About Gitzo G1257 Mountaineer Reporter 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs (Rapid Column)
• The next generation Carbon Fibre tripod, the Carbon 6X incorporates an improved tubing, that is stronger, lighter and as resistant as its 12 layer predecessor. Carbon '6X' is manufactured using a complex 3-D process, which weaves 6 layers of carbon fibre into smooth, solidly constructed tubes. The ALR Anti-Rotation Leg system makes it quick and easy to open and close the tripod.
Simply turn all of the locking rings at once and the whole leg can be pulled out in seconds. These, and many other innovative features, characterise Gitzo's carbon tripods and are yet another example of why so many consider them to be the best tripods in the world.
The best choice for 35mm and medium format cameras up to light 6x6, the Gitzo 1257 Reporter, Series 2, offers robust stability for location or studio, and is ideal for wedding/portrait photography. The Gitzo G1257 carbon fibre 3-section tripod has a maximum height of 161cm (63.4").
The tripod weighs 1.42 kg (3.1 lbs) and is 66cm (26 in) long. All leg sections are 6x carbon fibre and incorporate the ALR Anti-Rotation leg system, plus a rapid center column extension for added height. The Gitzo G1257 carries up to a 8kg (17.6 lbs) load.

- Anti-Rotation Leg (ALR) System:
• The Anti-Rotation Leg (ALR) system makes it quick and easy to open and close the tripod. Simply turn all of the locking rings at once and the whole leg can be pulled out in seconds. - "H.I.S." (Hybrid Interconnecting System):
• Mountaineer tripods are constructed using a "screw thread and adhesive" dual jointing technology pioneered by Gitzo. Called "H.I.S." (Hybrid Interconnecting System), thus construction technique provides greater strength and stability. - 1mm Gitzo 6X Carbon Fiber Tube:
• Gitzo was able to develop a six-crossed multilayer carbon fiber 30 percent lighter than the previous 1.5mm generation that features the same exceptional performance of stability and vibration absorption and unbeatable quality. - Performance Design:
• Performance design allows the legs to be set individually at 24°, 55° and 90° to cover every angle you want to shoot. - Stabilizing Counterweight Hook:
• Redesigned built-in, spring-loaded retractable hook on the bottom of the center column provides a place to hang a stabilizing counterweight such as camera, sand or water bags. - Removable Leg Tips:
• Removable rubber leg tips are interchangeable with Gitzo universal accessories such as the big foot, long spike, etc. - Rapid Column:
