I knew I was pushing it regarding weight. Be aware that it can take a full body DSLR as the 1DX with a fairly heavy lens as the 70-200mm but you need to be careful. It tips very easy. The panning is kinda jerky until you get used to it. Can this be used in a professional environment? Yes and no. If you want a stellar performance, a few more hundred dollars should do the trick.

I use this head on a slider and it far surpasses my expectations. It is able to cope with a heavy camera with no issues.

This head is used for the SONY FX7 camcorder. It's a perfect match. During our last weekend wedding project, our video person responded that she really loved this head. Pan is very smooth.

This is a great low budget fluid head for video. The only issue I've had so far is lack of control. There is basically no drag control and the head moves very easily when it is unlocked. You can kind of get drag by partially turning the lock, but it doesn't work as good as an actual drag control knob. This can make it harder than it should be to get controlled motion tracking.

This is my first fluid head. I use it mainly for shooting video with my Nikon D5100 of kiteboarders. The quality of my latest video has greatly improved. So far I am very pleased with the performance of the head. I did a lot of research and this head stands up to all my expectations. I use it on my Slik Pro 700 legs and its a very good union.

We use the head for video work. I particularly like the smooth motion that we get from this product.

I have started to learn dslr video and Manfrotto 701HDV is all I could ask for a real smooth panning and tilting , I had tried to some video without this before and comparing this with it earlier just shows how right technology could enhance your work. I like everything about it, the only downside I am seeing personally is the quick clamp attached to camera sometimes gets a little loose

This mount works fine for video. I was disappointed in the plastic release pin. I have another Manfrotto mount with a metal pin and it works much better. The plastic is "sticky" and adds a layer of effort when mounting and removing my camera. I would probably recommend paying a little more for a better built video head.

I actually wanted the 501, but they didnt have it, so I went with this...I must say, I have no complaints, other than I still wonder about the 501 lol...it gives some extremely smooth panning action which is great for my video work and I use it on a KONOVA slider, so thats smooth on smooth...u can see a sample of my video work here http://youtu.be/Lof1lT_Q1BM

Mostly used in back country photography and spotting scope work. With the quick release I can switch from using my spotting scope, to locate animals, and then change to my cameras for the photo or video.

I have several of these, for use on different devices. I have one on my Cannon dslr, one on my Cannon video camera, one on my Swarovski EL binoculars, and one on my Pentax spotting scope. Makes switching devices on my tripod easy and quick.

Sometimes I do photography and video at the same job so I need it a small fluid head since the video I am doing is with the same SLR 5D M II. this head attaches to my non manfrotto tripod legs really well so allow me to do video specially if am at event. for the size and price this is the best fluid head ever!

For the price, this is a fantastic starter fluid head. If you compare it to heads that cost more than $1k, you may find this one a little lacking, but if you're looking for a great introduction to fluid heads at low cost, this is the one. I use with a 5D Mark II, and have been quite happy with it. The movement is smooth, the quick-release plate easy to use, and despite its low cost, it feels very solid. No regrets whatsoever on getting it. At some point I may have the dough to drop on an ungodly expensive head, but for now, this does what I need

If I would have known that the adjustments was not controlled by the arm I would not have gotten it. SAD. But it works for all wide shots well. I have a 5d mk2 and a 70-200 and you will not want to go bigger on the lens than that with this head. It is very good but limited....The slide tenchen nob hits the body of the camera LAME.

I bought this head for my 5D Mark II for video use. I have a tripod and monopod and one ball head. I bought this one but the plate is much bigger from the other forcing me to change plate anytime I want to switch from still to video. Therefore for my need this is not the best solution. The head is; however, very well built and the movement is smooth. I would keep it if I used only for video.
