With its high-tech and sleek design, the SSM Digital Hybrid Wireless Miniature Transmitter, Frequency Block B1 (537.600-614.375MHz) from Lectrosonics is the perfect solution for theatrical productions and other events where discreet audio transmission is required. Despite its compact size, this sophisticated transmitter boasts a feature set and performance that matches all Digital Hybrid Wireless models.
The SSM transmitter offers selectable frequencies in 100 kHz or 25 kHz steps across an impressive maximum tuning range of 76.7 MHz. This provides a total of 3072 available frequencies across three standard frequency blocks, ensuring a wide range of applications. The tuning range varies in some blocks to comply with applicable frequency allocations.
Powered by a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, this durable transmitter features a secure stainless steel battery door that can't be accidentally jarred open. The servo bias input accepts both mic and line level signals, with a broad range of gain adjustment in 1 dB steps. LED indicators on the keypad allow for precise gain adjustments, ensuring maximum signal-to-noise ratio and minimal distortion.
The SSM transmitter is compatible with earlier analog Lectrosonics receivers, Lectrosonics IFB receivers, and some receivers from other manufacturers, thanks to DSP emulation modes selected in the LCD menu. The machined aluminum housing, finished with an ultra-hard, black electroless nickel finish called ebENi, adds to the transmitter's durability.
The audio input jack is a LEMO 00 Series 3-pin connector, commonly used in theatrical production. An IR (infrared) port next to the antenna enables the transfer of frequency and compatibility mode settings from IR-enabled receivers. The easy-to-navigate menu structure, accessible via the membrane switch panel and LCD, allows for quick and easy adjustments and settings.
The SSM transmitter's battery status is indicated by a bi-color LED that turns from green to red as the battery runs down, and starts blinking red when only a few minutes of runtime remain. The stainless steel battery cover, designed for durability and to maintain the thin wall thickness required for a miniature design, is hinged to the housing for easy handling during battery changes.
The patented Digital Hybrid Wireless design combines 24-bit digital audio with an analog FM radio link, delivering outstanding audio quality and the extended operating range of the finest analog wireless systems. This unique design digitally encodes the audio in the transmitter and decodes it in the receiver, yet still sends the encoded information via an analog FM wireless link. This proprietary algorithm is a technique that can only be accomplished in the digital domain, ensuring superior audio quality even though the audio inputs and outputs are analog signals.
