I would be cautious in my recommendation due the they seem to break easy at the cup. Used same quick fix but added a paper clip as a splint and secured using electrical tape.

Had these for years and went out of my way to keep them safe? That being said they can't handle even the slightest drop. They sound good but you will break them. Just a matter of when not if.

You get what you give - these are pro-studio headphones, not "throw into a bag and pile luggage on top" durable. You give them care and non-volatile treatment and they'll last for a long time. Don't buy a Lamborghini if you don't know how to treat or drive it. I've had my M70's for OVER 10 years and the listening experience is still top tier. The padding has started to peel, however, I don't know a pair of headphones that hasn't had that happen after 10 years. Great sound. I almost exclusively listen to these cans with a flat EQ if I cannot manually adjust in 8, 16, or 32 eq bands. You can turn up the volume and they handle very well. Speaking of handling sound, in general these are very, very responsive with little distortion (pour in the high octane, rev that engine and go speeding; again, if you know what your doing, these cans sound great). I've heard things with these that the AT M50's can't reproduce. I've done the comparisons. I don't cord swap often, however could see this as an issue if you do.

I have been quiet happy with my pair of ATH-M70x, they fit my head great and I like the sound quality. Great headset if you don't look at the price tag or the quality of the construction. "You won't have to worry about these headphones - they're ruggedly constructed with key metal components to ensure lasting performance." - They don't last and the construction is made of plastic that can break just by turning to hard like other reviews. I'm sad that mine has broke like many others,I would never recommend these headphones to anyone, if you are looking for a new pair, look elsewhere.

Had this sitting around for over a year now cause the plastic rotator broke, I hadn't thought of it until my M50x which I've had for 2 years had a plastic piece break also. So I just had to make a quick fix to it so I could do my work.

The ATH-M70x headphones are a great sounding pair of closed backs. They are fairly neutral and provide excellent clarity. That is where the pros stop, however. The other pair of headphones in the line(M50x) are built like tanks. They can fold every which way and can take quite the beating. So for 300 dollars you would expect their "flagship" model to have on par if not better build quality. Absolutely not. The m70x may be comfortable but it is extremely fragile and weak, specifically near the swivel. My pair of m70x's has had BOTH of the cups break off more than 3 times, getting them repaired by audio technica each time. Its not like they broke from a very high height onto wood floor or something. They broke falling from ONE FOOT onto SOFT CARPET. That is inexcusable build quality. TL;DR: These headphones sound amazing, but they are so fragile that you can expect them to break. Unless audio technica fixes this issue with the swivels, DO NOT BUY.

Only perfect for mixing and mastering, otherwise I do not recommend it if you are into listening to music or watching movies and all these entertainment activities.

I use the product for music production, djing, VR, reference audio, listening, media. it would have been great to have the 180 rotation on the cups, making them more versatile and more comfortable around the neck. also the build quality is lacking in the joints they are very fragile if not careful.

The sound is clear and detailed. Although the response is nearly flat, the resulting sound is not boring. Highs may sound a little overwhelming on first listening for some, but that's a nitpicking. I actually like it.

I do not recomend these headphones, because they're weak so much in the rotation part of the headphone. It can easily be easely broken.

the high end sounds unnatural and it is exaggerated. not compared to other headphones. as compared to the real world. i can't mix with phones that are that far from reality.

Sound great, amazing sound stage. Just the only thing keeping the drivers connected is a flimsy piece of plastic. Would be far better if AT released a metal version to swap it out. Have gone through two pairs due to this poor design,

Same problem as everyone else. The swivels are 90 degrees, so it's easy to try to swivel them the wrong direction and very little pressure causes them the break. Even when handled correctly and stored in case etc, the yoke connections, which are plastic, wear and break. This would not be a huge deal if Audio-Technica would just sell replacement plastic parts as it's only a couple of screws to swap out, but they refuse. Sad because they sound great, especially with a quality DAC.

It was a good set of headphones for the first two and a half years, and after keeping them in their hardcover storage case for weeks at a time when not in use, I thought I would get some more use out of them. Unfortunately, the hinges are flimsy and cheap. The entre left headphone detached and is currently hanging by a wire. Three hundred dollars down the drain because things are now made to break after the ?warranty expires.

The headband design is inadequate and is not strong enough to support the ear cups. I only use these in the studio yet cracks quickly emerged before breaking after six months. The sound of the headphones is far from flat. Both the lows and the highs slope off heavily at each end of the spectrum and the mids are so far forward they are completely unrealistic for mixing.

I cannot describe these headphones other than revealing. They are not bass or midrange heavy. So, why buy these headphones if ($) Panasonic RP-HTF600-S headphones have more bass and mids? DETAILS. These are light in sound for a reason: to help you listen to the entire spectrum of your productions without getting fatigued or tricked by your ears. These babies leave your ears fresh and rested; they almost recalibrate your sense of hearing. They are not muddy and they are just very clean, almost lonely feeling. Not sterile, because one can enjoy music on them just fine, but for making a great mix on your DAW, they're outstanding. From low bass to sharp highs, everything is textured and detailed without filling and overloading your ear canals with a bunch of stray frequencies. Everything I mix on these sounds better than when I mix on my Sony MDR-7506, which I've been using for 14 years and am on my third pair. Paired with a Denon DA-300USB DAC, these will make you want to listen to your entire music collection. They take some getting used to, because they are very, very clean sounding, almost thin. They represent an accurate picture of a mix. They don't showcase sounds. So after 5 minutes of initial "disappointment", you'll really appreciate them and give them a special, superior place amongst your other headphones.
