Great solution for those with one of the newer generation laptops without the super drives. I had trouble getting my newest mac to mount the drive, but it could be my computer or the USB adapter on the side. I had to use an older computer to moun it and then it worked beautifully. May work best on computers with the older, rectangular USB plugs. It is light, well made and doesn't require a separate power cord.

I’m sure it’ll be a five because I ordered a MacBook Pro and a Wacom tablet that I’m thrilled with. I’m waiting for an adaptor that’s on back order, so I can’t as of yet cement my rating on the Apple Super Drive.

I rarely use this, just a handful of times a year, but when I do need it, it does whats it supposed to. Macbooks got rid of there internal dvd drives man years ago, so this is the only way when necessary.

We were very disapointed when Apple dropped the CD drive from their desktop offering. We use CD's quite a bit. The Superdrive fills the bill nicely and so far we could not be happier. Easy install. Straightforward operation.

Why Apple removed the DVD players from their computers is beyond me, but I found a solution at Adorama! The Apple USB SuperDrive is the perfect solution to the missing drive.

Dead simple to set up and use. Within 2-3 minutes of receiving it I was able to unbox, plug into my Mac and burn a music CD, which is what I purchased it for. It doesn't get much more "plug-n-play" than this. Would definitely recommend.

I purchased this as a replacement for one just like it that was 6 years old. The previous one stopped working with DVD's & would eject them quickly, though CD's would still engage. I used another grand, as interim, but this one just works smoother.

This is a great product. All you have to do is plug it into your Mac and it works! I purchased this after a different disc drive I had purchased refused to work. Do be warned that the drive must plug DIRECTLY into your Mac to work - it can't power itself if you use a USB hub. I would definitely recommend purchasing this without any second thoughts.

Works well thus far. The only setback is apple doesn't support bluray technology,but that is the only thing I can find at fault.

Being a new Mackbook Pro owner after 35 years of being a PC/Widows fan, I am still getting over my shell shock. ADmittedly, the SuperDrive is a thing of beauty, but it's smart looks does not make up for a general lack of good ergonomics. We old timers have come to appreciate a few simple accessories such as an eject button, and a blinking light to indicate that the darn thing is actually working. THe unit is well dampened from noise, but my hearing just isn't what it use to be. The CD transfers of new software went swiftly and without any problems, and music CDs played without a hitch. LIke most Apple products, the SuperDrive is styleish, well built, and a good value... I would recommend it to a friend, but I would caution them to make sure they learn how to eject discs as I did, by watching a MacBook Pro video on YouTube !

As the new computers no longer have CD/DVD drives this is a must for those of us that still use such things. Plugs right in to the USB and is very easy for storage. I use mine for picture storage and that saves save in the hardr drive. I can work with the pictures right from the external drive. Great purchase and addition to my system.

This DVD writer/reader runs smoothly and quiet. The speed is great. Very easy to use; just plug in via USP and ready to go. The outside cover is very steady, metallic looking, and durable but low weight.
