Very disappointing product. The device is unable to maintain a stable connection, it constantly drops the signal or freezes and if I move my phone at all when I am able to briefly connect, the screen on my phone flops wildly back and forth from right to left making the SkyPortal App. unable to use.

Once I got it running it has been great. I especially love the way you can track your scope?s path on the SkyPortal app as it slews to a new target. Initially I kept getting an error message that the telescope was not responding to the app. The wi-fi connection was good however. It turned out to be a problem not with the module but with my Ipad settings. I was told by Celestron tech support that since the release of IOS 14 and higher there is a setting that must be turned on for the module to work. So I went into SETTINGS / PRIVACY / LOCAL NETWORK / and found the SkyPortal app and turned on the setting. The unit has been working great since.

This wi-fi module allows you to control your telescope via wirelless network using a tablet or phone or pc computer and the appropriate sofware making it very easy to star jump from star to star etc without having to use the hand controller...also can be helpful in the initial alignment of the telescope if a person is having trouble learning to use the hand control...I know I love using mine every chance I get!

Works as advertised. Really nice to do some observing without the hard to see hand control. SkySafari pro does all the work from my Ipad. FYI, set skysafari to celestron wifi to connect.

This wireless dongle works exactly as advertised. I plugged it into my Celestron NexStar 5SE and within moments my laptop detected its network. I was then able to remotely calibrate my telescope with ease. Finding celestial objects after that was a snap with the software. Why didn't I buy this sooner?

This device makes it much easier to align your telescope, and lets you use SkyPortal or other apps to control your scope and select from larger databases for objects to view.

Have only used a little, but it works great. Very easy to navigate the cosmos with this module. I use it with the 8SE and when the scope slews, the module can get in the way of the focus adjustment and eyepiece. I may have to make a short dongle that hangs over the side of the scope to keep the module from interfering.

Easy to connect and run my Nexstar 4SE or my SLT mount. The module is very small and with the 90 degree connection stays out of the way during slews. I love it!

I don’t bother with the hand controller when I have this. If u get the aux splitter u can use both at same time A must have as SkyPortal App is great

Great add on to drive the NexStar with an iPad. You can align, navigate, and get audio details on what you are looking at. This greatly simplifies aligning as it only wants the 3 stars as input. It takes care or pulls the other details from the iPad.

Celestron SkyPortal WIFI works great. Allows to control my telescope using the free SkyPortal software app coupled with the Celestron Starsense alignment scope. With WIFI and app, phone automatically passes the date, time and gps location to the telescope. WIFI is easy to connect. Love it.

The module itself seems to be great. No problems ad-hoc or joining it to dual-band router (unlike many other 2.4 only devices that get confused, it seems.) However, the accompanying app shows weird behavior. Pairs beautifully, but doesn't seem to adjust the in-app position to match real life position when doing alignment. Noy sure if this is my fault, so no stars docked.

Allowed me to connect my Android cell phone to my Nexstar 8SE and control it remotely through my phone. You connect it to the SkyPortal software that came with the telescope. It has a much bigger database than is in the Celestron hand controller. Worked great. You want to get the Celestron Aux Port Splitter with it because where the SkyPortal module mounts on the telescope, when you slew the telescope to a more vertical position, the diagonal or focus knob can hit the SkyPortal module. The wire on the splitter allows you to hang the module on the side of the tripod rather and out of the way of the diagonal and focuser.

Worked very well with StarSense and my iPad in -25 degree weather in remote locations. Make sure that you delay your iPad screen saver as long as possible or you will have to reconnect to your SkyPortal WiFi.

Take your $ and buy lotto tickets instead, this may be the most frustrating, time consuming, maddening piece of garbage ever sold. I spent hours and days trying to get it to work, all the while thinking I was dong something wrong. Nope, its basically a finicky, intermittent, poorly engineered, poorly designed implementation of hat would have been a great idea if Celestron had put the proper thought into it. As a LIFELONG Celestron man, I cannot express how deeply disappointed I am I this piece of junk.

The SkyPortal works great and is so easy to set up and use. The smartphone app you use with it is straight forward and a great asset even when not using the portal. If you like me are tired of star hopping to try and find interesting objects in the night sky this is for you.

4 stars because of the obtrusive design. I had to order an additional AUX splitter cable to move it off the base of my SE mount, otherwise it could have be crushed by my scope when it navigated to near zenith views. Otherwise, works great. Either the mount's AUX location needs to change or this needs to have a much lower profile.
