The bigger the imager, the better the image. That's why the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-R1 incorporates an APS-class image sensor more than 12 times the size of the typical sensor. You'll get high sensitivity, low noise and a phenomenal 10.3 Megapixels of resolution. This is the world's first camera to combine an APS-class sensor with Live Preview of the scene, so you can compose your shot with full framing, exposure and white balance accuracy.
The DSC-R1 incorporates a pro-quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 5X Optical zoom lens with T* (T-star) coatings. With its 24mm wide end (35mm equivalent) you can shoot wide angles that typical digital cameras just can't match, while maintaining plenty of telephoto reach. The Free-Angle 2.0" LCD monitor 90 lets you shoot from waist height, over your head or even floor level.
Adjust your exposure with 16-step aperture and 49-step shutter speed.. Get more punch from your pictures with Sony's Advanced Gradation Control System. Achieve more expressive color with Sony's Vivid RGB mode. And take your pictures to a new level of professionalism with Sony's new Image Data Converter SR software for RAW image conversion.

- Full-Time Live Preview: Pros count on being able to see what the camera sees. Live Preview in the electronic viewfinder and LCD monitor shows 100% framing accuracy for total confidence. You can preview exposure and depth of focus so you know what you're getting before you take the shot!
- Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 5X Optical Zoom Lens: The 5X Optical Zoom lens covers an incredible range from an ultra-wide 24mm to 120mm (35mm equivalent). Exclusive Zeiss T* (T-star) coatings reduce internal reflections, suppress lens "flare" and improve image contrast.

- Versatile Manual Exposure: Adjust the aperture from F2.8-16. Set the shutter from 30 seconds to 1/2000 second, or choose Bulb exposure for up to 3 minutes! Adjust ISO from 160 to 3200. Choose Auto White Balance then fine-tune color temperature by hand.
- Dual Media Capability: If you've already invested in high-capacity flash memory cards, the DSC-R1 is the camera for you. It accepts Memory Stick PRO media, Compact Flash Type 1/IImedia,1 and optional Microdrive media.
