. Have had this camera for several years. Took lots of beautiful photos, but now can't get camera to turn on--batteries won't charge. Two friends have same problem!

Por eu já ter tido uma super zoom de outra marca posso afirmar que ela deixa muito a desejar. Demora demais pra focar, no modo manual os botões de seleção são separados e dependendo da situação perde-se muito tempo. No modo de vídeo ela não mantem o foco.

I bought my Nikon p600 a year ago, and I've had nothing but troubles with it. It takes AMAZING pictures, don't get me wrong, but there's always some kind of malfunction that limits what I can do with it. A few months ago, the settings started switching automatically without me having to touch it. This can go on for 5-10 minutes nonstop. Example: I'm whale watching and miss the whole thing because my camera switches from scene to effects to manual....WHAT???? I took it into a best buy, they took a look at it, reset it....and charged me. For resetting it. All seemed well for a week, and then it came back!!!!! Nobody knows how to fix it and I'm tired.

Before the camera was a year old, it began randomly switching between settings and scene modes. It got to the point that I could not take photos or videos because the camera wouldn't stop switching between setting/scene modes. The problem is well known, except to Nikon customer service, who told me there are no advisories or known problems listed for the Coolpix P600. I would direct them and any potential buyer to You Tube to search for the 2:43 video "JUNK CAMERA Problems With Coolpix P600 Review" (link below). You can watch the exact technical problem that many purchasers of this camera have experienced. I have the camera in for an estimate to repair to see what Nikon will/can do to fix this problem.

My purchase was to upgrade from a 14.1, 26X Optical Zoom camera that was four years old. I read many reviews from third parties and users with samples on Flickr. While my camera was being shipped I downloaded the manual to learn of its features. When it arrived I installed the strap and lens cap string and proceeded to charge the battery fully. The whole process was simple. My first picture was of a squirrel high up a mature pine tree beyond my backyard using the Bird-watching setting. I also took a shot using my other camera but, it was out of optical zoom range. When the little white box turns red it is out of focus. When it turns green it is in focus so then you gently press the shutter button all the way and the shot is processed quickly. I am using a SanDisk Ultra Plus, Grade (10) Speed up to 48 MB/s** 320X so my video and process time is much faster than others were experiencing. When I attached the camera to my computer the transfer rate was very fast. The squirrel shot was a Wow! You could clearly see the whiskers against a white and dark background. It was beautiful detail right out of the camera. My hobby is wildlife photography and that means the Nikon Coolpix P600 with 60X optical zoom is most important. I was now able to photograph Bald Eagles at their nest using all of the 60X zoom. After just a little over one month useage the quality, detail and sharpness of images is a huge jump forward from my previous camera. I believe Nikon has advanced the technology substantially with these types of cameras using small image sensors and one lens to cover a huge range. I am used to moving the lens slightly when you land on a spot where the camera has problems with focus. It works like magic. I had a situation where I could see two Bald Eagles on a nesting platform for Osprey that required full optical zoom and one was calling to the other. It was not possible for me to hold the camera still for a video with that much zoom. I put my portable tripod on the hood of my vehicle using the Full HD 1080 30p and shot a beautiful video with her calling to him next to her on the platform. Immediately following those calls she flew to the nest nearby and settled to the center of the nest where she has been on eggs and will be with help from him for 35 days. The camera is amazing.

I bought the P600 in red and am SO HAPPY! I am 22 and bought for vacation and travels, even if it's just around town. I wanted a better quality camera than my iPhone (picture and description comparison below) REASONS TO BUY 1) It's lightweight and easy to carry around. I made sure not to buy a heavy camera that would hurt my neck or hurt my shoulder when it's in a shoulder bag. It has a non-slip grip for your fingers and for when you rest your thumb on the back of the camera. 2) There is a flip screen. That was one of the biggest factors I had when buying a camera. Great for me if I want to be in a picture with someone but I'm outside and don't have a tripod. 3) There are also different settings. I like using "night landscape" and "night portrait" for when it gets dark outside. 4) The red color looks sharp. The black appeared dull and matte to me. That's why I bought the red, for the shiny pizzazz. Red is only available online but this product has free overnight shipping. 5) The quality is amazing! Stunning photographs. 6) There is WiFi, but I'm ok with plugging the camera into the computer. For Mac users, the photos and videos default download to iPhoto, you can select what you want to download, and then you can choose to keep or delete photos from the camera. TIP - MEGAPIXELS: I kept wondering if I should buy a camera with more megapixels. My friend has a 24 megapixel camera; this one has 16.1 megapixels. I looked online, as long as you have 14 megapixels, you are good! My friend spent over $ and compared mine and didn't understand why she paid so much. Online it says companies increase the megapixels as a ploy to make you pay more money and believe it's much better. Unless you do a lot of cropping or want to make outrageously large wall-sized printouts of your photos, 16.1 megapixels is enough :) TIP - VS. IPHONE: The iPhone has 8 mp. Sure, the iPhone takes decent pictures, but there is a definite image quality difference when comparing the P600 to the iPhone. With the P600, I look so much clearer! My skin is smooth, not grainy like the iPhone pictures. The iPhone also can't zoom when you take a picture and doesn't have all these settings, and also does not have a self-timer. TIP - WHEN TO BUY: I bought in December (Christmas time). It was on sale for $ after tax, and then I bought the additional 2 year warranty for $. I bought on this website. OVERALL: Great camera! I'm extremely pleased and everyone is impressed with the pictures. Bought it for Christmas and everyone and everything looks great in our Christmas photos!

What caught my eye when I saw this was the maneuverable screen, which I have on my old Pentax. I really use that a lot to be able to see what I am shooting from low angles or holding the camera high over my head. No guessing. I had looked for that for some time and saw this camera on display. The second feature I was looking for was Wi-Fi so if I am out and about and want to send a pic to someone thru my Smartphone. It took me awhile to figure this out, but finally got the phone to read the camera (which acts as a modem). The SSID is built in so you don't have to put anything in. The instruction manual is useless for this, but I looked on line to get a little more help and a techie friend looked at it for me and we quickly figured it out.(You do have to download a free app so these will connect. I took some amazing night shots on the streets of our town with Christmas decorations and the flash was not needed. I'm very happy with the resolution of these photos. The zoom is the right dimensions for most pix I want. This does look like an SLR camera, but it is not. It does have the better zoom than other point and shoot and is easy to figure out the controls. I've just had this a month and I'm quite pleased with it!

I bought my Nikon P600 a few weeks ago, and just before the "Red Moon' here in Southern California. Before the event I took some fantastic photos of the full moon with the 'auto' setting. Several hours later at the peek of the red moon (2:30AM), I tried to repeat the shot. My P600 would not focus on the now darkened moon. I'll admit I was not familiar with the operation of my new camera and probably why I'm not quite satisfied. Since then I have read the manual and located a section on 'manual focusing'. Again, here is a manual that says 'what' can be done, but does not tell 'how' to do it. This is my main complaint.

WiFi connection with smart devises is a lie, you need to engage with an App from Google Play Store that does not exist, or actually it does but when you try to download it's pure BS, I tried on an IPad, Nokia, Motorola and my Asus lap top, all trials gave me a "cannot connect" result, and the ghost App is impossible to set in your smart divice. Also the accessorie to recharge batteries does not exist either, these people are incredible.

I was looking for a camera to take with me on trips and for special occasions but I wanted something that was not complicated to operate. Yet had to take a quality picture like my old SLR with multiple lens. So after several months of research I choose the P600. This camera is great. I've only had it about a month and still experimenting with it but it's all that I wanted.

This camera has the best image quality that I have seen of any 1000mm plus superzoom at full zoom. In good light, the picture quality is quite impressive. There are two weaknesses that I have noticed. 1. It takes 30 seconds to clear a burst of 7 shots from its buffer. So, if I use this to get shots of a pitcher in baseball throwing a baseball past a batter, I will likely not get consecutive pitches. The other weakness is the difficulty in focusing in dim light or in medium light in low contrast settings. If you want fast focusing, you may go for some of the competitors' products. If you can be patient and persistent, this camera can deliver the goods. One more thing - I have bought this camera twice. The first one I returned in March after a day. It had dead pixels in the EVF, haloes in indoor flash shots, and visible noise at low ISO settings. This second one, despite being refurbished, has none of those problems.

I am basing my rating on other cameras of this class, I would not expect to get the same image quality from this as I would a full frame, ($) camera. Having said that, this camera pleasantly surprised me with the sharpness and color saturation I got throughout the 60x zoom range. Very impressive. The camera is packed with features and I love taking it out to the zoo to get close up shots of the animals. It is also very good for close up macro images. The camera is packed with features and I highly recommend you give this camera a try if you are looking for the convenience of an all in one super zoom.

I've been camera shopping for quite some time, and waited for what I considered to be the best camera with the features I wanted--extended zoom, fully articulated monitor with simple monitor-to-viewfinder switching, one camera to replace a multi-lens SLR collection with flash, motor drive, etc. The HD video capabilites really sealed the deal, as well. I now have one camera that I can take to airshows and camping areas; one that I can keep with me everywhere I go. I've had it for about a week and I couldn't be happier even though I've not given it a thorough workout just yet. To make the best use of the camera I bought the book you can find online about the P600 and I am going through it now so that there is nothing about the camera that I don't understand even if I don't use 80% of the features available. The one recommendation that I have is that you buy a spare battery right up front. On a trip this past weekend my battery gave out on the second day of shooting and I did miss a few opportunities, but only because I did not recharge it the first night and learned that I should go ahead and get the spare battery (which has already been ordered). When my wife saw the camera she decided that it should be hers and I've had to keep a close eye on it since! It's my first Nikon, and I can find no downsides to it. None. It will probably be my last camera, so I wanted to get the one that fits me best and I did.

As a street photographer who doesn't particularly enjoy having to change lenses, I find this camera an incredible boon to picture taking. The zoom range is a mind-blower as you can see in my hand-held, uncropped, and unedited images below. Because it's light, it's a pleasure to use, especially when I'm on vacation. The images are tack-sharp and blow up beautifully for my exhibit prints. I would definitely recommend this camera.

Upgrading to Nikon firmware ver. 1.1 gives more responsive in focusing proses. But not significant to anticipate over exposure. Picture quality for color tone, saturation, contrast, image quality what I get from factory default setting (1.1) still not correct. It still need to be corrected manually in P. Operating P 600 still need some basic photographic knowledge. Because the automatic pictures can not satisfy your high recommended quality. Just put little bit correction, then you can play with your P600.

You can get great photos with this little 60x zoom camera. I use it for birding. It even has a birding setting in the scene mode which let you take continuous photos. You will need a monopod or tripod though for full zoom to be able to get sharp photos. A perfect little light weight camera! This photo was taken yesterday with my brand new P600 on a monopod.

This camera boasts 60 X zoom, I have a Coolpix S9700 with 30 X zoom, when taking the same picture zoomed in all the way, there is almost no difference. The P600 takes a very long time to focus, and even when it shows focused the picture can be cloudy. The rotating screen & viewfinder work good. When using Zoom, all the way very hard to get a clear picture.

Great Expectations for Nikon P600 dashed by poor performing camera compared to Nikon P7000 & Canon SX30IS. We had great expectations for Nikon's P600 that we got 1 month ago, as we have a Nikon P7000 which takes very fast pictures that are of high quality. we also have a Canon SX30IS which has a 30x optical zoom which autofocuses when you zoom in or out by itself and takes great pictures. We broke the glass on the LCD screen of our P7000 and decided to get a new P series Nikon for the fast picture taking ability of the P series and the great 60x optical zoom was a good incentive to get the new Nikon P600. We were looking forward to Nikon's new high zoom P series which we expected would be very fast with a great zoom and clear pictures. What we got was a pretty camera that doesn't take pretty pictures. when we take a picture on Auto the pictures are not clear and sharp. each one has to be played with taking a prefocus halfway shot to sometimes get the camera to focus. for many objects this process is too slow to even get the picture. when you zoom and stop the camera is out of focus. you have to fiddle with halfway depressing the shutter to get the focusing to move and less than half the time it focuses and you get a clear image on the LCD. But even this can result in a blurry picture. when comparing to Nikon P7000 or Canon SX30IS, the Nikon P600 is a distant third. It would be lower, but we only have two other cameras. GREATLY DISAPPOINTED IN the NEW NIKON P600. We have gotten a few good pictures, but for each good picture we ahve many many more blurry out of focus pictures.

If you uses full zoom then picture you get is not the same what you shoot ,you get aberrant picture from original picture which you want to get . To control settings camera with those buttons almost not possible because many times it even doesn't respond . You can't find multi picture mode also visor screen low quality .
