eh

Although taken many pictures have come out wonderfully, this camera has a very short battery life. Also, you cannot use it while it is charging, which sometimes is necessary. And the amount of time you have to record videos is very short, 12 minutes

Decent for the price.

I have owned this camera for about 6 months now. Daytime and outdoor pictures are great. It takes a dump when you use it indoors in relatively low lighting. Front shutter has a protective cover that suppose to be covering the lense while the camera is not being used, it worked for about 1 week and then it gets stuck doesn't cover properly sometime not at all. Battery is decent and options are good for a Point & Shoot.

Dud Battery

Camera takes great photos; Battery is junk, works well for about 3 months then will not recharge. Bought camera in April, replaced battery in Sept. by Dec. battery will no longer accept a charge.

High quality pics

I baught this camera for a road trip across the country. It took amazing pictures on the go and was great for quick pictures. I loved the way it adjusts to horrible backlighting, its landscape pics, and the ability to take high quality movies. I was most impressed on how great my pictures came out, (Beautiful colors and crisp images.) I did have some issues with the battery not holding a charge. Minor setback, but was able to cope by just charging more often.

Not what I was expecting

My parents bought me this camera last christmas and the screen is already cracked because I dropped it once. Probably bad luck, but I'm still disappointed because I now need another camera. While its nice to have a touchscreen, it can be annoying for others that are not used to it. A lot of the pictures end up coming out blury. All in all I liked my bulky camera more.

Nice Camera!

Great camera, BUT the wire burned out in my camera after just two months. My husband bought me the camera for christmas and by the end of february the camera would no longer charge. I looked up the solution online as it is a common problem with this camera.

Nice and compact. Good Quality.

S6100 is light, compact and good quality camera. Its perfect for beginners who have basic photography needs and use it for occasional photo clicking. Liked it.

Great pics, easy to use, easy to break

The camera takes great pics and is very easy to use, I bought it for my electronically challenged SO. However, during a recent move the camera was damaged. I have had several SLRs and consider cameras on the fragile side so we packed the Cool Pix with the rest of the cameras. Unfortunately it did not survive the move, the lens mechanism malfunctioned and is now totally useless.

Touch and go with this one

It's not good for action shots or ones with low lighting if you are a photographer on the run. It also has a sticky lens cover that breaks often. If you give your camera time to work with it, it can produce some fabulous results. I would attach photos but I'm sending my nikon in again for the second time.

Great value and extremely durable!

This camera provides amazing quality photos for the price. They are great resolution and generally do well while moving. I have used this camera primarily in outdoor settings and it has served me well consistently with its great battery life and durablility. I've literally dropped it on rocks and down trails and even with a few plastic pieces missing it still works like new. My one complaint is that it generally takes poor photos in low light (flash too bright and no flash way too dark/blurry). Overall, this is a great camera for a casual photographer that wants good photos without spending a fortune.

Not my kind of camera!

Bought my camera 3 months ago....Now it wont charge at all! The SD I have used in it(SUCCESSFULLY UNTIL NOW) since I bought it now will not work on my computer OR another camera! So my pics that are on it are just GONE! Very irritated that I spent the extra money thinking NIKON was great and now this! NEVER again will I buy a NIKON!

Great Buy!

I spent thousands on the D7000 all the goodies and love it...Today my wife wanted a beginner camera to take away for a business trip...(.Keep in mind I buy the cheap skillet, because I know she will ruin it..)..I found for her the Coolpix S6100 for ($) bucks (AU) We brought it home and I was totally shocked! This camera has almost everything that my camera has and is so easy to use...the touch screen and the light weight is a bonus...I know I'm the better photographer in the family, and I pay the bills with my skills. But shes right there behind me! Cheers

pretty good

great camera for being to bring around the pool, picnic, party. just pretty much for close up pictures. I would recommend this if your going to use it for close detailed pictures. But for distant pictures I wouldn't suggest this because of the zoom.

----> Nice camera

I have a Nikon P50 (8.1 megapixel) which takes good pictures. After 2 years with it, wanted to buy something better & bought Nikon S6100. I take pictures once in a while & last week went to Mèxico city, of course it was the perfect time to test the camera. *PROS -16 MEGAPIXEL: photos looks great in all light conditions -Touch screen(lcd) with stylus: very easy to use. Nice feature, you take pics. with one touch -Lots of options: Retouch, paint, motion detection, vibration & wind noise reduction, etc. -HDMI port & small size -Price: US$183.- (Mèxico) -Li-ion battery & USB(charger): No more batteries!! CONS: -Only 720p video: Well, it does the job for me. 720p is HD & looks very good. Can`t complain. It`s a camera, not a video-camera. For "more money" you get the S6200 (Full HD) with stereo sound -Lens(x7): For me it`s perfect, but, once again, if you want more , get the S6200(x10) I`m happy & will buy Nikon in the future without a doubt ! We all know that Nikon (along with "C---N") is one of the best camera brand in the world. Others ? A joke!

Great camera for a great price

I bought this camera at Best Buy in a bundle that included an extra rechargeable battery, a hard camera case, and a 4 gigabyte memory card for 149.99. I bought this to use just as a fun camera to carry around and take normal pics of my friends and family etc. as I already own a very nice camera from another manufacturer. I use this camera for almost everything! It has lots of cool features, is very compact, and takes great pics. Between this camera and some adobe software I'm taking absolutely amazing, magazine quality pictures. Nothing bad to say about this camera.

Perfect for what I wanted~

I bought this camera to take to a convention where I knew there would be terrible light and where I knew that there would be ALOT of pictures to take (anime conventions are like that), so I knew I would need a high ISO level. This camera was on sale and so I thought I would buy it. When I came home I played with it A TONNE! and I was so happy with what I was seeing, in the bad lighting of my home sweet home I got perfect pictures! It takes portraits gorgeously and it takes STUNNING close up still-lives (I took some pictures of some flowers I got for valentines day and they are amazing!). I have been bragging about this camera to EVERY one I know!

Great camera

I purchased this camera to have one smaller than the full sized one I have. It fits in my shirt pocket and takes great pictures. It is so easy to use that I have not even had to use the instructions. And I donot have to buy a camcorder. This thing takes better video than my old camcorder and is easier to use. I see that many people have had out of focus pictures? Most all digital cameras you need to be still when taking pictures. I purchased mine online and got a bunch or extras for a great price. Great job Nikon!

FABULOUS CAMERA!

I got my Nikon for Christmas. I'd been begging for one for years. I got a Nikon 4 years ago [it was the cheapest one they had] and it took wonderful pictures, but the lens got messed up a week after I got it. I was so excited when I got this one, and have not been disappointed. It's taken some really amazing pictures so far, and the videos are of excellent quality. I would HIGHLY recommend this camera to ANYONE.

Great Camera

I have had the camera for about a year now and it is great. The only thing that isn't so good is the nighttime pictures. When you try to take nighttime pictures there is a lot of noise. I also tried to take the camera skiing and it froze and fogged up but the pictures still looked pretty good. I recently dropped the camera and the lens broke and it would not work so i hit it and it started working again. Now the camera focuses pretty slow. I will add more pictures in another comment...

great camra : slight issue

I got this for my birthday back in summer and i am happy with it but it has a few issues. I love the size the pics are pretty good quality and the touch screen and features are great, battery - not so great. It does not hold it charge very long. Also when i am trying to take a pic, but mostly when i am shooting a video, the zoom gets messed up. When i am taking a video if i zoom in/ out it gets really blurry and stays that way :( also when i take more then 3 videos in a short period of time and i try to shoot another one, the screen goes green and the whole thing freezes and you have to take out the battery to get it back to normal. It also stinks that it wont worked when charging. Also the battery bar will say full then the next minute it will shut off from battery exhaustion. Other then the battery and the zoom, its a pretty good camera for the price.

Ok for the money.

I got this for Christmas for 1/2 price. If I'd have paid full price, I would be disappointed. But it does a decent job. Decent in auto mode. Can be somewhat complicated in non-auto mode. Acceptable videos.

Second Costco Version died

Bought this for my daughter's birthday. Her first REAL camera. Took a few great pics. Battery died and would not charge or turn on again. Replaced THAT one and a couple of months later we have THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM with the replacement camera. Strongly recommend you look elsewhere.

Not very impressive

I'm tired of everything being touch screen. My phone, my camera, and my computer. None of them work properly and this is even worse than trying to type a text message on an IPhone. Tiny little menu tabs and icons that you need to press 15 times before it actually works. Annoying. For a 16mp camera I'm not sure the picture quality is what I expected afterall, it means nothing if it doesn't work in poor lighting or have a decent flash. It also does what my last Coolpix camera does, if you want to snap a moment quick you're out of luck. Not only do you need to count to 3 for it to focus and take the picure, I feel like it needs a 10 count. This is my last attempt at Coolpix cameras. Ashton can keep these.

BARELY USED IT

JUNK, techincally I've owned this camera for 3 months, but only used it 3 times. The pictures, no matter what settings I use, all come up bad. The video quality is sub-par. The battery doesnt hold a charge. I wish I didn't buy this.

Loved this camera until it failed.

I received this camera for my birthday in the summer and took it to Europe. It took beautiful photos and was easy to use. I took it to shoot a sunset in December and there is a black spot, about in the center, of all my photos. It's off to Nikon for a fix. We'll see what transpires....hopefully they will honor the guarantee, but how long before it fails again?

Exceptional image quality...

By VRay

A great camera camera that takes incredibly sharp shots and has a remarkably powerful zoom. Just cannot understand why its designer (s) made such a poor judgment of placing the flash where the left index finger helps to firmly hold the camera... Just DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE! Consequently, many shots are wasted as a result of our finger preventing the flash to pop up. Uhmmmm

Great! I'd recommed to anyone!

By JusticeForAll

I LOVE this camera! The colors are vibrant and amazing, with some coming out even better than they are in reality. It has great filter effects, including: *Selective Color *FishEye *Miniature *Cross Screen (as well as black & white, sepia, and more.) The best of the effects has to be the glamour retouch. It makes your face look fantastic! It takes awesome pictures from afar. I'd recommend this camera to anyone who wants great quality photos, and likes to play around with how they look.

The Nikon Coolpix S6100 (Silver) compact design packs a staggering 16 megapixels-the highest available in a Coolpix- to ensure super sharp, ultra detailed images, wherever life takes them.
