I like it but very disappointed that the remote control can't lower or increase the volume. That function is controlled by a separate remote that you have to buy.

The cd player worked for the first three weeks I had it then the CDs started skipping. I checked the make sure the CDs were clean and no scratches. I contacted tech support that advised updating the firmware so I'm in the process of doing that.

Using it via toslink cable. Good sound quality. Remote control not very intuitive. Solid build. I wish it would integrate better with my Yamaha receiver. I wish the app was able to work with the cd changer.

I needed a new CD deck, my old Sony changer has multiple issues. Ordered from an online store and unit arrived in great shape today. Media rack was cleaned out and waiting for it: shelves dusted, fresh optical cable in place, center channel speaker rewired. First CD played was Luka Bloom's "Innocence." His Alvarez guitars sounded like he was in my living room, especially after I engaged Pure Direct on the receiver! (Polk T90 Euro towers, Klipsch 12" sub, Yamaha RX-V677 receiver, CD-C603 CD changer, various Radio Shack satellites, Dayton Audio C-452AIR center channel) Other reviewers commented on how open the sound stage sounds through this deck. Pure Direct off and a little Don Henley, then Jeff "Skunk" Baxter's "Speed of Heat." Opening track "Ladies From He**" never sounded like this before! I was aware of the reverb effects before and this player projected the ambient effects into a 3-D spatial 7.1 environment and I was immersed in! I like to listen to whole discs, maybe repeat a track here and there, and this deck does what I need without random shuffle and other unnecessary functions. If your receiver/amp/preamp has an optical input use that instead of the analog input and hear things differently. Fiber optic TOSLink "cables" aren't that expensive and are worth it to your ears. Easier to connect, too. This is a fairly big piece of equipment so make sure you measure the space you have for it. My media stand only has 16" deep shelves and is pulled away from the wall a bit to allow the CD changer to not hang over the front or compress cables in back. Time will tell how well this changer holds up and continues to perform. I have confidence in Yamaha audio gear. I've mixed a number of live shows using Yamaha 16/32 channel pro audio analog mixers in various concert halls over the years without incident or failure. Now my CDs make my living room sound more like a live stage.

This CD exchanger is just what I needed to add to my stereo system. I love the way I can change a CD while another is playing without interruption. This combined with my Yamaha turntable has taken me a little further to where I want my music system to be. Now I am saving up for a good receiver, but don't want to let go of my Pioneer speakers!

The CD-C603 is exactly what I needed for the limited space I had available. And I definitely wanted a multiple CD changer.

I inherited a CD collection of nearly 1500 CDs from my recently daily departed dad who was the quintessential audiophile. Unfortunately for me I am not an audiophile and somewhat tech challenged, but after ordering a CD player from a competitor which was delivered damaged I got a used Yamaha CD C603. I was able to connect it to my Sonos sound (port) system and a Sony receiver with very little problems. It's much better than the previous one that I bought which labeled the various CDs as "folders". This one works like a charm, and I couldn't be happier.

The product is fine but a couple of comments. 1. Once again black on black and writing too small for easy reading without glasses. 2. We miss the fact that you cannot set the 5 CD's to random tracks chosen from random CD's. Our old machine had this feature. On this machine you have to listen to one whole CD at a time.. Otherwise it functions well.

I have been a loyal Yamaha customer for years, always appreciating the high quality and reliability of their products. However, I have noticed a decline in quality with recent offerings, and unfortunately, the CD-C600 falls short of my expectations. While the player offers solid features on paper, the actual experience feels underwhelming. The build quality feels loose and clunky, with the carousel and overall handling lacking the robust craftsmanship Yamaha is known for. The device takes over a minute to start playing a CD after closing the tray, which feels unnecessarily slow. The advertised ability to change CDs while another is playing is inconsistent-it works sporadically without a clear cause. Additionally, the remote control feels disappointingly cheap, especially when compared to the quality remote of my Yamaha R-N800A amp. The plastic tape on the remote labels was bubbling and peeling straight out of the box, which is not what I expect from a product in this price range. Moreover, the device resets entirely after timing out, losing track of the playback position, which is frustrating for a player priced close to $600. While the sound quality is acceptable, running through my Yamaha R-N800A amp, JBL Studio 2 55IW speakers, and SVS 3000 Micro subwoofer, it does not meet the level of excellence I associate with Yamaha products, even in Pure Direct mode. I appreciate Yamaha's legacy of delivering exceptional audio experiences, but this product feels like a step back in terms of build quality, usability, and overall value. I hope Yamaha considers these concerns in future product iterations, as many customers, like myself, hold the brand in high regard. For now, I am left wishing I had considered alternatives such as the Integra Premium 6-Disc CD player. While I am rating this product four stars for being functional and "okay," it did not meet my expectations for a Yamaha product.

It is a decent CD changer, and one of only a few still on the market

The CD-C603 is not a new product; It was a Disc changer from prior years as was the GT-5000 Turntable. What was eventually become What is. It is a decent changer not up to either specs or build quality of a Sony CD Changer. If you can buy it, discounted, as you will find it, it is a bargain. It is decent - nothing more, nothing less.

It's a shame that a multi CD (5 CD's) changer that you spend over $500 for does not have the capability to play random selections on random CD's. Only plays random on a single CD. If I had known this before i bought it, I would not have bought it.. Tell me if i'm reading the directions wrong.

This replaced a Sony CD changer. I really noticed the improvement in sparkle and overall sound. The transport mechanism is smooth and quiet. My only wish is that the ergonomics of the button layout was better. The play button is small and distinguished only by its position. Same with the power button. Illuminated controls would be helpful.

This unit replaced a 15 year-old refurbished player that was beyond taking another refurbishment. It was time to start fresh with a new machine.

This is the 3rd Yamaha 5 CD player I've owned. The first one lasted 15 years. The second one, CDC-600 lasted 2.5 years. This was very disappointing. I purchased the 3rd one because there aren't many CD players that handle multiple CD's. I tried the Yamaha CD-C603 because I've had good luck with Yamaha products for the most part. I took the 2nd CD player to a repair shop before buying the 3rd one. The diagnosis was that it needed a new control board for over $200. The player was a few months out of warranty. It made more sense to get a new player.

I owed a similar item before and it served me very well. I am expecting to see the same performance from this model. No one can beat the best. My experience with Yamaha tells me they are the best.

Yamaha CD-C603, 5 CD player. This unit offers very clean and crisp playback. The operation button panel (on the unit) and on the remote control are easy to navigate. Operation is quiet. This is the 1st Yamaha audio product I've owned. My hope was for a solid built and feature rich product as Yamaha has seemed to follow that path with others I spoke with about their experience with their Yamaha audio equipment. My previous CD player was an Onkyo DXC 390, which I had for 25 plus years. The drive belt finally gave up the ghost and desegregated. So I decided to up my choice and purchase this Yamaha CD-C603 CD player. One would think that most Multiple CD player units (especially higher end models) would have some standard features across the board, such as: 'Multiple disc random playback' (All tracks and all loaded discs in random order). Unfortunately this Yamaha CD-C603 unit does not. Manually Programmable track on a single Disc option (on the remote control) only works for a single disc not multiple discs. The Onkyo DXC 390 CD player offers much more plentiful advanced playback modes (including multiple disc random playback). Onkyo also offers 6 disc slots versus the 5 that comes with this Yamaha unit. The bottom line? The Yamaha offers less features for more $$ than the Onkyo does. If cost for these simple extra features was the issue with the manufacture of these units, then one would see that cost reflected in the Onkyo. But the cost of the Onkyo is $100+ dollars less. The bottom bottom line: My Bad? I "assumed" that more advanced features would be standard in these types of Multi disc players and therefore didn't not investigate before I purchased. So, if you prefer to listed to you discs in straight line, i.e. 1 thru 5 then this is the unit for you. However, if you prefer multiple options of listening to a variety of disc tracks from all discs and other standard programmable options you might want to investigate other options as this unit is limited.

This CD player was advertized as having a CD tray that fully opens. It does not fully open. Discs 4 and 5 have to be inserted and removed while only half of their respective slots are exposed. This creates the possibility of scratching your CDs when you put them in and take them out. There is no way to advance the tray to make it easier to insert and remove discs 4 and 5. I am very disappointed in this. Also, when I turn on the CD player, it checks every slot for discs before it allows me to put any discs in. Also, when the tray closes, it momentarily catches before it starts to close. I have also noticed it will randomly stop playing a CD in the middle of a song. For what I paid for this CD player, I am pretty disappointed. Too expensive for the quality. I could have spent about $200 less on another brand and gotten an equally disappointing CD player.

I have been looking for a multi disk player that would match up to my Yamaha receiver for a while now. I have been thru 2 Onkyo multi disk players that kept failing after about 3 years of use. Can't tell you how happy I was to finally see Yamaha producing this product. My receiver has been going strong for quite some time and my expectations of the disk player are very high based on my experience with the receiver and knowing the quality of the brand. So far so good no issues easy set up and play back and ease of use are fantastic. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a multi disk CD player especially if you have other Yamaha equipment.

Pretty bad when MSRP was like 550. It's a 5 disc changer and the tray will not even open.
