I bought this a few weeks back and just installed them. Easy install, great sound and they are very nice looking too!!

Love the sleek look

Very solidly made, very good sounding, easy to install. The best part of the sound is that you can hear both speakers from anywhere in the backyard. Our old outdoor speakers were too directional. Good bass on these, too.

Great sound!

I bought a pair of speakers last month and I'm still waiting. I had a horrible experience. bose accepted the address in Puerto Rico and when it got there ups was not able to deliver the speakers. I made contact with bose and ups 6 times. at this point, I'm waiting for a refund.

disappointed

I bought these new 251's to replace my 20 year old 151's that eventually succumbed to the elements in my backyard. These new 251 speakers are noticeably larger and sound much better than my old 151's, with crisper highs, rich bass and much wider sound field. I would have rated it 5 stars if the design allowed for horizontal mounting like my old 151's. I also needed to upgrade my multiroom amplifier as these new 251's do require a bit more juice to sound good. If your amplifier is underpowered, the speakers will be noticeably muddled and less crisp.

Great Bose Sound Outdoors!

These speakers are awesome. They are very loud very clear crisp the base sounds great. It actually feels like I'm at a concert. I have them in my backyard one towards my pool the other tour, my patio and you can hear the music everywhere.

Great features

Bose 251 lives up to its reputation. Good ol' wired speakers that produce that AMAZING sound that Bose is known for. I have used these for my indoor fitness studio and they are more than enough. If you are in the market for outdoor speakers these are the ones, don't hesitate!

Amazing

I bought these speakers around 1995 and they still sound great. I have had them outside since the beginning. Still look brand new when I wipe them down occasionally. Definitely would recommend.

Great speakers

A little over a year ago I had my home theatre installation guy install these in the back patio. (In Phoenix. Yes, it gets HOT.) There are two issues I have. First, I bought these because, well, Bose. The sound quality is not what I expected. They are very "midrangey". Almost no bottom end and a weak high end. The speakers are installed near the ceiling and close to a corner so I would expect this to amplify the bass. Not so much. Second, after a little over a year the one speaker is damaged and plays distorted. It sounds like the voice coil is damaged in one of the drivers and so the sound is distorted. All of their stores are now closed because of the COVID panic, so I cannot take it back to a store for service. I also apparently cannot simply buy a single speaker. Frankly I expected MUCH more from the Bose brand name.
Its not like I overdrive the speakers either. The amplifier is 120 watts per channel of pure sound, and if I played it anywhere near that loud the neighbors would call the police... (the VU meters on the amp hardly budge.) That and my wife would give me "the look"... ;-)

I expected more.

I had an old set of outdoor speakers that I thought sounded great until I installed the BOSE 251s. The old outdoor speakers used to be powered by my old receiver/amplifier, but I replaced the receiver with the BOSE Soundtouch SA-5 Amplifier, and the 251s were the next logical upgrade. The music fills the deck and backyard with beautiful claer sound. I am very happy with the 251s combined with the SA-5 Amplifier.

BOSE 251: Great Outdoor Speakers

These speaker’s have been hanging on my patio wall for 20 years and the still work. Kind of wondering why Bose hasn’t updated a product in 20 years

I’ve had these for 20 years!

Bought these in the summer 2014 and they're still going strong. Best sounding speakers I've ever had, the clarity is amazing, the sound is amazing, connect a sub to compliment then even more and you'll really enjoy them. No complaints from me. I even had one issue with the built in woofer and the bose team fixed it no problem with no hassle. Highly recommend

Perfect

We live in Louisiana where the weather is always damp. We bought our first two in 2001 and the second set in 2011, they are Wonderful and Sound Great. We enjoy our backyard with a Great Sound System! Thank you Bose

Best Speakers Ever!!!

I bought 2 outdoor speakers and the amplifier for over $1,000 and it works terribly. It worked for a month and suddenly when i select music via Spotify through the SoundTouch app it will not connect to Spotify (which works fine). Bose has no solution to this. I do not recommend buying these.

Terrible connection to spotify

I've had these for about two months. They replaced a pair of Cambridge Soundworks outdoor speakers. The sound field is wider, the bass is better, they are good...solidly good. These are a solid right in the middle high quality sound speaker. Better than most, lacking in audiophile perfect sound, but again better than most. People seem to like to hate Bose, but the reality is, they produce satisfying sound that is, well...satisfying. Their sound is more than adequate for my porch for get togethers, frustrating the neighbors, and drinking a beer on the porch watching the sun go down over the mountains.

Bose 251s are who we thought they were.

I purchased these 15 years ago and despite the Kentucky weather, they still perform perfectly. I love them and just bought a second set for my large patio. Thank you Bose!!

Awesome

Purchased 15 years ago and installed outside, one to the garage and the other to 4 story pine tree. We live outside Chicago, IL and the speakers have never moved from the initial location. They weather all elements as designed and still work with the level expected from Bose

Outstanding quality

Have had these in my backyard since they came out and they still work amazingly

Long lasting

I bought these just over a year ago and have been trying to replace them ever since. The sound is disapponiting and these really lack any type of bass. I have a Marantz mm7055 amp pushing them so power isnt an issue. I think the speakers are good, but over priced.

For the price I expected more!

Amazing sound

We have had 2 sets of these speaks by our pool for around 8 years. Quality and sound are still superb and it also still look like the day we bought them.

Purchased in 2000 for our pool area. Still act like new speakers. Would like more bass but sound is good for an outdoor speaker.

These speakers are state of the art. The low, mid, high (& everything in between) frequency response is second to none. The sound produced from a speaker of this size is amazing, great balanced sound. Matches well with the Bose SA-5 amp. Durable, slick, exceptional sound, highly recommended.

Extraordinary performance

Installed last week and in under an hour with sa5. Very noticeable improvement over my Bose Bluetooth speaker. The stereo sound blows it away and no more worrying about charge levels. It's great to relax on my deck with a cocktail and since I have the sound touch 20 in my kitchen I can refresh my drink wiyhout a break in the music.
