Image quality is excellent even hard mounted to a drone not connected to a gimbal. The only thing missing is a hdmi out.

I bought this as I didn't want a bulky dslr and I got the kit lens. I am very happy with it. I use an xperia z3 for the display and it took me a while to make sure the phone was unlocked before using nfc to pair with it. Also to make sure some work networks were forgotten. Picture quality is great and I will be purchasing some more lenses to add to the kit.

This lens is the quality of being convenient because I can switch with my existing e-mount lenses that come from my old Sony camera and so long Sony keep its' app updated. I don't see why I will face any problem with any future mobiles or even tablets. A very good produce.

If you are looking for the smallest mirrorless camera with an APS-C sensor then this is a great option. The image quality is similar to other Sony APS-C mirrorless cameras (i.e. excellent!). However, it needs to be used with a smart phone and the interaction with the camera via the smart phone is much less convenient compared to a regular camera. Another potentially serious limitation is that the app does not provide full manual control over the camera. You have aperture priority or shutter priority modes, but no manual mode.

I bought this for going on holiday didn't want to carry a large bulky camera around and this seemed to fit the bill, takes good photos and is very versatile no angle to strange. Still experimenting with it but have no qualms this is a good piece of kit

This unit is handy to slip in a pocket and by using the Lens (SEL 16F28) from My A6000 gives a very good result.

I brought this camera mid January so far I love it the pics are really nice, I'm just starting to take photography seriously and this is a perfect starter interchangeable lens camera for anybody. A lot of online reviews say it's awkward to hold attached to your phone but I think it feels a lot like any other camera when I have it attached to my Z3, it's very comfortable in the hand and being able to use the phones camera button to focus and take the pics is nice.

I already have a Sony Nex 5n camera, so i bought this new "device" because is fully compatible with all the Sony E mount mirrorless camera... The software that connect this camera to the smartphone works really well, it has a very little lag. Unfortunately every time you take a pitcure using the smartphone it takes 3/4 seconds before tha camera can shoot again another picture, but i think sony can optimize it with a software update. It is really suggested to who wants extreme portability without loosing quality and interchangeable lents. With Playmemories software you will have a Jpeg copy of your picture immediately in your phone and a RAW or Jpeg copy remain in your camera for postproduction editing!

I bought this camera as an upgrade to my QX10 which couldn't take pictures better than my oneplus. I expected it to be good, but not a replacement for my alpha. It was excellent. Forget the reviews on stuff tv or techradar, as long as you have a micro sd card shot to shot time is really quick. 3.5 shots a second, in fact. The camera took near professional pictures and low light shots look exceptional. Battery life was far more than anyone would ever need, and mounting on to the oneplus proved to be not flimsy at all. Videos also look great and with the right lens and microphone, you can really shoot some pro stuff. Even though connecting to the camera was slow and for some reason NFC doesn't work (bummer), connection speed was a whole lot better than the qx10. At 400 bucks, it's expensive, and it doesn't come with lens. But if you have lens and a micro sd card, you will definitely have a lot of fun with this camera. For people who want to take awesome pics and post it onto instagram right away, this is the camera to get. But this is in no way a professional camera, and the alpha is still my primary.

I recently purchased the QX30 and enjoyed it but wanted more power and control. The QX1 delivers. I just received this device and totally love it.

For the first time ever, you can now turn your smart phone, with its limited lens and image quality, into an interchangeble-lens compact camera with a large APS-C sensor!
The Sony ILCE-QX1 is an interchangeable-lens "Lens-Style Camera" module with a 20MP APS-C sized Exmor CMOS sensor and Bionz x processor...and a mount that can accomodate any Sony E-Mount lens. The QX1 uses Wi-Fi connectivity to transform a smart phone into a powerful compact camera. It includes such high-end features as RAW image capture, a pop-up flash, and Superior Auto Mode. Feature by feature, the QX1 is comparable with the recently discontinued Sony Alpha A5000.
Thanks to its large APS-C sensor, the Sony QX1 is capable of high-quality images with very little noise, even when shooting in low light without flash, and even at higher ISOs. When paired with a smart phone, you can control shutter speed, aperture and ISO manually-something you can't do with an on-board smart phone camera.
Sony ILCE-QX1 can operate as a stand-alone unit, but lacks any kind of monitor or viewfinder. That's where the iOS or Android-based smartphone comes in. Using NFC or Wi-Fi, users can physically attach the lens-camera unit to the smartphone and use the phone's screen to control the camera, view live images, and review the images already shot. Images can be saved by transferring images to the smart phone or tablet, or by saving it to Memory Stick Micro or Micro SD memory cards.
You can control the ILCE-QX1 using controls on the camera/lens barrel, as a stand-alone unit with no monitor, or via your smart phone using the LCD for live image viewing and touch-screen operation. You can add the lens of your choice. This is a good option for users who already own a Sony MILC and want a more portable solution that they can use in tandem with their smart phone while getting the outstanding resolution that Sony sensors are famous for.
