Using this adapter with an SDXC is a vast improvement over the original SxS chips. SD's are cheap and available just about anywhere. AND you don't need to use the pricy — and slow — Sony SxS USB reader,

I have several of these, but I recently had to add another one to my inventory. It was not formating so I went to the Sonnet website. On their website it says that the adapter needs to be in slot two in order to format it and use it for the first time. I don't remember having to do this with my other adapters for them to start working. Anyway it works great. A lot cheaper than buying the Sony SXS memory.

This card works just fine and saves me $$ on SxS cards for my EX1R. The SD card easily pop in and out, the device is well made so what is not to like about it!

Sonnet's SDHC Adapter for SXS Camera Slot allows the SDHC card to fit flush inside its shell. This critical feature makes the Sonnet adapter interchangeable with SXS cards and ensures your camcorder's memory card slot door closes completely with the adapter inserted. Using the SDHC Adapter for SXS Camera Slot is easy. Just insert your SDHC card into the Sonnet adapter and then insert the Sonnet adapter into your camcorder and format the card-you're ready to record.
After recording is complete, remove the SDHC Adapter for SXS Camera Slot from the camcorder and swap out SDHC cards using the integrated push-to-eject mechanism. Because SXS cards share the same form factor and interface as ExpressCard/34 adapters, you can insert the Sonnet adapter directly into your notebook computer's ExpressCard slot to offload the files from the SDHC card.
