Used Nikon HB-61 Bayonet Lens Hood for 40mm f/2.8G Micro

Fits better that the one supplied with my Nikon lens. My original never really clicked on to my camera lens and I subsequently lost it whilst doing nature photography from a kayak on Lake Griffin. Yes, it fell off, plopped and sank into the murky depths of the lake! Didn?t try to retrieve it for fear of alligators watching from close by!

I also thought the hood was extremely loose, but this hood clicks into the camera lens. Have to use some force to screw it in. Not the best construction/design.

Somewhere, somehow, I managed to lose my original lens hood, and was glad to get my replacement piece so quickly from Adorama. They always provide me with good service.

This hood does not snap into place. There is nothing to hold it on the lens; it can fall off at anytime.

While the HB-61 does fit on the AF-S DX Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G, it is extremely loose and if you rotate the camera more than once, it falls off. I expected more from Nikon.

A simple device that does the job. All lens hoods help keep light from washing out your images. Some people don't use these but I always do. When used the contrast is better and the colors are richer. The marketing hype is actually true and they do work.
