Used Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 Auto Focus Lens for Sony E-mount Nex Series Cameras

I did a lot of research before buying this lens. It's the cheapest 35 1.4 on the market. I will note for those that don't know, Rokinon and Samyang are the same. I did purchase the lens mount with it to update firmware. I would definitely recommend getting that with this lens. I have no complaints and am very happy with this. There's no need to spend more money on another brand.

I bought this in a bundle with the Rokinon 50 1.4, and have found both lenses to be a great value... but especially the 35mm. It’s clearly an improved design over the older 50mm, with faster AF, much more silent operation, and just overall refinement in it’s behavior. I’ve found it to be plenty sharp enough for my needs and it’s become one of my favorite primes. I don’t shoot much video, so I can’t comment on that aspect, but for photography this lens is great. The lens is a bit large and bulky, but the vast majority of lenses of this type are quite similar in size. Some may miss the lack of an AF/MF button, but I rarely shoot in manual focus so it’s a non-issue for my needs.

I like this lens alot, but the Sigma art lens looks way better and is at the same price point. So research both

I did a ton of research before buying my camera and lens. This lens takes amazing pictures and works pretty well for video. I use it with my A7III. My one issue with this lens is how loud the auto focus is. However, if you use a shotgun mic, its no issue at all. One side note, I originally had the auto focus set to fast in the camera settings. I changed it to normal spped and this lens worked far better for video. Overall a great lens, especially for the price!

I haven’t used it in a session yet but I like all the test photos I’ve taken. It’s sharp with a nice soft background and bokeh. It’s a tiny bit slow with autofocusing but not a deal breaker depending on what you’re using it for. For the price, I would definitely recommend! ????

I Really like this lens but unfortunately this was a faulty lens so I had exchange it and I just got my replacement today out it turn it on and wooalla perfect , the other one when I put it the first time I knew there was something wrong with that lens

The lens exhibits massive decentering. The out of focus areas are not uniform. Good luck contacting anyone at SAMYANG, they have no USA warranty. I have been at this for a few days now.

This lens really is a pleasant surprise. Mounted on my Sony A7iii it's very sharp in the center even wide open at f1.4 . It really should get a 4.5 star only because my copy does struggle with autofocus with backlit subjects and the fact that it is another non weather sealed lens. Other than that it is quite exceptional, great contrast and pleasing bokeh.

The main reason for 4 stars is that the lens will hunt in low light. it's not terrible but sometimes it does hunt. other than that this lens is fantastic and I love the bokeh it gives. I bought this because of the price compared to the Zeiss. I do not regret purchasing this lens and would definitely buy it again over the Zeiss.

I was concerned about not this lens at first but soon as I slapped it onto my Sony a7 I knew it was a match made in heaven. This lens delivers some crazy creamy soft bokeh while keeping the subject super sharp. The focusing ringing turns nice and smooth. Overall this lens is well worth the price.

Can't detect eye auto focus in low light situations and i did not like the colors from the photos both raw and jpeg. I had to spend lot of time color grading

Been using this lens about three weeks or so. For the price it cannot be beat. Performed like lenses twice this size. I usually only buy Japanese and german lenses. But decided to take a chance on this lens and it paid off in spades. My only negitive is that it’s not weather sealed. If it was it would be a near perfect lems
