The ballhead and quick release plate are not satisfactory. But the tripod is stable and lightweight.

I purchased the Gitzo GT1545T Traveler Series 1 Carbon Fiber Tripod and GH1382TQD Ball Head because I am using a tripod more than I used to. I use it for control over ISO in low light, for sharper landscapes and for focus stacking. I take it when I fly or shoot in a crowd. I was not using my aluminum travel tripod faithfully so I decided to replace it with the carbon fiber Gitzo, because it is lighter, sturdier, and has an excellent ball head. The Arca Swiss style ball head is easy to use and works with all my plates and brackets. Now I carry the Gitzo Traveler and an extra lens in a day pack, with no back pain. I also own the Gitzo GT4533LSUS full size tripod. Both Gitzo tripods provide world class design and craftmanship.

I too had this Tripod for just a few weeks when the pan knob fell off during a shoot, as well as one of the rubber feet. Note: it says rubber feet are replaceable. This is not true; one is stationary the others easily screw off (and apparently fall off). Gitzo’s customer service was horrible. I emailed several times with no response. I would return this if I could, first and last time I purchase a Gitzo product.

I purchased this tripod in early July 2017 to use on a trip scheduled for October 2017. I used the tripod 5 or 6 times to get comfortable with its controls. In unlocking the pan knob in normal use the rubber ring snapped and popped off. I contacted Gitzo and the rubber ring replacement, which is not an in stock item would cost me ($) plus another ($) for shipping. Surely you jest. A tripod that is three months old, and treated very well, has parts that fail and they are not covered under warranty. I have multiple other tripods, RRS and Gitzo and have never had this happen with years of use on any of them. I'll never purchase another Gitzo product if this is the kind of quality and service I can expect from a $ tripod/head combination. Buyer beware!
