The new F40fd Finepix digital still camera features Face Detection, a new technology designed to significantly enhance your shot by identifying human subjects' faces in the frame (up to 10 faces) and in real time, determining the optimal focus and exposure settings for the absolute best results possible in any shooting conditions.

Fujifilm's Face Detection technology is based on a newly developed LSI chip combined with a patented application that allow the FinePix F40fd digital still camera to reach a level of performance in digital photography that was never possible before.

With a quick and easy touch of a button, you can capture life without blur. The F40fd with Picture Stabilization will automate professional photographic techniques to help reduce camera shake, freeze subject movement and improve low light background detail.

Picture Stabilization utilizes higher sensitivities, up to ISO 2000, an incredibly high signal to noise ratio, and faster shutter and operational speeds to deliver virtually blur free images where conventional digital cameras fail.

Combining the new RPII Processor, 6th Generation Super CCD-HR Sensor and Fujinon Lens Optics, the F40fd delivers faster operational speeds and reduced power consumption, which is augmented with ultra-high sensitivity and captures more light with low noise. This allows you to capture priceless memories as photographs with every nuance of light and color, even in low light situations without a flash.

This capability is even more enhanced with the RP Processor II and an aspherical Fujinon lens system, which are used widely in professional broadcast TV cameras.

The Finepix F40fd features an xD/SD compatible slot, allowing the use of either xD Picture Card or SD media to store and transfer your photos. This new capability assures compatibility with a wider variety of applications than ever before, and allows users to choose the media technology that is right for them.
