These Headphones Have a Lot of Problems!!!!

As u can tell from the title of this review, these headphones have a lot of problems!!!! First of all, there's no rubber band on either this pair of headphones or the new MDR-NC8 that replace this pair of now discontinued MDR-NC7 headphones. There's no padding at the top of the headband like on the MDR-NC200D headphones!!!! Then secondly, there's no volume control/ in-line remote on any of those three headphones, except for the DR-NC201IP!!!! Third, these headphones are really fragile & break way too easily!!!! Fourth, they're not that stylish except for the new MDR-NC8 headphones that do look stylish, & there aren't many color options available besides black & with on both models!!!! Despite the fact that/ even though both of these headphones have problems that Sony will hopefully improve on, for the great price & good sound, I would recommend u to definitely NOT buy these headphones & just go straight for Beats Solo HD Metallic Blue Headphones because of their supreme sound quality & their stylishness. I just recommend the Metallic Blue because that's my favorite color besides orange & green, but they also look really in Metallic Blue. I mean, if u wanna get a different color, that's up to u, but I'd recommend u sticking to Metallic Blue.

Horrible

The overall design of the headphones were awful. The sound quality was also horrible and had no bass what so ever. I returned them the day i bought them.

Extremely fragile

The construction is really fragile, so the plastic piece has cracked on both ears. I'm trying to keep them marginable usable with packing table, which of course looks ridiculous and thwarts most of the swiveling. I wouldn't consider this product unless you plan to carry it around with kid gloves. (It's my 1st pair of NC headphones so i'll defer to the audiophiles on that topic.)

I use these earphones every day at work - i don't regularly transport them or fold them etc., but the hinge broke today, after about 7 mo of use.

lame

These break easy just like every other Sony consumer headphone. You would think paying 30 dollars more than the basic models would get you some quality build. Unfortunately not. Also, the noise cancelling seems to introduce the in/famous Sony "bass boost". I opened them after they broke and you can see the little mics and the circuit for the noise cancelling but I swear there is some kind of bass boost going on to fool you into thinking it sounds better.

best present ever

it is an amazing headset. i got mine for christmas and i completely love it. i never write reviews for things but this thing was so handy and i loved it so much i just had to join the site and write one. but i have to say it should cost more. the only thing i don't like is that you have to put a battery in it, not a big one, and "turn it on" to get near studio/bose sound quality. so overall like i said before, just downright amazing.

They're Not Horrible

Trying to put these on your head is pretty annoying. There are about two million different ways these headphones fold and spin so that they store more easily, but putting them on your head is like untying a complicated knot. The sound quality is pretty decent and the noise cancelling feature noticeably cuts out background noise. I found that the headphones aren't particularly comfortable after an extended listening time and the material might cause your ears to feel sweaty.

Clever but weak

For the price these phones work well. At a coffee shop or on a plane they will redice annoying constant background adequately. They fold ingeniously taking up little space and have a good sound. These are not rugged. The plastic design throughout causes them to start falling apart bit by bit until ultimately they break beyond home repair with superglue or duct tape. I got them free with credit card points so I have no big complaints. I made them last about two years.

Poor Quality, very disapointed in Sony

I have been a very loyal Sony customer and have only purchased Sony headphones. In the winter I purchased a pair of Sony in-ear headphones and loved them. They had good bass, and clear sound. Easily the best pair I have ever owned. Now with the MDR-NC7 Noise canceling headphones, the sound quality is one of a $20 pair (it sucks miserably), the bass is terrible, the noise canceling feature is pointless (my in ear headphones blow it away in noise reduction) I still can't believe I payed $45 for these terrible headphones, Sony, I am very disappointed. I was going to buy a different brand but I thought Sony would have the best for the best price. I was very wrong with this product and hope you can make a better product in the future. I would very well like a refund, but I assume that is not possible.

eh

I am a professional videographer. I bought these headphones for shoots. I was very disappointed. First of all the battery dies very quickly and doesn't help that much. Second I can hear people talking around me when I am trying to listen to the audio coming from my mic across the room. These headphones would be ok for postproduction work. However if you are a professional I would keep looking.

Not Reccomended

If someone were to ask me if they should buy these headphones, I would say "Don't". Although the concept of taking surrounding environment noise and inverting it is a logical concept, it's not a realistic concept. In order to "cancel noise", you should use an over-the-ear design instead of an on-the-ear design. If you want to know more cons about the headphones, look in the cons I've listed, otherwise it's not worth spending my time to describe all of the defects of the headphones. I'm sorry Sony, but this is one of your electronics I have to give a "thumbs down" and "I WANT MY MONEY BACK!" -Freebro

Worst Headphones Ever

Sony really cut corners on these. The part that goes over the head hurts the skull and pulls out your hair. The ear pieces are flat and don’t cup the ear. Whose bright idea was that? Headphones are supposed to cup the ear hence the word headphones. Did anyone at Sony try these on before putting them on the market? WTF

Good looks. Poor performance

Well what can i say. Looked like it could do some serious noise cancelling . But it could not even cancel the noise of my microwave when i stood next to it. Looks like it just muffled the noise a bit. Bass response is poor. My Philips worth 15$ does a better job. Sony guys, could you put more effort into the sound tech rather than just the looks. Beauty is just skin deep you know and we audiophiles just hate these headphones.

They don't do much to cancel noise, but the sound quality is decent and they are farily comfortable. Overall, I would not buy them again, I wanted it to be very quiet when I had them on and it says they cancel 87% of noise, but it seems more like 40%.

Could've been better

For the money the noise cancelling actually works but you do have to have the volume up pretty high. Without the noise cancelling the sound quality is not that good but why would you buy noise cancelling headphones if you're not going to use that feature. The problem I have with these is that after using them for 3 months, the speakers snap off the headset. Very cheaply designed. A metal dowel pin holds them on to where the speakers swivel. Metal will always snap plastic in a part that moves alot. These also were not abused but just from putting them on & taking them off. I will not buy these again.

Decent headphone, but not good

These are decent headphones, I haven't had any real problems though. The "noise cancelling" barely reduces noise, but increases sound quality. The base isn't the best either, but if you have an mp3 player with a built in EQ then you can mess with it to get good base. Overall the quality is good for 50$, but I recommend you save the 50$ for higher quality headphones like the MDR-NC60 or the 100$ Able Planet headphones.

come on sony

i bought these expecting awesome sound and quality noise canceling without problems i got the opposite this is the worst Sony product I've ever purchased the noise canceling sucks you can barely call them these noise canceling headphones so when you put this Lil battery in and turn on the power it sounds fine but without it is sucks it should cancel the noise also the mics that attempt to cancel sound are extremely sensitive and the fold able design is faulty because one of the pieces snapped off and i had to return them I'm glad that i did also these headphones barely even fit on your head they slip off very easily come on Sony wheres the quality i thought you had?

Dont even think about it

I paid $60 dollars for these headphone today, and it took me about 15mins to realize how poor the sound quality is. The worst thing about headphones is it gave me a nauseous headache, after that i took them off and packed it back in the box for return. These headphones are no different than a generic brand, dont be fooled..

Convinced . . .

By Julyfly

This headset must be the most comfortable equipment I've ever used. It wasn't too heavy, and folds up neatly. I was happy to see that the cord was longer than the previous headphone I used, thus was not restricting. Not all, but most noise was eliminated, making the experience of listening an enjoyable one. The bag and travel plug is appreciated. It is worth the price entirely.
