Can Silver be cool?

I bought this (last one...marked down) for my wife to use, mostly around the homestead. We have nice sunsets/rises on a regular basis and her p&s doesn't do them justice. I bought this and 18-200mm lens and they work well. I've yet to try my better '7D approved glass' on it but it is on my list to do. I'm thinking of a travel body with a 2/3 lens kit for when the whole nine yards isn't needed. We'll see...

Great deal for the dollar!

My first SLR was a Canon F-1 in 1972, and I've had many since. I looked long and hard for a new one, and finally settled on the XSi. I dont do videos or make print larger than 13"x19", so the XSi fits the bill. I wish it had an articulated screen like my G11, and the body could be a little larger. That said, not much else to nit pick about. A few years ago, I would have bought a full frame model, but I'm now retired, so this one fits my needs. For the money, it can't be beat. I"m giving it five stars based on it's quality verses the price.

Great value and ease of use

I needed a camera that I could hand to an inexperienced employee and get consistent photos of our raft trips without spending a bundle. Got it!

LOVE IT!!

My SLR lenses work perfectly with it. I appreciate that Canon has kept this camera's icons, symbols, control positions the same as my old camera; short learning curve. The LCD screen is amazingly big. This is my 6th Canon camera - what can I say? LOVE IT.

The pictures are clear and crisp

I take a lot of pictures of my son playing college baseball. The pictures are clear and crisp. I am using my 28-200 Tamron lense that I had on my 35mm camera and it works great. I can even take pictures behind the net or fence and not get the fence in the pictures.

  • Auto Optimization: The EOS Rebel XSi's Auto Optimization is yet another image-quality tool that comes to the rescue in tricky lighting conditions. It can actually lighten dark areas of a scene while ensuring that bright areas maintain tonal detail
  • DIGIC III Image Processor: Developed to maximize performance between the capture and recording stages of digital photography, the EOS Rebel XSi's latest-generation DIGIC III Image Processor works in concert with Canon's CMOS sensor to achieve even higher levels of performance
  • Excellent performance with 3.5 fps continuous shooting, up to 53 full-resolution JPEGs or 6 RAW images in a burst and reduced shutter lag time: The EOS Rebel XSi operates with such effortless speed that operation is nothing short of intuitive
  • Large 3.0-inch LCD monitor, with 170° wide viewing angle, superior viewing in daylight and Live View Function: The EOS Rebel XSi has a huge, bright 3.0-inch TFT LCD monitor with 230,000 pixels and a viewing angle of 170°. It's perfect for Live View composition or viewing camera settings

  • Self Cleaning Sensor Unit: A key element of minimizing dust is preventing it from clinging to the front surface of the imaging sensor. To combat against this, the EOS Rebel XSi features a Canon-designed Self Cleaning Sensor Unit
  • Dust Delete Data Detection: Dust that may still remain on the front of the sensor can also be erased with software included in Digital Photo Professional (DPP) Version 3.3 or later software
  • Picture Style settings: With the EOS Rebel XSi's Picture Style technology, photographers can change the look of their digital photographs. Color, saturation, sharpness and contrast settings create noticeable variation in the saved image
