Expensive Plastic
It didn’t fit. You have to be careful when ordering the correct hood as there is a difference in 24 - 70 mm Nikon lenses.

BROKEN HOOD START AGAIN w/GARBAGE
This is no more than the same poorly designed hood to begin with in the first place. You are probably reading this because the plastic snap lock mechanism on your hood failed and you need to replace it. Less you hood does not stay secure on your lens. Welcome to the modern error or cheap and get 'em spending regularly. This is not a nikon issue, but a global I.D. issue. This hood is designed to fail after 300-500 clicks. Why, because it's cheap to design, manufacture and sell.

What I needed
It's a lens hood. It fits on the camera. Not much more to say about that. However --- The strap on my camera broke and it landed on my old lens hood -- breaking it -- but it made me realize that the lens hood had saved the lens. Therefore, I decided not to ecnomize when buying a new lens hood. I bought the one made by Nikon in the hope -- and expectation -- that it would prove as sturdy as its predecessor.
