). I often brace a cam like this in low light or for a longer exposure and it's nearly impossible with the Q. The Sony RX100 and RX1Rii both handle this with no problem. I did a lot of shooting with the RX100, RX1Rii and Q and with the EXIF data hidden, I could pretty easily pick the RX1 out from the 100 and the Q but could often not distinguish the 100 and Q. Now obviously with FF vs 1" there were some DoF differences between the 100 and the Q but in looking at the in focus areas they both shared, I often couldn't tell them apart by IQ. The RX1 really destroyed both of the others in IQ. The other factor I didn’t like with the Q was its almost obsessive tendency to use f/1.7 with everything on full auto. I honestly thought for a couple days that there was a FW bug causing full auto to lock on f/1.7. With FF and f/1.7, you often get too shallow a DoF when shooting animals or people. So I found myself defaulting to aperture priority, which can cause a lot of missed moments in much of the shooting I do. The Q is also significantly bigger than the RX1 which is in turn significantly bigger than the RX100. In real life, the Q appears to be bigger in each of H, W and D than the RX1 which is bigger in all three dimensions than the RX100. The Q is really not pocketable under any definition while the RX100 is pocketable in almost any pocket. The RX1 is “semi-pocketable”, made difficult mainly by its depth. Factoring in all of this plus the $4K+ price, I returned the Q. I just wasn’t sure I would get the value from it, especially with the f/1.7 issue and the IQ that’s a full generation behind other sensors. If Leica released a Qv2 with a menu option to prefer a higher f stop in auto and a more competitive sensor, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat.

I love the Leica Q. The images it produces are simply different, they seem to explode!!! The only problem is you start wondering if you should go into the Leica M system...

I owned many cameras. Very good quality ones. However Leica is Leica. And the Q is a very good one. The main reason for that is the exceptional optics and color processing. Not to mention many other reasons like very simple controls and very "classic manual" handling. The camera makes you want to shoot more. Some say it is expensive. Well, it is hand made in Germany and extremely high quality. Every detail is well designed and engineered. I guess we are so used to Chinese cheap, that everything that actually deserves to be a bit more expensive is "very" expensive. If you actually do the mat and try to by optics and body from a similar quality, you will spend around the same money. I would recommend it to anybody who likes to shoot on the street, architecture and landscapes. Which is pretty much everything except portraits. Of course it works for that as well, just not the perfect focal length. You need to get closer. Great size for traveling and believe it or not, but the 28mm lens is very appropriate choice for all that. Try it, see if you like it...it is very personal after all. Just don't decide only based on the price . Good engineering and piece of mind deserves to be paid appropriately.

Its the best fixed lens full frame sensor camera I have used. Images are always sharp from corner to corner. Colors are well saturated. Autofocus is fast and spot on even in relatively low light. I have the special edition titanium. For me, with the titanium colored body and rope neck strap its well worth the extra price. Its a Leica, its quality, its built to last...

Only issue is I am addicted to telephoto. It has effectively 4 lens in one body and the autofocus is remarkable.

One of the most intuitive cameras I've ever experienced. Very easy menus and controls, fabulous in fully manual and beautiful sharp images. This camera is everything I'd hoped it would be. However, hand holding for any length of time is not easy. I ended up adding the hand grip and finger loops, which will add approx $ Ridiculously expensive add-ons, but really makes a big positive difference to the grip, especially for street photography.

After a long, and miserable search, finally found the Leica Q and fell in love with the simplicity of it's user interface. Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus and Canon all failed me. Not having been a long time DSLR shooter, my expectations about camera interfaces are probably strange or unrealistic. The Q doesn't just get out of my way and let me have fun - it actually inspires and nurtures MY creative process. Worth the price for IQ? Certainly not, though it's images ARE gorgeous. But worth it to improve my PROCESS? Unquestionably, yes!

This camera takes photography to a whole new level. Because of the speedy way it can focus, you are able to those moments that can be over in seconds. I currently own a Leica M8 and X1 and I can say they are phenomenal when it comes to artistic photography, however they are not as speedy as the Q.

I've used Nikon's for years and a few years back I was looking for a smaller camera to hike with. I tried the fuji x100 but it was d.o.a. so I quickly returned it. I moved on to the Olympus 4/3 system but was usually disappointed with the menus, quality of pics, etc. i was actually looking to upgrade to the new Olympus OMD M1 Mark ll but was nervous that I would again be disappointed. Took a flier and purchased the Leica Q and couldn't be happier. The menu system and manual focus are the best I've seen. It allows you to focus on composition instead of fiddling with the menus. I'm quite pleased with the photos I have taken thus far.

I've owned Sony and Nikon cameras. After purchasing this Leica Q, I'm completely hooked. The pictures that are coming out of this camera are an absolute dream. I'm now looking to sell my Nikon and switch completely over to Leica.

I went from a Canon 5D mk ii to Sony A7R to Sony A7S, now I'm here. Always been impressed with the Leica rendering and this camera hasn't disappointed. Controls are easy to use and the touchscreen is a nice feature.

There's something very unique about the Leica Q that reminds me of the initial Fujifilm x100, only much better. The EVF is perfection to look through. However, one drawback that I've noticed is that internally, there's some light reflecting from the lens elements on the bottom half that may take getting used to. Other than that, I loved the manual controls, especially the focus ring. It's an extremely fast camera, and amazing optics to boot.

The Q really has it all: superb image quality in a compact, lightweight package. Until owning this camera, I never realized what a difference well laid out menus make for the overall shooting experience. Leica has put such thought into this design element and in doing so, puts the camera on par with the M and other professional series. I can't say enough good things about it, and neither can other, more seriousreviewers. I strongly recommend anyone considering it to read the thorough reviews by Craig Mod, Carsten Overgaard, and at the Red Dot forum. Though the latter is surley less objective than the former two, given the association to Leica itself, one can't have this camera in their hands for a few days and not help become smitten with it. The only (very legitamte) reason to balk at purchasing the Q is its price. It's by no means overpriced, but it surely is expensive. Don't be afraid to purge those zoom lenses, backup bodies, and other heavier gear as I did to facilitate spending this kind of money on one camera. With this in your hands, you won't miss any of that other stuff anyway.

As soon as I handled this in the store I was sold. You'll want one if you test it. Lighting fast autofocus, simple controls, clean looks, Leica image quality. The Fuji's are really nice but this camera is at a higher level of fit and finish. Although it's pricey, you're getting a Summilux lens and great performance in a perfect package for travel, landscape, street, or architecture. Really well done, Leica.

LEICA Q - PIONEER BY TRADITION
The Leica Q with its fast lens, easy and intuitive handling, gives the user the creative freedom that makes the difference. With a 24-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor and the Leica Summilux 28 mm/f 1.7 ASPH lens, the Leica Q gives the user the best possible picture in any light situation. The Leica Q is almost noise-free and takes pictures which highlight details even in high ISO. The Leica Q has a locking function which allows the user to switch between automatic and manual focusing. In the macro mode, the Leica Q has a close focusing distance of 17 cm. True to the Leica tradition, the Leica Q focuses on the essentials and is made in Germany.
LEICA Q - PRACTICAL FEATURES
The Leica Q has many unique features that enhance the user's experience. The camera has an integrated 3.68 megapixel electronic viewfinder, allowing the user to see the finest details of the image. There is a thumb rest on the back of the camera, ensuring a solid grip in one hand. The point of focus can be easily selected with a tap of the finger to the touch screen.
LEICA Q - FASTEST LENS IN ITS CLASS
The Leica Q has the fastest lens in its class, the Summilux 28 mm/f1.7 ASPH. The lens offers many creative possibilities with selective focus. With its classical focal length of 28mm, it reproduces scenes with natural perspectives and proportions. It is ideal for street, architectural and landscape photography. The Leica Q's wide aperture and built-in Optical Image Stabilization offer exceptional imaging quality in any lighting situations. The camera's autofocus also functions in real time and is the fastest in the compact full-frame camera category. With a newly developed processor from Leica Maestro II series, data arriving from the sensor is processed at enormous speed. This allows the user to shoot continuously at a rate of ten frames per second at full resolution, much faster than all other comparable cameras.
LEICA Q - DIGITAL FRAME SELECTOR
The digital frame selector of the Leica Q expands your creative scope. In addition to 28 mm at full resolution, this function also offers focal lengths of 35 and 50 mm. The corresponding frames are displayed in the viewfinder at the push of a button. The advantage - you can still see what is going on outside of the bright-line frame and have the ability to react more rapidly to changes in and around the scene in the same way as with the a rangefinder camera. With the Leica Q, this versatility remains available even after the scene has been captured. While the scene defined by the frame is captured in JPEG format, DNG format files preserve the entire field of view of the 28 mm lens.
LEICA Q - VIDEO FUNCTION
The Leica Q allows for video recordings in Full HD 1080p that give a cinematic look. It can record 30 or 60 frames per second. The Leica Q records high-quality moving pictures in MP4 video format and an integrated wind noise filter guarantees crystal-clear sound to match.
LEICA Q - SHARING IN A SNAP!
With integrated Wi-Fi, the Leica Q allows the photographer to shoot and share pictures and videos via e-mail, Facebook and other social networks. With its wireless transmission, it is possible to share pictures directly from the Leica Q to a smartphone, tablet or computer. The Leica Q app is available for free download in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
LEICA Q - REMOTE FUNCTION
The remote function of the Leica Q app allows the user to connect a smartphone or tablet to the camera wirelessly and use it as a remote control for the camera. This allows the user to set the shutter speed, aperture and activate the shutter release remotely. This allows for self-timer shots, group portraits and easier shooting from difficult angles.
LEICA Q - MADE IN GERMANY
The Leica Q reflects the principles of reduction to the essentials and is made in Germany. The materials used ensure exceptional endurance. The top plate is machined from solid blocks of aluminum, the body is made of magnesium alloy, and all lettering and the numbers on the setting dials are laser engraved.
