Meets all my needs.

Reviewed a number of other mirrorless camera before choosing this one. I picked this one because I wanted to upgrade from a point and shoot camera that might ease me into a more professional camera. I also picked it because of its size and weight-I have small hands and also have some arthritis as well. Sale price was also a determinant.

Excellent Intermediate Camera

I have been using an Olympus E-PL3 for many years. During that time I have basically just used the "Auto" setting. Recently I decided to actually about all the other modes and the "exposure triangle". After some time getting my head around aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc., I realized I needed to move to the next level. The OM-D line seemed pretty appealing but a bit out of my price range. When I saw that I could get a reconditioned E-M10 III at a good price, I jumped on it. So far I've been extremely pleased with this camera and the capabilities it provides. The usability of this camera compared to my E-PL3 is almost like going from a screw driver to a power-drill. And thanks to all my studying and research ahead of time most of the functionality of the E-M10 III will not be forsaken!

A very versatile compact camera

A step up from the E-PL7 I have been using for the past few years. It has more features and a simpler menu plus the viewfinder and built-in flash streamline operations. As I enjoy night photography using a smartphone as a remote control eliminates ANY camera shake when releasing the shutter. All this in a smaller package than a DSLR. And the ability to share batteries and lenses with the E-PL7 allows me to have a full arsenal of cameras. My only beef is the shorter battery life versus the PEN.

Bird photography little camera

I bought this little camera to test it. I have heard it is good for bird photography with my 75-300 mm Olympus lens, so I wanted to see if it is true. So far so good. It is very small and easy to carry. As I perfect my photography methods, it is doing good. I am having fun! So for the purpose of my wants, I am happy with the results. It is not a beast in low light, but I will not be taking photos of birds during the darkest part of the day, so I am fine. Great little camera!!

Perfect for our needs!

This was the perfect camera for my wife. I bought it for her birthday and she can’t put it down. We love the way it looks and feels and the picture and video quality are both impressive.

Exactly what I was looking for

So far I'm liking the camera very much. Wasn't expecting the extras that came with it - the camera bag and memory card - so that was definitely a nice surprise. It's exactly the perfect size to take on trips which is the main reason I bought this model specifically. Also just looks good design wise - always a plus.

Lasted less than six months before needing repaired

Purchased this camera in January 2020 and less than six months later the camera is unresponsive and will need repaired. After looking this up it seems others have had this issue as well. Was a great little camera until that issue.

I absolutely love my new Olympus M10 III camera

I had done quite a lot of homework once I decided to invest in a new camera, replacing my iPad and iPhone. I was mystified by the Lumix I had 10 years ago, but for the most part, the Olympus camera takes the mystery out of photography and adds pleasure. I love the online courses, and the YouTube recommendations and hints are magnificent. I purchased my camera at the perfect time, when I am sequestered and have plenty of time to explore its features. I am In absolute love with the explanations that appear on the screen to help me remember what a feature can do. At 79, I can't remember everything, and the screen hints and definitions are so much better than writing a cheat sheet on the palm of my hand.

Great value!

I?m giving the O-MD M-10 mk III five stars because it?s a great value for money. As a purely amateur enthusiast, I?ve shot with Olympus PEN series cameras for years, including the E-PL1, E-PL2, and E-PL7. I resisted stepping up to the O-MD models, mainly because I just like the retro looks of the PEN cameras. But having decided to try it, I?m glad I did! The viewfinder adds a nice option, but the main difference is the added features in the Mk III. I find it a great fit for the kind of ?people photography? I like, especially when paired with the Olympus 45mm 1:1.8 lense. I also like pairing it with the G. Zuiko 50mm 1:1.4 lense I bought for my 35mm OM-1 over 40 years ago. Yes, I?ve been an Olympus loyalist for a long time!

Mark 3 Review

This was my first mirrorless camera. I recently switched from using a DSLR and I am very impressed at how far the technology has come. The camera is light but feels very solid and is so easy to use. It has a classic look but with a modern twist to it and the price is excellent. I really love this camera.

Great little camera!

So far I am loving this camera. It is extremely easy to use, though I am still getting used to all the functionality, having come from an old Panasonic GF1. The EVF combined with the touchscreen puts everything you need at your fingertips, while the assignable buttons and dials are in the perfect spots (except perhaps the function 1 button which is just a bit too far back on the camera...) I may, in the end, regret not having gone with the EM5, but so far I am really pleased with the ease of use and ability to capture fantastic images of the EM10

Solid little camera.

I had the first iteration of this camera and LOVED it. It was stolen, and I wanted 4K video when I replaced it, which is why I jumped up to the Mkiii. Some of the functionality has been removed from the earlier model, and regarding “advanced shooting” modes, they have really stripped them down to very little in terms of parameter control. But at the end of the day, it is a very well designed little piece of gear, and produces excellent photos. The video quality is actually very useable as well, considering that video is clearly an afterthought on a camera like this.

Great camera & excellent value

I have owned this camera for a couple of weeks now. It replaces a Canon Rebel which I've owned for ten years or so. The technological advancements made during this period of time is unbelievable. I am very pleased with the features of the E-M10 Mark III, especially the image stabilization capability. I am still learning how to operate its many functions but so far I am quite happy with my purchase.

Low Quality Performance

This camera is not worth the price (low resolution, blurry view finder, the 2x crop factor will cut your light in half, no wired remote shutter available, many missing features found in its predecessor Mark II (THE MARK III IS NOT AN UPGRADE FROM THE MARK II.) . You will need an iPhone to view instruction videos and operate the camera remotely. While it is advertised showing advanced mirrorless features, the camera is "dumbed down" and not for experienced users. In response to my complaints to Olympus, I received an email stating …"The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III camera is our newest entry level camera intended for beginners moving up from iPhone photography"...). I think you can do much better with point and shoot cameras from Panasonic, Nikon and Sony. My Panasonic ZS40 is a better camera at half the price.

Great product at a great price.

Wanted a decent camera that won?t break the bank. Bought it based on reviews in a couple of ?magazines?. It?s so nice to have a camera that is light and so much better than my IPhone X. Easy to learn and fun to shoot.

Fabulous camera with ability to do all functions. On learning curve but with repetitive use should be no problem. Light weight and compact makes it great travel camera.

Small form factor, great pictures

Smaller sensor means a smaller camera and smaller lenses, but still great pictures. I really like the feel of the dials. They rotate with just the right amount of effort. I tried a Fujifilm at the store, and the exposure compensation dial needed a thumb and finger to rotate. The EM10 needs just one. All Olympus lenses are second to none in performance vs value. And it is very reasonably priced compared with competitors. Suggest these sites on Youtube to learn: Peter Forsgard, Robin Wong, Rob Trek. Very satisfied.

Great Tech at a Great Value

I got spoiled by the IBIS of my Pen F and wanted another body with 5 axis stabilization. I can take pin sharp hand held telephoto pictures 9 times out of 10. I can also take low light photos without running up the ISO and keeping the photos from being too noisy. My 2 Pen Mini 2s are great for their size and age but the 3 axis IBIS doesn't compare. The OM-D E-Mark III is actually cheaper than a nice used Pen Mini 2 with an EVF, making it a great value for a much more advanced camera. Now, If we could convince Olympus to make a Pen Mini 3 with 20 megapixels and 5 axis IBIS that still accepts an EVF, it would be ideal. I still love the small size of the Mini. I shoot a lot in the deserts of Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and UTAH. It don't like to change lens in this environment, so having several small camera bodies is nice. It is nice to have 2 to 3 cameras with me the appropriate lenses ready to go.

Overdue upgrade

I have had an Olympus DSLR since 2006. I have not used it regularly in a few years, but really wanted to get back into using an exchangeable lense camera. This took some adjusting to, being so many years newer, and smaller. The images are crisp and I am learning the change in button layout and loving the wifi upload, real-time aperature adjustment before I take the picture, and touch screen. I have only scratched the surface of what it will do! The smaller lenses are also great, though it would have been nice to use my older Zuiko lenses. They feel bulky on the smaller body, and do not work as I was hoping with the adapter.

Fantastic Camera

I just purchased an OM-D EM-1 Mark II and an assortment of lenses for my use. I love it. I wanted my wife to enjoy the same "photographic high" I am now on. So we purchased this smaller version for her (and me) to use. High on my list is low weight, great image quality, availability of lenses, and the overall cost. This camera gives outstanding image quality using the kit pancake lens and can use the new Olympus Pro lenses that I just purchased. The image color is outstanding right out of the camera. I am amazed at the image detail that the E-10 mIII can deliver. We are so pleased with this camera. I read somewhere that ?The best camera is the one that is with you?. The OM-10 E-M10 assures that I (we) will always have a great camera with us.

Great on the go and back up camera

I did a lot of looking for a great full featured backup camera to my OM-D E-M1 Mark II. The OM-D E-M10 Mark III is perfect for my needs. No sacrificing quality for a smaller, easier to carry camera. Especially for when I want a camera for the unexpected opportunity without the bulk of my bigger camera.

Just about all you need!

There's been a lot of talk of the Mark iii being aimed at beginning photographers. To clarify, Olympus has made it easier for beginners to use the camera, but all the big bells and whistles are still there for the serious enthusiasts as well. With this camera, I'm covered in all but the most demanding weather situations, as it is not sealed for this. With a little knowledge and the correct lens, you won't have problems in low light or catching fast movement. I like this camera

By jeff d.

This camera has some very nice features including the WiFi and app which make it very easy to get the photos to your phone. The body itself feels solid. The touch screen works great and I like the image stabilization. I will say that the 40-150mm lens feels very cheap. I purchased the 14-150mm which feels more solid.

TOP TIPS FOR GETTING PET PHOTOS THAT STANDOUT SOCIALLY

Pet Photography
  • Your pet has the most beautiful face in the world. Make sure it’s always clear in photos. We count on the Face Detection autofocus feature on the E-M10 Mark III. When you look at Aspen’s photos, his facial features are always sharp.
  • Your pet looks best in soft, diffused light. They have so many unique features and distinctive markings that you never want to lose them in shadow or highlights.

Pet Photography
  • Sink to your pet’s level. Get on the ground, get dirty and shoot from your pet’s point of view. The E-M10 Mark III’s compact size and tilting touch screen makes getting these types of shots easy.
  • When shooting Aspen’s portrait, we use a M.Zuiko 12-100mm F4.0 IS PRO lens (24-200mm in 35mm equivalent). For shooting landscapes with Aspen, we use a M.Zuiko 12-40mm F2.8 PRO lens (24-80mm in 35mm equivalent).

FOLLOW SARAH’S TIPS AND TECHNIQUES TO CREATE TASTY FOOD PHOTOS

6826sarah2_36591.jpg

FOOD PHOTOS

  • Shooting with Aperture Priority Mode works best for me. A wide aperture is crucial to get amazing shots of food, so I tend to use a setting of F4.5 or wider. This helps to create a shallow depth of field so the food pops off the photo.
  • It’s important that my photos have consistent look and feel. One way to achieve this consistency is to use the same focal length for each shoot. Once I set the focal length, I try not to change it..
  • The OM-D E-M10 Mark III shoots remarkably well in low light situations. I’m not afraid to bump up the ISO to get a crisp shot. The camera’s built-in image stabilization system ensures shots taken in dim light look amazing.
6826sarah157_62752.jpg

FOOD PHOTOS

  • Composition is important. Always make the food the hero of your photograph. Stay away from props and complicated backgrounds that take someone’s focus off the food you’re photographing.
  • If you’re just getting started, try shooting food with lots of texture, like a grain bowl, loaded salads, or layered sandwiches. They look great when shot from above. Stay away from food like pizza or enchiladas that look appetizing for only five minutes and then not so much.
  • A camera like the E-M10 Mark III gives you plenty of control over your image. When I shoot, I always choose the lowest possible ISO setting (100 to 200), the widest aperture possible (typically F2.8 to F4.5), and then set the shutter speed accordingly.

  • All the best shots have a cool vantage point. But sometimes you need to get dirty to find a creative perspective. Get on the ground, get up in a tree, and try taking shots from angles most people wouldn’t consider. Use a camera with a tilting or articulating touchscreen to help you frame your shot from unique angles.
  • My camera’s Aperture Priority Mode is my best friend for travel photography. I only have to worry about setting my aperture and my camera automatically figures out the shutter speed and ISO. This setting simplifies more complicated in-the-moment calculations needed to nail the perfect shot. It frees me to be more spontaneous.
  • Getting people in your shot adds a sense of scale and perspective. Plus, people can relate to other people. Just remember to always ask permission before snapping someone’s photo. You can get yourself in trouble if you don’t.

  • Travel light. Smaller gear eliminates so many hassles, especially if you’re out shooting all day. Mirrorless cameras like those in the Olympus OM-D series are so much more comfortable to carry compared to traditional, bulky DSLRs. Even the lenses are smaller and let you be more mobile, so you’re always ready to nail that perfect shot.
  • Ditch your tripod. I rely on my OM-D’s built-in image stabilization system to get clear, crisp photos, even if I’m moving and shooting at the same time. It's great to be able to shoot handheld and know your shots won’t come out blurry.
  • Every travel photographer needs a go-to lens. Mine is the M.Zuiko 12-100mm F4 IS PRO because it has the ideal range to capture a variety of scenes. If I’m shooting subjects like wildlife from a distance, I rely on the M.Zuiko 40-150mm F2.8 PRO. And for portraits and landscapes, I use my M.Zuiko 17mm F1.8.
