A Versatile Lens.

A nice lens, very much as expected from reading several reviews. A little bit soft after 100 mm which I had read about. I shoot often in the 50 to 100mm range and am well satisfied.

Really good lens.

Sharp thru out zoom range, small and light. I was pleasantly surprised, the photos are excellent.

Bought Lens for a friend

Having used this lens for several years myself it was easy to recommend. Well built, smooth operating and takes very good photos over a good range of distance. The ideal walkabout and travel lens.

Good lens for stills...not great for video.

For overall photography this lens is terrific. Much better than a kit lens and if stills are your purpose then it's great for that. However, I bought it for video. I was disappointed in the lack of smoothness in the zoom ring. My 45-150 lens zooms SO smoothly. This lens was a bit jerky and not very usable to zoom in/out during filming.

Excellent for travel

Got to use this for the first time on a short trip to NOLA. Very pleased with the image stabilization and burst. Recommend this for any travel photographer.

Great versatile lens.

I use this as my primary lens on my GX8. I have found the wide-angle to zoom range to be great for quickly composing images in-camera. The zoom ring is precise and fast. I don't use manual focus much on this lens, but it feels smooth. The lens quality is great for the price. I see very little lens flare even while shooting directly into the sun. The stabilization allows for handheld shooting in most lighting. The size is small enough to make this a good travel lens.

No Good for Video

I've had this lens for a couple of weeks. It suffers from bad jitters while recording video. I'm also concerned with sending it in for service based on reviews I've seen online for Panasonic's UD repair facility.

High end kit lens

This is basically a high end kit lens. I do not disparage kit lenses, I actually like them ... so long as they are well made/reliable and deliver decent image quality. This one is priced higher than more basic kit lenses due to a much greater range of FL. I am quite happy with it at its sale price. The zoom action is not "silky smooth" but does no have any roughness that might suggest a defect. It's just is what it is. The lens slows to f/5.5 about halfway thru the zoom range, but I don't really need the longest end [about 90 to 140mm] so FOR MY USE it slows to f/5.6 about 2/3 of the way thru the zoom range. I bought it on that basis and am satisfied with it. *IF* the 90 - 140mm range suffers of reduced image quality, I wouldn't know or care about that.

A super zoom - quite literally

This lens exceeded my expectations. It is very compact and has a great zoom range, I was expecting a trade off in image quality. But this lens produces great images at all focal lengths.

From GX80/5 excelent

Have used it on GH3/GH4/GX7/ GX80 - now GH5. OIS is quite respectable and IQ is very good - if not excellent - across all focal lenghts and edge to edge. I have a little need to use 2,8 pro zooms (until I really need 2,8 AV) and final result is hardly (even pixel peeping) distinguishable. However with non-stabilized bodies there was a problem of microjittering in video. GX80 and subsequent models nailed it - gave it a fresh breath with dual ibis support and finally microjitter was gone. Now with GH5 and dualibis2 (which is surpraisingly supported by this lens) it is even better. Shooting reliably (and really sharpl) 0,5s at 140mm is nothing short of amazing. If I would have been in a situation choosing my first lens this would be definitely on top of my list.

useful and freeing

have only had a short time, so can only speak to immediate impressions. I've been juggling a 14mm prime and olympus' 40-150 (I) for a couple years and this lens happily makes me more mobile, more fast, with greater options. OIS is nice to have. good for run and gun and daylight, which is what I do. IQ is just fine; I, like most of us am susceptible to prolonged internet research, racking up browser tabs and scrutinizing comment and review threads. I'm sure there is a lens out there with nicer qualities but on my BMPCC the image is beautiful enough. Got the lens on sale and Adorama's added gift card kit is a great deal. Us photographers always need more gear so the promotion does not feel exploitative, in fact it feels smart. Thanks Adorama

Excellent purchase, excellent service

I had been reading and comparing cameras on line for some time. There are a lot of reviews for Four Thirds cameras. This particular one afforded a variety of lenses and accessories. Basic use so far has been exceptional. I'm looking forward to shooting in 4K. I haven't had a lot of time to experiment with the unit, but so far I am very pleased with the purchase and the service provided by Adorama. I needed the camera for a special shoot and was leaving town within a couple of days. I received the camera within two days of my purchase.

Great zoom lens!

I have only had this lens a short time but I like it a lot. The zoom range is really incredible. It's pretty sharp across the range except around 140 mm. There's minor vignetting at 14 mm. I bought it for hiking and so I wouldn't be swapping out lenses unless I had a low light situation. It's about the size of a Canon APS-C 18-55 mm lens but lightweight. I think I made a good choice and I highly recommend this lens.

Poor Lens for Portraits

Very disappointed with this lens. My copy (actually my third copy of this lens) was poor for any indoor shots. Like the other copies I had of this lens, most indoor shots were out of focus. I'm sticking with my DSLR for the time being.

great compact lens and is very sharp

This is a great lens that has a high quality metal body, compact size and takes great pictures. I used this on a GX1 and I've been very happy with it.

Good walking around lens

I have been slowly dipping my toe in to the Micro 4/3 world. I started small, with a Lumix DMC-GM1 and 12-32 kit lens. The 14-140 is a very nice walking around lens that has a lot of versatility at the telephoto end in a tiny package (compared to my full frame Nikon). The 12-32 is better for inside work.

Good All Around Carry Lens

Please with is so far. I use it on the GX8. It fits my needs for an all around carry lens. Of course this covers such a great range. I have sharper lenses both prime and zooms that I would prefer to use in low light or work related situations. But it is nice have this lens when I am just out shooting and enjoying the day. I will post more when I do more shooting with this comparing sharpness and low light abilities.

My everyday lens!

If you need a lens you can leave on your camera most of the time, well you can't go wrong with this one. a 10x zoom this compact is a blessing. It is sharp and the variable aperture is well handeld, the f/5.6 is not reach too early on the zoom range and the f/3.5 at the wide end is a nice addition. It has it's limitations but you can easily get around them. A great overall performer if you don't need a specific lens.

Good lens.

I like this lens but I don't love it. For the money I expect more - its a bit noisy, and not that great when shooting video. But, for stills, its good.

POWER O.I.S.

This lens is absolutely unacceptable for video with POWER O.I.S. on. I bought it with new G7 and was disappointed. When the O.I.S. is on, which is essential for handheld videography this lens gives a micro jitter and basically makes your shots as bad as having stabilization off. This issue has been discussed over internet since it's been released. And people mention it's POWER O.I.S. issue in particular. I'm surprised how panasonic went selling these lenses.

Good lens.

I have purchased this lens for my G6 and sold kit lens on ebay. Nice all around lens. Don't expect smooth operation for video zooming. Due to the small size of the total package I am able to carry my G6 with 14-140 attached without too much of a bulk. Prior to this I had FZ200. The overall size of this two cameras with this lens on G6 was almost the identical.

Sweet lens. A true workhorse

The Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 Power O.I.S. Lens (Matte Black) is a wide-angle to telephoto zoom lens compatible with cameras featuring the Micro Four Thirds lens mount. Its 14-140mm focal length is equivalent to 28-280mm in 35mm format and provides a 75-8.8deg. angle of view. The Power Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.) keeps your images free of blur, even if your hands are unsteady, by compensating for camera shake twice as effectively as MEGA O.I.S.

The lens contains three aspherical elements to eliminate coma and other types of lens aberration and two ED glass elements to enhance sharpness and color correction by minimizing chromatic aberration. Multi-coated lens elements minimize ghosting and flare. The Internal Focusing system lets you focus without altering the size of the lens, enabling a closer minimum focusing distance of 0.98' at the widest focal lengths (14-21mm) and 1.64' at 22-140mm.

Additionally, the lens utilizes a stepping motor to enable smooth, silent focusing during both photo and video capture. The circular aperture diaphragm features seven blades that create visually pleasing bokeh in the out-of-focus regions of the image. When used with certain compatible cameras, including the DMC-GH3/G6, the lens supports high-speed shooting at up to 240 fps to take advantage of contrast AF.

The 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 is compact and lightweight, with a 67mm diameter and an overall length of 2.95", but features a durable metal mount. It accepts 58mm filters. Supplied with the lens are front and rear caps, a lens hood for blocking out unwanted light and a convenient storage bag.
