My Nikon lenses work perfectly. Gives fullfunction to all of my high-end a Nikon lenses.

Makes my regular Nikon lenses work perfectly with the N series camera. Saves a bundle on new lenses in while enabling me to use all of my great 2.8 lens.

Perfect Fit

I am a former professional photojournalist with a strong interest in digital photography. I recently purchased a Nikon 1 J5 body to replace my worn out older Nikon DSLR. The J5 is a mirrorless DSLR that takes a smaller mount lens than Nikon's main line. I purchased the Nikon FT1 Mount Adaptor so I could use my existing Nikkor lenses, specifically my AF-SVR Nikkor 70-200 mm 1:2.8G zoom. The adaptor works perfectly with this lens and body. I bought from Adorama because NikonUSA listed the adaptor as out of stock. I have been very satisfied with both Adorama's service and the product and recommend both to other photographers.

camera lens adapter weighs too much.

I got this adapter to use the lenses from my Nikon SLS and Nikon DSLR with my Nikon 1 digital camera. so far there is only a few issues with this lens adapter. the main problem being that it weighs a lot more than my Nikon 1 camera, by at least 2 or 3 times as much. the weight problem with the adapter makes it uncomfortable to hold the camera in which can only be fixed by using the camera with a tripod.

I decided to go with a full size Nikon lens on my J5 mirrorless for a 70-300 zoom. This adapter works perfect and gives full function of the lens. Some day I can also get a DSLR and have both.

Nikon FT1 mount

I bought this adapter to be able to mount a variety of Nikor lenses - for the longer reach it offered on the Nikon 1 - for a trip to cool Alberta Canada - to see the wonderful parks and vistas up there. While there, I tried this adapter with a Nikon 105 f2.8 AFS micro, a 24-120 f4 AFS, a 12-24 f4 AFS, a 80-200 f2.8 AFS, a 18-200 f3.5-5 , a 55 f2.8 AIS micro manual, and a 500 f8 mirror. All Nikon lenses. Had the latest software for camera and adapter. I made the great obvisious mistake of not trying it our before the trip- but was glad that I also took my D7100 All lenses worked very well on Manual Focus. Not so good on auto focus - in fact - basically unacceptable performance, even for the f2.8 lenses. It spent considerable time searching for focus, then over focused. Pushing the shutter button several times half way tended to get better focus, but most every time it would not produce even close to an acceptaple shot on auto focus. I had expected to be able to get some long shots of wild creatures in Bamff, Lake Louise and Waterton, but was sorely disapointed with its performance. Exposure appeared to be correct, but the image stabilization had some problems. Movie mode was not worth the effort - complicated by unacceptable results. With the manual lenses or the others set to manual - the older 55 2.8 micro produced the sharpest results, with the 105 f2.8 AFS micro a very close second. I found that a tripod is a must in manual focus mode because of the image stabilization issues in trying to hand hold even the 24-120 zoom. Bottom line - it is an over priced gadget that is somewhat fun to try - but not for professional level photography at all. I might recommend it but with a lot of caveats that would tend to discourage the better photographer.

Must have for any owner of the Nikon 1

If you have a small collection of DSLR lenses, this optional item is a must have. I have a D600 with five other lenses for it. I bought the Nikon 1 V1 as a backup camera because it uses the same battery. Now with this FT1 adapter, I can use the lenses for the D600, too! It is worth the investment!

Great device at a reasonable price!

This adapter lets me use all my 35mm lenses on a small camera body. It even allows full autofocus function while using autofocus lenses! It changes my 55mm-300mm into a 149mm-810mm f4-5.6 super telephoto lens with no loss of light or speed. My 35mm f1.8 is now a 95mm f1.8 lens. My 40mm Macro is now a 105mm f2.8 lens. The clarity is outstanding! The only small "down" side is with that much magnification I must use my tripod, which is expected. I can even use my old non-autofocusing AI-S lenses with this adapter and get great photos.

The MUST-HAVE 1 Series Accessory!

If you want to maximize the capabilities of Nikon's 1 Series cameras, this accessory allows you to use top-of-the-line, F-mount lenses on these mirrorless cameras. The fact of this accessory was one of the main reasons I purchased a V1 camera. To use an 85mm, f1.4, as a 127mm, f1.4, and other similar applications is incredible.

What a Great Little Accessory!

I have all the Nikkor 1 lenses for my Nikon V1 BUT I have always wanted to reach further into the telephoto range with my V1 and work at apertures wider than f/2.8. This slick little accessory let me use my favorite Nikkor DX 18-200mm lens. It attached smoothly to my camera and lens, and fairly compact and light, and it even has a little socket if I want to mount onto a tripod. I had to do a bit of math to determine the crop factor, and it does take from extreme wideness of the wide angle, but no big deal for me. When I first attached it, I got a message which wouldn't allow me to shoot, but soon discovered I just needed to update my V1's firmware. I didn't have to attach lens and adaptor in any special order. But I do have to be careful to support the camera by the lens in my hand - NOT just the camera when using with my Nikkor 18-200mm. It took a bit of time to get comfortable carrying my V1 with adaptor and big lens, and no more dangling by the strap over my shoulder/neck.

Amazing

I just picked up the Nikon J3 because I found this and liked the idea of being able to use all my DSLR lenses. Best purchase I have made so far for the camera. I like when my lens is mounted it stays perfectly balanced on the FT1. Keep in mind this does add a multiplier to your lenses which can be great if you have some telephoto lenses.

Cheap, light-weight super telephoto

I bought this so I could use DX lenses on my Nikon 1 J1. Achieves autofocus with all AF-S lenses, and even worked in manual with a 30-year-old Tokina 500mm. The 2.7x crop factor gives an effective focal length of 800mm with a 300mm telephoto. Works just as well on Nikon V1, V2. Recently I purchased a Tamron SP 70-300mm, which autofocuses with the FT-1/V2 as well as any Nikon lens.

OPENS TELEPHOTO OPTIONS

AFTER NIKON V1 FIRMWARE UPDATE TO V.1.2, IT MAKES ALL NIKON AFS LENSES NIKON V1 COMPATIBLE. ACTS LIKE A 2.7 X FOCAL LENGTH TELECONVERTER WITH NO f-STOP OR RESOLUTION PENALTY.

GREAT PRODUCT

This is very handy on my V2. I tried this with my Nikon 200 - 400 and it works great for non moving objects wonderful pictures of birds. Also works great with my 28 - 300. It does't work with my Sigma lens (150 macro & 150 - 500) GREAT BUY

Works Like It's Supposed To

Bought this so my wife could use her AF-S 300mm f/4 with her V1 as an 810mm birding and wildlife lens. Works as advertised, and the results with the combo on a tripod are excellent.

FT Adapter on a V1

This is a wicked cool adapter. I use it on everything from a 55-200 DX to a 20-400 manual focus. DX lens are great everything works and super magnification. I have used many older lens with varying levels of functionality. Exposure and focus are keys to remember. Great tool is that you can zoom the screen into small areas to adjust the focus better. If I weren't having such a ball not lugging my D700 and still getting great shots I would complain more about the price. Sorry Nikon but for a something without glass in it ouch.

Force Multiplier

The Nikon 1 Series provides a small capable camera that can be paired with extremely small lenses (10, 10-30 and 30-110) that provide excellent optical performance in a package that's extremely small and lightweight. For those times when size and weight are not as critical as other factors, this handy piece of gear provides access to all those "F" lenses in the world. I bought the J1 as a gift for my wife (with 10, 10-30 and 30-110 lenses) since it's got sufficient IQ and speed for her photographic needs, but is small and light enough that she'll carry it along. The FT-1 was bought primarily for her to use with the new 50/1.8G that sees little time on my D7000 (75mm is an awkward focal length for me). On the J1 the 50 becomes a 135/1.8 and has proven to be an excellent portrait lens and useful "fast-tele" for her, while still being relatively light weight and ergonomic. The FT-1 works just as advertised and is very solid and well crafted. The only rub is that the Nikon 1 firmware did not originally support the FT-1 and had to be updated, which took about an hour of time reading the instructions, doing the download and swapping cards, etc. Well worth it. Now I just have to keep my wife away from my 300/4 AF-S and the new 85/1.8G when it arrives.

Does what it's supposed to

The FT1 lets you mount your F-mount lenses to the Nikon 1. Recent lenses will have full functionality on the camera, which is awesome. Screw-drive lenses will be manual-focus only, but you get a nice rangefinder display on screen in that case. Video with any F-mount lens will be as good as your focussing skills, as AF-F mode is not supported - you can either focus with the shutter release as your subject moves around (and capture the sound it makes) or use manual focus. The rangefinder display is available in video mode. You won't want to use your DX lenses in all likelihood unless they are longer than the Nikon 1 lenses you have. A quick comparison of a couple of DX lenses including an ultra-wide shows that the angle of view is the same, at the same millimeter reading, on a Nikon 1 lens and a DX lens. For instance the Tokina 11-16 at 11 mm produces the same angle of view on the J1 as the Nikon 1 10-30 at 11 mm. Mount the Tokina on a DX camera and the same 11 mm gives a much wider angle of view. FX lenses such as the 50 1.4 are a joy as you get the benefit of the 2.7 crop factor. There aren't too many f1.4 135mm lenses for any camera, but with this adaptor you might have one sitting in your camera bag for your J1/V1.

Exceeds expectations

The list of compatible lenses in the documentation is more of a guideline. I have a Tamron 500 mm mirror lens with a Nikon AI adaptor and it works well with my new V1 running in aperture priority mode. Even videos look good. I have quite a few manual Nikkor lenses, as for the past 30 years I have used an F2 and never got around to buying a DSLR. I do product documentation with this camera and the ability to use my existing manual lenses is a big help.

The Nikon FT1 Mount Adapter allows you to use certain legacy F Mount NIKKOR lenses (those designed for use with Nikon D-SLR/SLR cameras) on the Nikon 1 . The Mount Adapter is attached to the Nikon 1 and the F Mount NIKKOR lens then attached to the adapter. The FT1 will add an angle of view of 2.7 times that of the F Mount NIKKOR lens' focal length.

Nikon FT1 Mount Adapter for F-Mount Lenses & 1 Series Cameras, Black Features

  • To use the FT-1, the Nikon 1 Camera's firmware must be updated to at least version 1.10
  • F mount lenses mounted on the FT-1 have a crop factor of 2.7x. Enjoy an angle of view equivalent to that of a super telephoto lens when a telephoto lens is used. (Example: When using a 300mm lens, the equivalent angle of view is that of an 800mm lens.)
  • When using the FT-1 and a compatible AF-S NIKKOR F-Mount lens, users can take full advantage of the Nikon 1's high-speed continuous shooting of 10/30/60 fps. (When an AF-S lens is used. However, focus is locked with the first shot with continuous shooting.)
  • [P], [S], [A] and [M] exposure modes can be used with CPU lenses
  • Vibration reduction (VR) functions when VR lenses are used. Enable vibration reduction, or specify a setting, using switches on the lens. NORMAL/ACTIVE modes are supported when lenses equipped with these modes are used
  • The Smart Photo Selector function cannot be used
  • Supports 65 existing F-mount NIKKOR lenses
  • AF/AE supported with AF-S lenses only. Autofocusing is possible when AF-S lenses are used. However, focus mode must be set to AF-S (Single AF) and AF-area mode is fixed at Single-point with only the center focus point used
  • The focus indicator (rangefinder) can be used with CPU lenses
  • [A] and [M] exposure modes can be used with non-CPU lenses. Aperture is specified using the aperture ring on the lens
  • Shooting in Motion Snapshot mode is only possible when focus has been acquired with an AF-S lens
