Used Freefly Movi Cinema Robot Stabilizer for iPhones and Smartphones

I purchased this and received it this weekend, 10/8/22. Out of the box, when the iPhone 14 pro max is balance, the 1x main phone picks up the gimbal arm in the framing, which means that the best camera on the iPhone is unavailable for shooting. A potential fix is hard to come by, because the counterweights are not available on the Moment Website and not able to be found on the internet. There really should be a set of disclaimers on the Moment website as I feel that I just burned through $299 in cash which could have been spent elsewhere on this fine website.

Very solid construction and pay load especially with moment lenses. I absolutely love the filmic pro integration.

my only criticisms are: the movi app should have the wide angle iPhone option-in the app also the buttons on the device should be able to control the device similar the the osmos, instead of the just the exposure.

I have just purchases the freefly Movi and its brilliant, simple to use get you can get set up quickly, I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max, my only gripe is that the wide lens capture the motor in the shot, so I have to move the phone more to the left, which make it out of balance, I can still get level shots but hope a firmware update will sort this without have to buy the counter weight system.

This is a pretty cool device with a lot of upside. It's perfect for what I'm using it for (real estate videos/self promotion type of content); however, it takes a lot of getting used to. I wish there was an easier way to attach an external mic, plus I wish there was a joystick control for the motor. It can be very handy to manipulate movement of the camera/phone by simply thumbing a joystick.

However, I don't have a Hollywood budget, and this device has opened new doors to creative choices I would not otherwise have at my disposal.

I was so excited to get this item. I spent hours of research and looking at reviews. I finally pulled the trigger and bought it for a wedding I am shooting in November. I went to use it for the fourth time a few days ago and it is very shaky like if it has the shivers.

I haven't used the movi freestyle yet. I was sent a defective control weight set I mailed that back in.they were stripped so it doesn't tighten the weight on I just keep falling out

Now finding a gimbal that will support an IPhone 11 Pro Max along with moment lenses with filter mounts has been very difficult to find. Even with the freely movi cinema robot it was hard to find consistent user experiences. But just enough to give this gimbal a try. I’m here to say it WORKS! But will definitely need to get the counter weight systems in order to make this all work . I have both the adjustable counter weight and the XL counter weight kit in order to get the perfect balance. As for the gimbal it definitely will handle this payload. Movi motors do not vibrate or have any other distorting factors of it while in use. BUT make sure to auto tune several times once you get it balanced. Also freefly’s customer service is top notch. ( i contacted them to see if would handle my specific payload, which they stated it did and it does) I would highly recommend this for users of large phones.

As a dog trainer who specializes in filming and editing really awesome videos, I need a stabilizer that doesn’t catch my steps and makes smooth turns. I’ve have the DJI Gimbal 3 and the DJI Osmo Pocket and didn’t have true success with them. This is definitely worth every penny. So easy to get your phone in and out. And the videos go right on your phone rather than having to download. The Movi app is easy to use and has some cool features like controlling the response time that the Movi senses your movement.

Gimbal itself is impressive but the actions are all through an app. App crashes every time I go to record with my Samsung S10. Not a great time. Reviews show it will work with iPhone though. If you have an android, I suggest not buying this.
