Great lens. All my research leads to this being the best bang for your buck. From macro to portraits this is a good all around option.

Unfortunatelly , the Canon Version doesn't have an Aperture Ring which the Nikon version has. So you can set the aperture only electronically. What a pitty.

This lens is sharp and easy to use. I can't believe it is this good for this price. As others have mentioned, the only drawback is the focusing motor is slow. That is not a problem for me.

This lens is a sleeper!!!! Solid construction, with great weight and feel. Purchased it on recommendation of a friend, for macro shots, however it can easily be a go to lens for portrait shots or everyday shooting. Shots are crystal sharp in the center with amazing background blur for macro shooting at high f-stops. Again, a sleeper. I would never have guessed at the combination of quality, excellence of production, at a great price!

the Tokina lens works very good, the sharpness of the images are very good. I enjoy using the lens so far I have only used the lens for macro shots, but I plan on using it for some portraits

This lens produced great quality macro photos,I think It"s a great value and you should have one in your photo bag.The f/2.8 was great in low light and the background was well blurred.

This lens is compact and light weight, but seems to be quite well made. The photos are incredibly sharp, especially compared to the more expensive Canon lenses I've been attempting to use for macro photos. I love it.

This lens is built the way a lens should be, solid and precise. It's not as fast as the USM lenses but it's dead on every time. Can't go wrong with this purchase.

I first purchased this lens for my beginner camera (the Nikon D90) and used it for six years to shoot everything from small insects to landscapes. I like the lens so much that I recently bought it again for my new Canon 6D. The lens is sharp (set your camera's sharpness setting to max) and produces images of professional quality with beautiful bokah. I have sold thousands of stock images produced with this lens. Try it and you will love it!

Sharp even wide open at f2.8, light and small, pro built quality. Own Nikon 105mm f2.8, this Tokina lens can produce the same IQ as Nikon does, and this Tokina is truly f2.8 even at close focus distance, Nikon 105mm gets about 1.5 stops smaller max aperture at close focus distance. It is a great lens for Macro, portrait and landscape, not for sports, AF is slow sometimes. you can find sample images at my photostream wxwphotos at flickr

I am an amature photographer and this lens is all I could want in a macro. I almost went with the Canon L that was twice the price but I am glad I didnt. This is just as good if not better. I have nothing to complain about it.

Very nice lens for limited use. Does not focus fast enough to get action shots of kids or pets.

I have owned this lens since last spring. It has been a very good lens. I have found that I use it for more portraits than anything else. The bokeh is very pleasing when taking portraits. I love the macro shots that I do take and haven't had many complaints with it. I have noticed that there is some chromatic aberration when there is a bright background on a dark object (like a leaf with the sky in the background). Only a couple times has it been so strong that I deleted the image. The focus is alright but my Canon USM is much faster. It is a little loud, but nothing like my 50mm. I tend to use manual when I shoot macro and I like the front/back style of switching. It's a quick easy switch plus I feel like I'm using a camera shotgun sometimes (That's supposed to be funny). I am not sure how the Canon one would do in similar environments but I bought this because it was so much cheaper than the Canon one. I would probably buy the Canon one if they were within less than $100 of each though. I am very pleased with tokina though and will probably end up buying more lenses from them.

Looked at all the reviews and went with the Tokina 100mm. Glad I did. It has lived up to my expectations at a very reasonable price. My results have been very well received by my clients.

I have never ventured away from the Nikkor lenses until I bought this one based on reviews. It doesn't disappoint. It's solidly constructed and a bit heavier than I expected. For the price, it certainly has met my expectations. The auto focus is pretty noisy, but the images it produces certainly warrants adding this lens to your arsenal if you enjoy macro photography and are on a budget.

I love this lens! Tokina build quality cannot be beaten at the price. This thing is a tank, and so a little on the heavy side, but worth the build quality IMO. Very sharp. Great Macro. Not so crazy about the push-pull AF/MF switching mechanism, but it's OK. All in all, an excellent buy. I can't think of a better lens in its class for the money.

This lens is awesome and I cannot believe the clarity and sharpness of this lens the results will blow you away, it is very easy to use this lens hand held even when doing macro and still get great sharpness and clarity even without the aid of image stabilization, I love this lens and it is probably my favorite lens that I own and could not be more satisfied with it, the one draw back that some people may have (but a feature that I love) is that the focus ring has alot of travel which in my opinion makes for more of a micro adjustment in manual focus and makes it alot easier to fine tune your focus for super clear shots.

Had this lens 1 day and already know going to be one of my main used lenses, goes from extreme macro to beutiful portraits and performs flawlessly switching back and forth a little slow on focus but that is due to extreme rotations to go from one end to the other, but this is fantastic for macro as gives more room for fine tuning focus fabulous in this regard, the only thing that I don't like about this lens is that you can not manually focus with the hood turned around as I sometimes do with my other lenses, but if that is all that I can find wrong then it passes with flying colors. Here's a nifty way to get professional-looking images of small-scale-subjects. Sometimes, modeling (a lighting effect caused by placing the light to the side of your subject) isn't the best way to light your shot. Here's how to get flat lighting--the opposite of modeling.

A ring light is a flash unit that has special characteristics that are optimized for specific and diverse kinds of shooting such as macro, scientific applications...and fashion photograhpy.
Tokina AT-X 100 PRO D lens for digital and film SLR cameras.
The AT-X M100 PRO D is a new macro lens capable of life-sized (1:1) reproduction at 11.8 in. (30 cm). The lens' multi-coating have been re-engineered to match the highly reflective silicon based CCD and CMOS sensors in today's digital SLR cameras, while the optics still give full coverage and excellent sharpness on 35mm film.
The AT-X M100 PRO D also has a very convenient focus limiter switch that can lock the focus out of the closes focus making it focus faster when used as a moderate telephoto or portrait lens.
Other features of the AT-X M100 PRO D are:
Tokina One Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism for fast easy switching between manual and Auto focus.
55mm non-rotating filter thread for use with macro ring flashes and special effects filters.
