I purhcased this last minute for a trip. I have outgrown my slim cybershot but not quite ready for the big leagues. Took it to my stepdaughters choir recital, was able to take video of her like I was sitting right in front of her!! photos have been amazing adn very easy to take. If you want high quality photos and don't know what you are doing...thsiis your camer! I chose this particular model mainly for the Zeiss lens, figured 16.2mp is really as good as 18mp.

I learned to do photos and videos over the last 8 years, seriously doing shooting and editing for the last 3 years. I own and use 4 Sony camera/camcorders. (DSC-HX100, HDR-HC9, HDR-TG1 and MHS-CM5) This is the BEST from Sony. Right out of the box, or after learning to use the many features, the HX100 gives consistently superb photos and videos. I bought this one for the 30X optical zoom, the 60p field/frame rate and the excellent low-light image quality. I'm not disappointed with any of these features. I was blown away by the panoramic sweep-stitch together photo feature. As with all new cameras there are some adjustments in shooting and editing. Playing and editing AVCHD at 1920 X 1080 (28 Mbps) and 60p requires some changes for my computer, editing software and monitors. I shoot a lot of tripod, wildlife, outdoors at sunrise and sunset. This camera gives excellent results in all lighting conditions and at fast or slow pan rates. No more 'combing,' 'tearing,' or 'double sets of wings' on birds in flight. The only two additional things I would want from this camera? A remote input to trigger the shutter/video record operations. And, a user manual (it comes with one) that has an INDEX. At 300 pages the user manual is only searchable when viewed on a computer. You can print the manual out, but have to create your own index (page number for looking up a specific feature or operation). The attached photo (first from this camera) was taken right out of the box, no manual settings, just a hand-held, point-and-shoot (after sunset!). Great price from Adorama.

I love the zoom lens; very effective for wildlife photos. Took great pics of hummingbirds this summer and use shutter priority to stop the action - worked great. I own a Sony a580 and wanted a good compact superzoom as a grab-and-go camera. It is excellent for times I don't want to lug around the DSLR. I love Sony cameras. I have owned a a300, and HX1. Loved them both but wanted more MPs for enlarging photos and cropping.

I wanted a camera that was easy to use but took great pictures, I use it to take wildlife pictures around our house, the shutter is very fast and the zoom and lens focus are great. I wish it was a little smaller but I will get used to it-I was using a smaller camera before.

I bought this camera mostly for work (event lighting). The picture quality is really good with very low level light. It also did fairly well with the extreme color saturation from my lights, the recorded images were similar to what the eye would see. I have not yet tested this camera with LED sources. I have not learned how to change all of the settings to see what works the best, but the auto settings work well as is.

Great camera. Great pic. Happy with my new views of Biscayne Bay and ships seiling Miami.

This is a change made to DSC-H9 on which have few experiences on high speed shoots and need a change. So I look for a faster shooter and found on the same budget range than my previous buy this one. Considered to be great in speed compared to other digitals without being an SLR you will feel like. I don't have any longer to control the flash so you will have only automatic and no flash, which I consider a reverse, but their intelligent mode looks like works at least in my first shoots. Thank you.

Most of my photos are of outdoor content. I have taken some panoramic photos but have not mastered it yet. Most all the photos come out crisp and with excelent resolution.

The camera is great, feels good, looks good and performs very good. Much better pictures than compact point and clicks but much more user friendly than DSLR's. We love the rechargeable battery and large, pivoting LCD screen.

Didn't want to carry around extra lenses, etc. This offered enough features (great zoom and close macro) that it suits my needs. Needed something better than "point&shoot" but not a DSLR. I use this for nature scenes, macro, auto-racing, airshows and regular candids. It's a great compromise between DSLR and convenience of "point&shoot."

I am testing the digital waters. I am a film shooter for 32 yrs.and took this camera on a nine day trip to Canada.Sony did a great job with this camera.I have several Minolta cameras and will no doubt will move into a full fram Sony at some point.

This camera rocks. Period. Fantastic zoom, great image stabilization. There are so many useful intelligent auto features, plus all kinds of manual control for the knowledgable shutter bug. It's super easy to use and take great photos, and the 1080/60P video is better than my dedicated HD Camcorder. If you are looking for a step up from the typical point and shoot, but dont want a full fledged SLR, you will not be disappointed with this camera.
