Home theater worked great for the first month. Then one day while watching TV, the sound cut off, heard a pop and then the receiver started smoking in the back! Obviously I returned it and was issued a full refund.

I am enjoying this home theater system YHT-5960U very much. The price was just right. Boxing material and guide to setup is top quality. The sound is superb. The only thing is I ran out of speaker wires. It would be nice if they provide 20-30 feet more. I have a home office 15X17 feet. This system was the ideal solution for my home office. Now I can enjoy my TV, desktop, Iphone, bluetooth laptop using this system. Price was the most important factor to me, then quality, Most of all I like the fact that I can trun on my Walmart T.V. and the system comes on automatically. The same thing with my laptop. When I turn on my laptop it comes on automatically. I love it.

Excellent product for the price YHT-5960U

Loved it until I decided to update the firmware. My unit bricked and will not complete an update. Yamahas "fix" was to pay for shipping to LA and see if they can maybe fix it. No estimate on labor costs or if they could even do anything. No thanks ill buy a brand new Sony receiver and never purchase from Yamaha again. Shameful.

Firmware Update Bricked my Receiver and Yamaha has no fix

Excellent product replaced 20-year-old Bose Lifestyle system. Set up for the most part was easy, although, still trying to get the Bluetooth function working. Owner's manual could have more detail on what all of the function's do. I went to YouTube for some explanations. Sound is great, room filling. I would recommend this product.

Yamaha Home Theater YHT-5960U

This was a second thought purchasing a pre-packaged home theater system. I wanted to purchase something I could grow with but the more I looked and harder I tried to squeeze what I could out of my budget it just was not in the cards. So I actually reluctantly bought the system. After setting up the system and having a few hours of break in time I'm really surprised The center speaker is very effective, I hear things from movies that I've watched several times that I've never heard before. And playing music or TV through the sound decoder example jazz through the cellar club, adds a bit of realism to it. It did take a little bit for the woofer to fully break in versus the speakers. Another good thing is there were a few updates for this recently so you know that Yamaha still taking care of the product. I guess a little bit about why I said what I said would give you a better picture I haven't had a stereo system setup and over 30 years I'm used to old school big components in speakers The system has definitely made me rethink that philosophy.

Pleasantly Surprised

This product is fantastic, great surround sound and perfect pitch and volume fills the rooms with so much life. Since i set it up it has so much power to the bass sometimes i have to turn it down. The Yamaha YHT-5960U is a perfect replacement for my wired Bose Lifestyle 28, It performs great and, given that they are being discontinued, the price is phenominal - if you can still find one. 28 June 2024

Perfect replacement for wired Bose Lifestyle 28

I purchased this to replace a older Bose Lifestyle V25, and it is difficult to tell the difference between the two. The menu system took a little time to get used to, but now all is fine.

Sounds Great

For the price range which is at the lower end, the sound is very good. I wish Yamaha has spend a couple of more dollars on the buttons as the front feels cheap and plastic, including the knobs.

The associated app works well and it's a very versatile unit as far as connections.

Please keep in mind the ethernet connection is only 100, not gigabit, so some newer networks may complain and this unit would probably be the culprit.

The first set of speakers were defective, but Yamaha send a replacement.

Good sound, cheap buttons

This is the third Yamaha Receiver that I bought recently. I decided for the price I got the speakers as well. Listening to music has been a problem because I am hard of hearing, and at times I could not hear a performer singing or they sounded flat. I thought that my receiver was not working properly. I love that I was able use the YPAO to optimize the speaker settings automatically using a trípod for the microphone. It worked out perfectly, and now the singing sounds great. My only issue is that the sound mutes when I turn it on. I have to turn it off then turn it on again. I don't know if there is a way to fix this.

I Love My New Yamaha System

I've owned many Yamaha products in the past and this one lives up to the reputation and performance of the Yamaha name. It was purchased as part of a home theater system that I donated to my church and those who have utilized it are very impressed.

Amazing system for the price

We use this surround sound system on our family room tv. It was very easy to set up and use. The sound separation is fantastic and the pairing to our current remote was seamless. I only give it four stars because the speakers could have been a little better. The sound is very good at low to normal volumes but when watching a fast action movie at higher volumes the sound does get a little distorted. #sweepstakes

Everything works great, except need a switched power outlet on the back of the amp for the subwoofer. That way you won't forget to turn it on or off.

YHT-5960

I've been fairly well satisfied with it. I've had one weird issue with the volume. It kept turning itself up even when I turned it back down. The only fix was to unplug it. Tried just power off and back on but didn't work,neither did a reset. 
I got a small place and it's been the perfect size and sound for my space.

Sounds good

super surprised by the sound quality for the price, Thumbs up ! Have no negative's at this time it's still new , I just hope it lasts as well as it sounds .

Definitely worth the $$$$ in my opinion.

We stream movies, watch series, and sometime just listen to great music. The surround sound is great!
