It is real protection for my camera gear and bullet proof.
Small glitches but overall great
I use the pack for all around transportation of gear whether on the city streets or in the back country. Strong, light weight, comfortable. The zippers are hard to unzip but thats easy to fix with a little silicone spray.
The compact R-102 is designed to hold a Digital / SLR body ewith up to 300mm lens attached, an extra body, 4-5 lenses or a mini DV Camcorder. Additional accessories, like a flash unit, filters, charger, cables and personal essentials can be stored in the spacious arched lid compartment, the 2 outside pockets and the central mesh/vinyl pocket.
The special design gives quick, seperate adccess to the camera in the central compartment, while the rest of the equipment surrounding it remains secure. The R-102's ergonomic harness includes a unique cushioning and shock absorbing system, which allows for optimal ventilation and weight distribution and 5 point adjustment mechanism.
The R-102 includes a well-padded dividing set, which allows you to orgainize it to fit your requirements. If needed, an extra modi-verde-kit is available. In addition, the R-102 includes a TST tripod holder with its connecting V shape device and an upper adjustable strap (the tripod can be carried on the center part of the rucKsack or on one of the sides) Especially designed camera straps can be attached to the harness D rings and will take the camera load off your neck (they can be turned into a regular camera strap by connecting to the provided extender)
A detachable hip belt can be connected to the bottom back loops that are designated to attach the R-102 to Kata's EPH system.
TST (Thermo Shield Technology) is a state of the art solution that gives perfect protection for the digital equipment while creating an extremely light product. The outer surface of the TST is thermo-formed in a protective "rib-shape" construction (Patent Pending) It is made of Super Nylon - a Mil-STD, double cord, water & dust proof, high tenacity and abrasion-resistance fabric.
Underneath a cross-linked, closed cell PE + EVA shield is impact and shock protective while providing a comprehensive insulation against cold, heat & moisture. The internal padding provides the necessary cushioning & vibration reduction. The lining is Kata's unique Yelloop material which is fabricated especially for the anti-scratch and anti-static requirements while allowing divider attachment for internal partitioning.
