Secure grip with my D800 and Nikkor 24-70 glass, horizontal and vertical. Smooth rotation and locks tightly in place with no movement. Not as heavy as some reviews had said, at least to me. Nice, natural feel to the grip as well.

Great functionality and perfect fit to my hand. I had the opportunity at Imaging USA to visit with a Manfrotto rep and they suggested this one would be a good fit for my work and my hands. I am not disappointed. Very pleased with this purchase.

My first ever purchase of a tripod head and I needed it to support a a lot of weight (Nikon D3s plus the potential 24-70). It is very smooth and easy to operate. My only problem is that the knob to lossen or tighten the movement is a little obscure and hard to understand unless you stick you head under the handle. Otherwise, it's a great product and works just as I expected it to.

For the price, you'll not find a better tripod ball head. Extremely dependable.

I have the model 322rc2 pistol grip which is good but this is great! More ergonomic; a very convenient and quick way to frame and shoot.

This is a really well made piece of gear. I'm confident it will give me many years of good service. Having the grip to the side of the camera will take a little getting used to but after just one excursion taking macro shots I found it intuitive and simple to use. The balance was fine with my Nikon D7000 and 105mm Micro lens. I would not have thought that a ball head would give me as much confidence in stability as this one has, most impressive!

I purchased this because it was in the group of suggested camera equipment in Bryan Peterson's list on his camera equipment back in July 2011 when I needed help choosing. It is so much better than my father's sixty-plus Fairfax elevator. After seven months, I do like the quick release plates. Currently, I have one on each of my DSLR cameras. I purchased the Blackrapid R-Strap Belt and converter d-ring. So, I can move quickly from tripod to putting it on my Blackrapid. I have found in macro shots, it slips when releasing the joystick if I'm holding the camera with the left and the joystick with the right. To avoid this, I must hold only the joystick when releasing, and that's hard for someone with arthritis. Sometimes, I hold the joystick with both hands and release them that way. It's pretty hard to line up the exact spot wanted, and compose in camera as the experts tell us. Also, once I get the desired composition, I must take care and use a light hand on the camera itself, otherwise the camera moves and it's back to in camera composition. I plan to upgrade.

I also own the older 322RC2. This newer unit is a little lighter, but it is actually longer when extended onto my travel tripod for carrying. My main complaint is that you cannot really flip the grip over to use it with your left hand, so you can operate shutter with right hand. When you flip it over, the squeeze grip faces backward instead of the more natural feeling forward. On the 322RC2 your can flip it, and get the squeeze grip facing forward on either side.

Being able to use with one hand more than offsets the additional size

This unit does not have a good forward/down range of motion. In order to get a downtilt the legs of the tipod need to be adjusted.
