The receiver is actually okay. It has good sound coming from it and the build is sturdy. I just don't like that i need to press the pure direct button everytime i start the receiver. I want my movies and music to be on pure direct mode all the time but the receiver don't have that function where it will just start automatically on pure direct like other receivers. Hopefully, yamaha will consider putting back the physical buttons on their future models and to make sure that the receiver will remember the last sound mode like pure direct. Or hopefully there will be an update in the future that keeps the receiver on pure direct mode so i don't need to keep on looking for the remote everytime i turn on the avr.

This is my 2nd Yamaha Aventage receiver and I only upgraded because this one has Bluetooth and a phono input where the old one did not. Same easy setup with the YPAO mic. Same great, if not better, sound. The Aventage receivers are definitely pricey, but worth every penny if you care about quality sound.

Great sound. Run a 7.1 configuration in an open loft. I have an amp driving Front RP 8000fs via XLR pre out, RP 600Mii as surrounds, R 120sw sub, 4 WX030 Yamaha wireless speakers connected thru music cast. Also yamaha rx a750 driving two RP 600miis in another area through music cast, zone 2 connected to an amp for 6 in wall speakers plus a sub. Can't believe the sound when all speakers are playing thru the house. Constantly playing with different sound settings. It's been a lot of fun. This is my 5th Yamaha receiver in last 20 years. All still working-never had a problem! I listen to all types of music, movies/streaming great.

I have had the unit in service since January. Unit is well built and has expected features of a top tier AV receiver. I have used Yamaha for many years and this unit maintains and builds upon the design aspirations of the previous flagship series from Yamaha. I placed the A6A in service to replace a RX-Z7 which still works perfectly so that I could move from a 5.1 setup to a 5.1.4 setup I especially like the ability to set up the unit over wifi and manage the myriad settings. The setup webpage offers a similar experience to the old windows based receivermanager.exe software. The ypao setup was as expected and seemed to provide an effective room equalization. The ability to further adjust the specific speakers via the parametric eq is excellent. My setup is a 5.1.4 variety in a difficult family room and the A6A does an excellent job of channel steering. I also found excellent channel separation in 2 channel SACD listening. Main front speakers are B&W Matrix 802s2 and I notice no ear fatigue in 2 channel. Overall I would recommend this unit. #sweepstakes

Whilst the receiver is great for sound and video reproduction, it is disappointing that it is slower to produce sound and on startup, a banner is displayed for 10 seconds or so that says Please Wait. This was not the case with my previous RX-A3080. Therefore, on balance, it is a disappointing upgrade.

I've been a fan of yamaha receivers for years. This is my 4th receiver and I keep coming back to upgrade to the next level. This A6A offers 9 channels of amplification and two additional connections if using an amplifier. I opted to stay with a 5.2.4 Configuration and I'm totally satisfied with my setup. The A6A offers the ability to stream various music sites which provides me with a plethora of music entertainment. Coupled with my smart TV, I'm in entertainment heaven with the various video and music streaming services. For the most part the sound is well balanced and delivers when I hit that volume knob. I even connected my Ole school cassette deck and it blends well with my setup. I'm totally satisfied with my purchase.

Amazing product with great power to fill my home theater with great sound (Powering Klipsch surround speakers). If you don't have a need for the A8A (11.2) this is a great unit with tons of flexibility / speaker configurations. You MUST use the IP address configuration with an iPad or you'll drive yourself nuts with the unit interface. My only knock on the product is the unit-based interface - it's too clunky on the unit and with the remote. It's very complex - thank God for google and YouTube videos. If you're not afraid to stretch yourself, the configurations and adjustments are practically limitless. Be advised on the dimensions - it's not easy to fit in all cabinets (The unit is in excess of 40lbs - it's a beast). That said, the dimensions advertised are the absolute outside dimensions front and rear, and take into account the speaker plugs and the main volume dial on the front, so the dimensions are overstated by close to two inches. I cut out the back of my cabinet (IKEA purchased) and it fits perfectly.

I purchased this receiver as a replacement for my 7.1 Yamaha. This is my 4th Yamaha receiver and they've all been pretty awesome but this upgrade was the one that expanded my system to where I wanted it to be (5.1.4). Initially I had an issue with the hdmi handshake but Yamaha took care of replacing the unit rather quickly. Now that everything back in order, I've given it the full shakedown; from music, movies, Bluray disk and the high quality net radio lossless stations. This system's sound is so crisp and clear. The YPAO configuration works great especially with the height measurements.

I have been a fan of Yamaha Stereo Amplifiers and Receivers, since I bout my first Yamaha Amplifier in the early 80's, an A-700 Natural Sound amplifier that I still have and use. Since then, I also have an RX-V992 that is used regularly and an RX-V1700, which was used for multi-room play. Regrettably, the two secondary amps stopped working and I really needed that feature for my main room and outdoor zones. I used that as an excuse to upgrade. Regrettably, due to the chip shortage, the Yamaha amp that I wanted to purchase as a replacement was not available for a very long time. There were other options, but I really wanted Yamaha. When the RX-A6A became available, I jumped at the chance to get it, and I am very happy that I did. They amp is fantastic, and with the MusiCast app, I can play and control music that's on my phone and SiriusXM in any zone. I use it in 7.1 surround sound and it is so realistic sounding and loud without any distortion. Thanks to YPAO the sound in my main listening/home theater room is great. This purchase was a major upgrade from my previous receiver that it replaced, and I am so glad that I got it. It was well worth the wait.

Quick recommendations this looks fabulous delivers really clean sound with plenty of power. Takes a minute to learn remote but replaced an older flagship model that lasted 10 years and still wow. HDMI was missing with the proper hand shake for 4 k now seems to be resolved. 8k upscaling works very well I'd say give it a try. Not cheap but well made!

Upgraded my TV to hdmi 2.1 so I need to upgrade my receiver. Going from Denon to Yamaha was a seemless transition. Sounds great and looks great.

Coming from a 1020 not overly thrilled. Limited on 2nd zone setup with theater configuration. Cant do rear presence and another zone, only front presence. App interface is horrible, old one was way easier and better. Overall sound is good. Had the unit turn itself off twice after about a hour, still trying to figure out why.

Definitely more capabilities than the yamaha a2a. Very impressed with the increased ypao utilization and ability to see the adjustments that were made and be able to copy and edit them manually which was critical in conjuction with REW measurements to confirm what was happening with the sound. Not much of an improvement over the previous models in sound quality (already superb) and very slightly more output which may have also been from better ypao utilization. Certainly worth its weight in quality after a couple months of ownership

I have replaced my Onkyo receiver which was about 5 years old. There are many features of this receiver, enough that will get your head spinning. Manual is a PDF download, would have preferred an actual manual. I have Amazon Fire cube connected and run most of the system with that. There are some bugs besides the usual Alexa bugs. Sometimes it goes to the wrong device. With the Apple TV I have had no issues and not sure if it is an apple update or another update the TV now sometimes has issues playing video from the Apple TV. It goes to a green scrambled screen and sometime bounces between that and normal picture back and forth. Stopping the movie and restarting seems to fix the issue most of the time. The cables are all new and worked fine up until a week or two ago. All devices are plugged into the receiver then go into the TV except XBOX X. I have a playstation 5 going through the receiver. Sometimes when playing a movie from what ever device the volume indicator pops up as if I hit the remote but I did not. It usually does it after a minute or two of playing something on the screen. I would have preferred dedicated buttons for the devices rather than toggle left or right on the remote to go through the inputs. That may be what is causing issues with Alexa picking up the devices. I have had to unplug the receiver a time or two in two months to fix the receiver not responding to commands from the Yamaha remote, volume would not work one time and another time would not respond to the remote. I have Apple TV, Sony PS5, Xbox X, Blu Ray player, Amazon Fire TV Cube and a few more devices connected. The calibration in the room is really good. I have two subs and have 5 surround speakers and 4 Atmos speakers in the room. A few of the speakers were listed as being further away than they were. The surround and Atmos movies sound phenomenal. The receiver gets really loud. However although listed at 150 watts only is true of listening in 2 channels.

We use the receiver for listening to Music in the living area and when needed on our out door porch Zone 2 speakers. We also enjoy theater quality sound for movies and excellent voice quality for regular TV viewing.

Having a Yamaha RX-A3000 for many years, and a 4K TV that the old receiver couldn't pass through 4K to, it was time to update/upgrade and the RX-A6A fits the bill. Adorama's terrific sale price convinced me to pull the trigger and I'm very pleased with it. I am running the receiver at it's full 7.2.4 capability and the legendary Yamaha DSP capabilities are incredible. YPAO is improved for setting up the speakers, Auro 3D is now my favorite DSP and I love the way it up mixes to 7.2.4. I've waited a few weeks before posting this review as there is lots to explore and discover with this receiver and I will be refining the sonic capabilities for awhile. ATMOS AI is great for movies

This amp has the power to drive even the least efficient speakers and did quite well with my Klipsch RF7III system. This model made sense to me as I do not have an 11.2 speaker configuration. It has the same power as the A8A and is $800 less. It adapts quickly and can recognize components on the HDMI line. The remote controls my PS3 perfectly and adapts to any other unit on the HDMI bus. Incredibly clear sound even at high volume and bass levels. The voices sound clear even with loud backgrou...
