The lens is razor sharp. At F1.4 the depth of field is paper thin. I use " catch in focus" method and the firmness of the focusing barrel is a plus IMO. It's heavy and well built, and the balance was good with my K-1. I'm an old 2 1/4 film shooter so I'm used to working at a slower pace and manually focusing. If you are in a hurry I can not recommend. If you are patient and like to craft your images in camera, you will be very pleased.

Lens is phenomenal for astrophotography. Not as wide as some would like but still phenomenal. Paired with my Nixon D810 images are sharp and clean. Very well built and heavy lens for the price. You can't beat it for a 500 dollar lens.

After extensive research and design, the Irix 45mm f/1.4 Dragonfly Lens for Pentax K emerges as a superior choice for both professional and amateur photographers. This lens offers a unique alternative to the standard 35mm and 50mm focal lengths, providing a fresh perspective for those who appreciate the art of "normal" lens photography.
The lens features a fast aperture, delivering smooth bokeh and exceptional image quality even in low light conditions. Its classic focal length makes it a versatile tool for a variety of photography genres, from landscape to street photography.
One of the standout features of this lens is the Focus Lock. This innovative feature allows photographers to lock the focus ring at a specific position, proving invaluable for landscape photography, repetitive shooting, and maintaining a consistent distance from the subject.
The Irix 45mm f/1.4 lens also boasts a high-quality focus ring, modeled after the popular design found on the Irix 150mm f/2.8 1:1 Macro lens. Crafted from durable materials resistant to weather conditions, the focus ring offers an embossed texture for enhanced comfort and precision during manual focusing.
Ready to perform in any weather, this lens features laser-engraved focus and aperture markings filled with UV-reactive paint, ensuring readability even in low-light conditions. The lens is also equipped with weather sealing at four key points, safeguarding the lens interior and camera sensor from dust, moisture, and harsh weather conditions.
The Dragonfly finish of the Irix 45mm f/1.4 lens is a testament to its robust build quality. It combines sturdy metal components with lightweight composite materials for a durable yet comfortable handling experience. The lens maintains its compact size thanks to an internal focusing mechanism, allowing photographers to focus on capturing the perfect shot, regardless of the environment or weather conditions.
