Impressive Lens for the quality and price.

I'm very impressed with results of this lens, is very sharp, I test it out with my Nikon d7200 and d850 and very happy with the results I got so far, I haven't got the chance to practice much with all the apertures and speed yet, until my fall and winter dedicated photo field trip. the only thing I don't like is manual focus, it needs a special attention at shooting, but after all is a great lens, I'm very happy with it.

Love it.

Got this lens for astrophotography work but have used it for some wide angle shots of a recent wildfire here in California. I am in love with this lens. Super sharp.

Not ‘tack sharp’ it’s razor sharp.

I’ve only had this lens a very short time and it is already one of my very favorite lenses, and I own a lot more than I care to admit. This Irix 15mm is better than ‘tack sharp’ it is razor sharp as far as I am concerned. I always get a kick out of people that review different lenses and say ‘it’s a little soft in the corners’. What rubbish. Who looks in the corners anyway. I’m certain if you look around you will find some people criticizing this lens for one reason or another. For those of us in the real world, ignore the noise. It’s simply a fabulous lens.

Great Lens

I got a used copy from Adorama as part of a trade for other equipment. The optical performance of this lens is as good as any super wide I have ever used. Color rendition is on a par with Zeiss, Sigma and Nikon lenses - perhaps slight differences in color saturation in the blues and greens...but you can easily match the rendition of your other lenses. Sharpness on a Z6 or Z7 (with adapter) is very good, especially in the center. The mechanical construction seems to be superb also..it feels well damped. The infinity lock is handy. The lens profiles in Camera Raw / LR do not get applied automatically - but they should be in there in the latest versions to apply manually.

Really solid performer

Upon opening this package, I was blown away by the packaging itself! Initially, there's an Irix branded box that's very stiff that gives you a quality feel, and inside that is an Irix branded tin box that houses the lens. But wait, it gets better, you open it to reveal your lens inside a stiff zip-up pouch that perfectly houses your lens. Regardless, here are my pros and cons: Pros: - Crazy Sharp - Gorgeous and Solid Metal build (feels like the Porsche of lenses) - F2.4 aperture - Great weather sealing - Buttery smooth focus ring - Metal lens hood Cons: - Large filter thread (95mm) Overall, I'm super impressed with this lens. I can't think of one scenario where I was disappointed with its performance. If your debating on getting this, just get it! You won't regret it.

Buy it, great lens

I had rented this lens for a trip to the Southwest and came away very impressed with it. Adorama had it on sale and I got mine fairly quickly. UPS delayed my delivery and Adorama gave me credit for that. The IQ on this lens is phenomenal. The build quality is exceptional with features that you will not find on the major brands. It is all manual but has a focus confirmation chip. The hyperfocal scale and the "hard stop" at infinity along with the fluorescent markings are very clever ideas for night and astrophotography. Do not skimp and buy the plastic version of this lens. The entire package comes in a cool metal tin. The lens comes in a nice semi hard case. I would definitely buy it over all the other cheap brands and over the more expensive brands.

Wow

Ok so this lens is heavy yes. But the images I've been able to capture with Irix 15mm. Priceless. Only had this lens for 2 weeks and I have zero complaints. Bought a nisi 95mm filter for her and got to keep my v5 pro nisi system. The image is more crisp and sharp from f/4 on up but the astro photography is amazing with the f/2.4. Overall. Love love love.

Lived up to expectations

Got this lens specifically for a trip to the beach. This thing is built like a tank and captures beautiful photos. Sharp, excellent color, no vignetting or distortions. highly recommended.

Interesting design. Poor build and quality control.

On paper this lens looked terrific. Well sealed metal body for hard outdoor use in all conditions. Fast aperture making it usable for low light and astro work. However, upon receiving the lens I found it was properly calibrated to focus at infinity. Irix addresses this issue by providing very detailed instructions for me to re-calibrate the lens. Upon opening the lens to do the adjustment I found one of the two expected lock screws were missing. I don't think a brand new lens should need the end user to re-calibrate it. Clearly the assembly and quality control of these lenses is sub par. I gave up and returned the lens. I am happily using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS which is better built, provided stabilization and autofocus.

Superb Landscape/Astro lens

I bought this for my Pentax K-1 because even though it is manual focus it is still an exceptional value and useful lens. The Blackstone build quality is more Swiss than Korean and the reason I went with the Blackstone is because the weather sealing is at three points, including the front of the lens which comes in handy when you hang out in rivers. I found the image quality excellent at all stops and with very little distoration. The best feature are the gel filters, which allows you to have a polarizer and ND filters at the same time (DOPE) and easily get stack ND filters. Yes, it is a little tricky to do this in the field but the gel pack is 10 dollars, you get three ND filters (2,3,4) and it takes up zero space. Why more manufactures don’t do this is beyond me. Lastly, the hard case is fantastic, and is something you can just thrown in your bag.

Really sharp!

This is one of the sharpest lenses I have ever owned. Getting used to the wide angle is a bit tricky, as I have to get way closer then expected to shoot anything but landscapes. This lens works good at night, which is why I bought it.

A solid piece

Crystal clear & solid construction. A bit tough on a crop sensor. Requires some intense settings but delivers none the less

Terrific wide-angle for full frames.

I. Got this lens specifically for wide angle landscapes... and it's delivering as promised. Very little, if any, distortion at the edges. Build quality is beautiful and the lens is very sharp based on the shots I've tried so far.
