As good as it gets.
I have found this to be an item that I can proudly boast about for some time. Recording music, I have use for a responsive, external HD and this unit covers the speed portion with flying colors, and has enough space for me to record many songs. I highly recommend it.
Perfect for all my needs
We use this in RAID 1 to store and backup all of our company files and in multiple formats. The VR works great for editing video files as well and all of my company's videos are edited off the VR.

It is designed to connect with Mac, Linux, or Windows PC via eSATA, FireWire 400, FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 connections. Performance (RAID 0), Protected (RAID 1), or JBOD can be configured from the back panel, or via the software provided. In performance mode, the CalDigit VR can utilize 2 SATA drives with speeds of up to 200MB/s and play back 10 bit uncompressed SD. In protected mode, the CalDigit VR provides continuous, full time protection of valuable digital content. If a hard drive should fail, the CalDigit VR will automatically rebuild your content in a short period of time.
